A small prayer request for my son
I know so many are dealing with real big things here needing prayer so this is just a mom requesting a different kind of prayer for her kid who sure has faced many obstacles..............:o
My son has Tourette Syndrome Spectrum (includes ADD, OCD and more) plus Crohn's Disease and he has faced many challenges in his 18 years..........but tonite he is having a really fun experience in that the band that he and his friends formed are in the Battle of the Bands final at the high school :p I would really value a lil prayer for him from anyone stopping by here:grouphug: as I know he is kinda nervous (band's first time on stage) they have a great attitude of doing it for the fun and the experience (lol and the adoring girls who are already following their MySpace band webpage:D) and altho I know they hope they will win...yet they havent made that get them antsy.... anyway, it all starts in a couple of hours and they are already there rehearsing and doing the sound checks etc....so would really appreciate all prayers for all the kids to have a great time and for my son's band members (4 of them ) to have things go smoothly with equipment and their performance :) thanks Cheri ps I am soooooooooooooooo proud of him  |
You've got them my friend! And proud mama you should be.

Many good thought prayers going up Cheri!!!
I so love it when children (of any age) reach out for their dreams!!! Please let us know how it goes.... Abbie P.S... Mom's alway have the right to express how proud they are of their children!!! You ROCK!!!! |

You betcha, Cherie! I'm glad you posted, we need hopeful input too, and this is hopeful and fun! How cool for the little dudes, they'll have a blast!
On a sidebar, my friends' son is a self-taught drummer for God who has won in several youth BoB comps; he's 21 and married now, doesn't make his living drumming, but drumming keeps him living, he's the lead drummer for a huge church.:) |
:You-Rock::You-Rock:
Prayers and good wishes being said right now!! How exciting - got you and for your son. It will be an experience he'll never forget. :) |
:) thanks so much:grouphug:
LOL the reason I am here and not there is that he sweetly asked hubby and me not to be in the audience as he felt that would make him more nervous and ticcy:o I hope someone is camcording it ............. they are prolly getting ready to go on soon. it started at 7 pm:p they had special T shirts made with their band name on..... Sonic Fix  |
Um, hellowww, Cherie! You could probably go listen right from the parking lot!

I hope I'm not too late to add my prayers! I hope they had a WONDERFUL time.....and I hope he won't ask you if he can keep some of his groupies. :p |
Did we win?? What's the prize? When do we get it? Are they home yet? Is it time? When do they get here? Is there pizza? Did we win? Did we win?
phew *waddling off to take a nap* |
:)
havent heard anything yet...it may still be going on... I think each band does 3 songs............. I know lots of his friends from other schools etc were going to go to support them........... so who knows when I will hear...........but at least he dint call to say a guitar string snapped ............:D I really do appreciate the prayers. Stress and even good high excitement can really cause flares of his various symptoms.... and so as light hearted as my prayers are for the band and the competition........yet my mama's heart also knows this is a big event for him and so I pray too his tics wont wax and all the other stuff he deals with just stay stable too. He has been in a good place recently with his health, for which I am sooooooo thankful:Bow: thankful too that big brother will be home from college for a week from tomorrow night, and they will just be able to wear out the Wii and relax together:winky: I will post as soon as I hear from him ........thanks again for all your posts and prayers........:grouphug: |
he's baaaaacccckkk:D
they didnt get a placement for performance but apparently got commendation and also had the largest following:p he LOVED the experience and I think all the cheering fans has him as exhilirated as if they had won  thanks so much again for the prayers:grouphug: he is a happy sleepy kid :) |
That is really cool, sounds like he had a great time.
|

Sorry I'm just now reading this thread. Wow does this bring back some memories for me of when my own son was in jr and sr. high school. A rock band formed with some of his classmates, he taught himself how to play guitar, never took a lesson in his life, but worked into lead guitar with this band. They actually recorded one CD of about 6 or 7 songs that they'd written themselves. A few gigs here & there, we went to a few local ones (spent the whole week after each one regaining our hearing !!).
As they all reached college age and had 6 boys spread out to 4 different colleges in the state..it became harder and harder for them to get together even for a "jam session". They never did a Battle of the Bands, but attended many after the band folded. Now it's into the Bonaroo festival in Tennessee each summer, and the Lalapaloosa concerts in Chicago that they're attending. Hugs, Marilyn |
Congrats to him!! My youngest son had a rock band in high school that practiced in my basement. Two sets of drums and amps. My pictures in the living room where always crooked from the vibrations.
He helped pay his way through college playing his bass guitar. Now hes grown with two sons of his own. My how time flies!! I think playing music is a wonderful way for teens to socialize, not to mention its a talent they will always have. Hope this is the beginning of lots of performances for your son. (I wish my living room pictures needed staightening again!!! ) Hugs! |
Hi Cherie~ Sorry I didn't see this earlier, but hadn't been online much last wk. I totally loved your story. I am sitting here smiling thinking of him and his band. Sounds like you've done a great job at being MOM.
Can I be a "groupie"??? :) |
