Come on up...

Well, ain't it been a month of Sundays since I seen you!! It sho nuff is a good thing this ole porch swing is still holdin up. But then ya know my daddy made this swing for me...cause he said, "One day, that's all the swinging, you'll be able to do!" Yep, my daddy sho is the joker in a deck of cards. He's 86, gets around better than I do most days. He came last week, cleaned up my yard, cut down and pulled up my red bud shrubbery...sho liked that lil bit of red next to that fence. But it ain't no big deal, my daddy wanted to do it, so what, its just plants...gonna miss then though. lol

He worked close to 10 hours out in my yard...resting maybe an hour or so the whole day. Yep, guess he was right bout that swing...cause I sho nuff would have been the guest of the local hospital if I tried that. He also spent the night and we just sat around yacking bout things I did as a kid. No! You don't get to know. I will say, I was more than four hands full...

It always worries me when he works that hard, he is in really good health for his age. Still, his bones are not as strong and he is just getting over a four month healing from a hip fracture. He sat back on heels and hit a concrete floor...fractured hip. Although its more than that, it makes me feel like I'm being lazy...which all who knows me know I'm anything but. It ain't a good feeling, but then I have to deal with those nasty self incriminations! Man, as if I don't have enough to deal with!! lol

The point to all this here rambling is simple as Mr. Eagllesses...ask yourself,
can I do this or not. Then quit whinnin over it and move on! Don't worry bout what other people think....they gonna think it whether you worry about it or not!! When people start talking to me bout, she or he can if he wanted.
I politely look at them and say...I look very healthy, overweight, but healthy...you think I don't want to work?!

Yep, sho is funny how fast people can shut up them lips at such a question...course, they might jest me afearred of what I might do ifn they say Yes. lol

Well, yall jest sit a spell, I got to go see that good doctor so he can tell me to come back in month for mo of my money!! lol

Do something fun and good fer yerself today...after all...it is April Fool and sho nuff seen plenty of em driving by today!! lol

Kitty 04-01-2008 10:50 AM

Hey Momma! I sure do love your swing......wish I had a porch like yours.

Your Daddy sounds wonderful - God bless him if he can work in the yard 10 hours and live to tell about it - Lord knows I couldn't. That's probably why he's so spry - he doesn't sit still long enough to get old!!

You're lucky to have him - tell him you love him as often as you can. What I wouldn't give to be able to tell my Daddy that just once more.

I have to say I agree with you about worrying about what other people think and say. It's a waste of time and good energy better spent elsewhere.

You take care - listen to the doctor but don't give him any more money than you have to!

Twinkletoes 04-01-2008 11:19 AM

Momma, you is so lucky to have a Dad who will come over and hep you out.

My Daddy celebrates his 95th birthday this August. I knowed we'd have a big wingding for him, but now it's looking like it could turn in to a weddin! Go figgure!!!

I be sendin you and your Papa a special invite so y'all can hep with the chivaree!!!

Shhhh! Don't tell that scallywag jmiller -- he'll just cause trubble!!!

clouds z 04-01-2008 12:23 PM

KathyM 04-01-2008 01:32 PM

MK

My father was like that too. He survived 5 years following a diagnosis of lung cancer, radiation treatments, and surgery to remove a portion of both lungs.

He lived for my son. My son and I lived in an apartment complex nearby. Shortly after his first surgery, we had a big snowfall. I got up early to prepare for work, prepare my son for daycare, and clean off my car.

I walked out into the parking lot and saw all the cars completely covered in snow and ice - except for mine. It was completely cleaned off. Despite his pain and frail condition, he gathered up the strength to drive to my home and care for us - despite our agreement that it was MY job now to care for HIM.

Dads can be so amazing. It's a shame not everyone can have a dad like ours. It gives us the strength to keep pushing on, despite our pain. :)

When I was a little girl my dad used to wake me up before dawn on the weekends to watch the sunrise and walk in the woods - despite the weather.

One morning it was brutally cold and the snow was deep. I was FREEZING and tired, so I said "Dad, I can't do this anymore." He said: Yes you can, you have a lot of spirit. I said: "Dad, it's too cold!" He turned to me, smiled and said "Isn't it GREAT? It let's you know you're alive!" :D

I've since learned that pain will never kill me - it's never listed on death certificates as the cause of death. Therefore, my pain serves to remind me I still have the gift of life. :)

her car is always warmed up and cleaned

ticks her off for two reasons the kids could do it and I shouldnt be over doing it, but she is my baby girl, and thats all there is to it

kath your post made me smile big time thanks

kicker 04-01-2008 05:39 PM

Momma,
Finding a post from you is even better than finding money in the dryer, left by somebody who didn't check their pockets!!

