MS Tunes

While MS is kicking my ask right now, I tried to take a nap but the MS Vise Grip would not let me. So to relax I put songs to my symptoms. I started out with the Edmund Fitzgerald and it soon turned to the Ballroom Blitz. I changed the lyrics here to:

Oh, yeah, it was like lightning, every nerve was frightening
And the music wasn't soothing but they all started grooving

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah
And the nerve at the back said
Everyone attack and it turned into a ballroom blitz
And the nerve in the corner said
Boy, I wanna warn ya, it'll turn into a ballroom blitz
Ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz
Ballroom blitz

Now the nerve in the back
Is ready to crack as it raises its axons to the brain
And the nerve in the corner is ev'ryone's mourner
It could kill you with a wink of her eye

Oh yeah, it was electric, so frightfully hectic
And the band started leaving, 'cause they all stopped breathing

What song describes your symptoms?

FlyFishin Momma 04-01-2008 03:20 PM

TK...................
sorry........I was laughin...........I know its not funny to you.........and I am sorry your feeling so pooooooopie.........
but you were crackin me up!!!!
That should be the MS Theme song for sure!!!!!
Did it help ya get a nap???????

tkrik 04-01-2008 03:25 PM

Heck no I didn't get a nap. LOL. But I did end up "in the desert on a horse with no name . . ." and then R.E.M.'s "Happy shiny people everywhere . . ." Once that song started in my head I knew I had gone overboard and ended up getting up.

Bannet 04-01-2008 06:09 PM

You are toooooo funny LOL

Sorry you are having problems. I wish I could be like you. When I'm having pain and spasms I whine. If I sang thru my pain my dh would think I had lost all my marbles. LOL

I think i'm going to sing next time:eek::D

I think I did lose my marbles. Here's a good Peter Frampton one that I would love to sing loudly to my DDs when I am like this and they ask what's for dinner.

Do you, you feel like I do?
Do you, you feel like I do?

Sing your heart out Beth.

JessieSue 04-01-2008 08:03 PM

Oh TK, I hope you get the feeling better ASAP!! But I loved the tweaking of "Ballroom Blitz"! I have alot of songs that I've felt described my MS challenges, but the one song, that ALWAYS makes me feel good, the one that makes me feel like my old self again is Free Fallin' by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. I laugh at how I used to be a "skater Betty". Now I can't even stand on a board without breaking my neck! LMAO ;D

CayoKay 04-01-2008 08:11 PM

my favorite MS tunes:

Feeling down 'n' dirty, feeling kinda mean
I've been from one to another extreme
This time I had a good time, ain't got time to wait
I wanna stick around 'till I can't see straight

Fill my eyes with that double vision
No disguise for that double vision
Ooh, when it gets through to me, it's always new to me
My double vision gets the best of me

(Foreigner)

and

Lights go down, it's dark
The jungle is your head
Can't rule your heart
A feeling so much stronger
Than a thought
Your eyes are wide
And though your soul
It can't be bought
Your mind can wander

Hello, hello (¡Hola!)
I'm at a place called Vertigo (¿Dónde está?)

(U2)

and:

There is no pain, you are receding
A distant ship's smoke on the horizon
You are only coming through in waves
Your lips move but I can't hear what you say

When I was a child I had a fever
My hands felt just like two balloons
Now I've got that feeling once again
I can't explain, you would not understand
This is not how I am

I..... have become comfortably numb

(Pink Floyd)

:D:cool::D

FlyFishin Momma 04-01-2008 08:19 PM

FFM - I am so glad you enjoy our cyber MS Tunes concert. LOL.

Sometimes I hear Neil Young singing " . . . Helpless, helpless, helpless." LOL

Twinkletoes 04-01-2008 11:12 PM

Tricia, I think you missed your calling: you're a darn good songwriter!!! You and Weird Al could collaborate!

When I had a follow-up visit to the orthopod doc 2 weeks ago for my busted fibula, I found myself entering his office humming Michael Bolton's "When I'm Back on My Feet Again." I have no idea where that came from, but I had to smile when I caught myself.

"When I'm back on my feet again
I'll walk proud down this street again
And they'll all look at me again
And they'll see that I'm strong."

tkrik 04-01-2008 11:36 PM

Isn't it funny how out of the blue these songs just pop up in your head? I love music and it does help to match up songs when my symptoms become overactive. It helps me relax and not think of the pain so much.

This evening . . . "I've got electric boots . . ." Gotta love Elton John.

tkrik 04-02-2008 09:27 AM

Today's song is "The Electric Slide" . . . .(some words changed of course)

It's Electric!

You can't see it
It's electric!
You gotta feel it
It's electric!
Ooh, it's shakin'
It's electric!

Jiggle-a-mesa-with me
It's a pumpin' like a matic
It's a movin' like electric
I sure got the bugger

You gotta know it
It's electric
Boogie woogie, woogie!
Now you can't hold it
It's electric
Boogie woogie, woogie!
But you know it's there,
Yeah here there everywhere

Next . . . .

AfterMyNap 04-02-2008 09:30 AM

The things we do to amuse ourselves. LOL. This is a pain management tool for me as I don't have any hefty duty drugs on hand.

Oh, how about Huey Lewis . . .(I'll have to remember this when at the neuro's today. LOL)

"I want a new drug
One that wont make me sick
One that wont make me crash my car
Or make me feel three feet thick

I want a new drug
One that wont hurt my head
One that wont make my mouth too dry
Or make my eyes too red . . .

I want a new drug
One that wont spill
One that dont cost too much
Or come in a pill

I want a new drug
One that wont go away
One that wont keep me up all night
One that wont make me sleep all day . . .

I want a new drug
One that does what it should
One that wont make me feel too bad
One that wont make me feel too good

I want a new drug
One with no doubt
One that wont make me talk too much
Or make my face break out . . ."

SallyC 04-02-2008 10:35 AM

Some days, Leroy Brown...Meaner than a Junk Yard Dog, suits me.:D

tkrik 04-02-2008 10:44 AM

Sally - thanks for the attitude adjustment.:D That is a good song to live by. Much better than Neil Young's "helpless, helpless, helpless . . ."

CayoKay 04-02-2008 11:53 AM

Help me, I think I'm falling in love too fast
It's got me hoping for the future, and worrying about the past
'Cause I've seen some hot, hot blazes come down in smoking ash
We love our loving
Not like we love our freedom...

(Joni Mitchell)

CayoKay 04-02-2008 11:56 AM

Hope to get to someplace soon
I want to get up
When I wake up
But when I get up
I fall down

I fall down
When I'm falling down
I fall down
I broke myself

(U2)

CayoKay 04-02-2008 11:58 AM

another one that I amuse myself by singing:

I am falling down
Try and stop me
It feels so good to hit the ground
You can watch me
Fallin' on my face

It's an uphill human race
and I am falling down
I'm standing out in the street
The earth is moving
I feel it under my feet
And I'm still proving
That I can stand my ground

(Avril Lavigne)

CayoKay 04-02-2008 12:41 PM

Dizzy......
I'm so dizzy, my head is spinnin'
Like a whirlpool, it never ends
And it's MS, makin' me spin

It's makin' me dizzy

(The Archies, I think, modifications by lil ol' me, lol)

Riverwild 04-02-2008 05:09 PM

The classic from Marshall Tucker Band:

Can't you pee? Oh can't you pee...

what this MS has been doing to me...:p

KarenMarie 04-02-2008 07:13 PM

Perfect !!

tkrik 04-02-2008 07:30 PM

Of course I can't forget Led. I get the Led Out quite often . . .

"Been dazed and confused for so long its not true, . . ."

FlyFishin Momma 04-02-2008 07:36 PM

Today....as I was dropping things from my left hand several times today at work....I began to hum and think of this thread.....

I was humming...
Dont tell my arm....my achey breaky arm...I just dont think it'd understand...cuz if ya tell my arm my achey breaky arm......it might haul off and cause ya harm......

tkrik 04-02-2008 07:59 PM

FFM - I love it! LOL. That is a good one. I'll have to remember that.