Koala77 04-01-2008 09:55 PM

Thanks Momma. You set that swing a-moving at just the right time.

All this talk about your daddy and Twink's daddy has got my eyes watering. Just like herekitty remembering her's..... what I wouldn't do for a push on that swing from my own daddy, but I know he's up there watching over me.

Do ya have a hug to spare today Momma? I could sure do with one if you have! I've been sick for just over a week now, and I don't seem to be getting any better. I saw my doctor this morning and have yet another course of antibiotics.

I'm just having a down day I guess and with a cool change in the weather, I'm not feeling very cheery.

Sorry to be a bother to ya Momma, but I guess there's always one problem child in every family! :o

Riverwild 04-02-2008 12:14 AM

Thanks for the timely message Momma. As usual, you hit the sweet spot.

It'll be three years tomorrow since I said goodbye to my Dad. I sure do hope he knows how much I miss him.

weegot5kiz 04-02-2008 06:52 AM

awe River

its been 11 yrs this mothers day for my father passing he is still close in my heart and I still feel, keeping his eye on me and the kids, As I am sure is your Dad is River

Momma's Kids 04-02-2008 07:05 AM

HereKitty...He knows...so set your mind at ease. Parents are very hard to let go, but then I rather my mother to be at peace in death, than suffering here.

Twinkle...hey if he wants a good lookin woman to wake up to every morning at his age...I say oohRah for him. My dad's wife is 23 yrs younger than him. You are right, don't tell Jmiller, I would have to bring duct tape. lol

Koala...I always have hugs, just close yer eyes and imagine a warm comfy blanket holding ya...that's a Momma's hug.

Kicker...I love finding money in laundry...40.00 last time!! lol Thank you my sweet lil hooligan.

River...As I told HereKitty...he knows and you can still tell him, I'd like to think messages sneak into heaven every now and then.:)

Daddy's are the best, my father and I have always been very close. We went fishing every weekend when I was growing up. He taught me to shoot, hunt and skin whatever I killed. He taught me that if you believe and truly believe you are right, plant your feet, stand like a tree. Then if evidence proves you were wrong...put one foot forward along with your right hand and apologise for misjudging.

He also yells when he thinks I am doing way too much!! Like helping him outside. lol

Take care my lil sweets

jmiller 04-02-2008 07:58 AM

jmiller in roid rage!!!!Yikes!!!!!!

Missed You

Hey there Momma,

Didn't know where you went. Just found out where you were, and here I am too. Many old familiar faces missing from The Boards I find.

Now that I've found you and others, I WILL BE BACK!!!

Sharon :grouphug:

CayoKay 04-02-2008 12:31 PM

dear Momma,

a porch swing is next on my list.... but I dunno *how* in Jumpin' Jehosaphat it's a-gonna FIT on my porch...

the chest freezer (awaitin' Kevin Bacon's demise) takes up about HALF the space!

oh well, I'll think o'somethin' right?

in the interim, I found a great ol' thick old board, 2 inches thick, an' about 5 feet long, well-weathered, and *perfect* for a bench out beside my pond.

with some sandin' an' the addition of two heavy Sapote stump slices for legs, and a wee bit o'shovel work, I now have a soothing and comfy spot to feed my ducks and geese, and contemplate the fan palms and ferns, and watch my beebies a-swimmin' and a-cavortin' about.

I am namin' it MOMMA's BENCH, in honor of you.

jmiller 04-02-2008 10:55 PM

cool all the ladies are asleep, time to hop into action again. Think Ill shorten the swing a bit, oh look at those nice flowers and stuff hmmmm! Lets try some new plant food on them, ooops forgot to look at label, says instant weed killer. Oh yeh got some chicken livers that been in my trunk for week, think I will throw them up on the porch.

Last but not least, cant forget to duct tape the windows. Have fun cuz I sure will , hehehehe....

JessieSue 04-02-2008 11:03 PM

I love that smile Momma! It's contagious!! I've missed it!! {{{HUGS}}}

weegot5kiz 04-02-2008 11:06 PM

what no cellophane on the toilet seats? wheres your adventurous side

jmiller 04-03-2008 07:45 AM

That was in the plans, shhhhhhhhhhhhh!

kicker 04-03-2008 07:53 AM

Twink, pass me the duct tape please. Now jmiller, you need to relax. You know, I was a teacher for really bad boys once. Not much I haven't seen or heard.

Momma's Kids 04-03-2008 11:43 AM

Yes, J and I was a probation officer for very bad boys....I think one them will never grow a mustache again.

So while you are making your mischief...make sure you know where we are...I have eyes sharper than bird and more than any spider.

I also have the keys to your car...just so you know.

jmiller 04-03-2008 12:15 PM

Well I guess I will have to throw a bucket of roaches in ur bedroom along with some mice and rats. Some crazy glue in ur car locks sounds pretty good. So far the coast is clear, I dont see Twink around, so guess its safe. Just Momma and kicker, piece of cake now. hehehe

I'm a-watchin' ya from afar, wit' the ol' EAGLE eye trained upon yer mangy carcass!

one hint...

tread carefully miller, lest you jes' happen to chance upon one a-dem TRIP-wires I so lovingly dispersed about the grass last night.

:D:eek::D

only GIRLS get the super-secret MAP, listin' the whereabouts of aforementioned trouble spots.

jmiller 04-03-2008 01:17 PM

hmmm, looks as tho Ill have to rethink my strategy. Maybe a fdew of those spiders I can slip in ur bed Cay. hehehe

CayoKay 04-03-2008 02:38 PM

ehhhh hee hee...

spiders dun bother me none, miller.

yesterday, I saw a tarantula big as my whole HAND, crawlin' in mah yard.

no biggie.

this one here be either a Belize Cinnamon, or a Red Rump.

http://img259.imageshack.us/img259/6...ulayardjc1.jpg

an' a "red rump" is what yer gonna have, fer SHURE, iffun y'all don't RETHINK dat roaches plan, dude!

'member, I is-a watchin' ya!

kicker 04-03-2008 03:55 PM

What is wrong with that boy? Can't decide if he needs a hug or be knocked up-side his head.

kicker 04-03-2008 03:58 PM

Momma,
Can me and my gun (full of stinging salt (OW). no bullets) sit with you on the swing? Having these tired old bones don't interfer with my aim. KA-POW!!

jmiller 04-03-2008 04:26 PM

Too bad kicker your aim is not like it used to be, you missed me and shot 1 of the stray cats. Hope your not wearing white clothes while sitting on that porch, that roach juice will look perty nice, hehe.

How bout I head on down now to Cayos and throw some roaches in with the ducks, or maybe one of those Amazon Anacondas.

Momma's Kids 04-03-2008 05:04 PM

Well would ya lookie what we caught in that ole skunk net? Guess you didn't figure on looking down while you wuz walkin over to Cay's.

Yep, those ole nets sho do come in handy...oh yeah those roaches you were so friendly with...they were in that ole net. Yep, boy you sho can cause yerself a lot of misery with yer plans. lol

Somebody shure nuff will come along and cut ya down fore supper...can't nobody say I don't feed my youngins...might tie em up, lock em in the cellar...but they always get fed!

Is that WHAT you think? Be afraid, be very afraid. Nobody gets older without a lot of experience and really, the young are so easy to fool. And we can drink our sweet tea while using it. One more glass, please Momma? Sorry, left my skunk net cutting knife home. Here, have some sweet tea, good ain't it. It's kinda late to remember NOW there ain't no out-house up there!! Another glass?

they just ADORE dem roaches, an' all manner of other creepy crawlies.

during da Army Ant incursion a few evenin's back, I observed the ducks happily gobblin' up da critters, (INCLUDIN' snakes!) that be fleein' the path o' da marchers.

YEEEEEE HAAAWWWWWW !!!

jmiller 04-04-2008 09:42 PM

Now that I spent the night with them good ole skunks, Ill just head on back to sit on mommas lap. Well ladies how do I smell today? Maybe Ill squeeze some of this fresh skunk juice in kickers tea. Time to go back to Belize and fry me up some fresh duckies.

SandyC 04-05-2008 11:30 AM

Momma, I wuv ya, did you know that?

Where is jmiller you ask? I don't know Momma, he done gone up into the woods huntin' for sum grub. He said he aint coming fer supper so no sense fixin' him up a plate.
