Well....I knew it would eventually happen and it did.

You should have seen my husband's face when I brought him over to the tv and explained "this is a pregnant man" and Alan says" "no way" and I said; WAY!!!

Seems the guy was born a woman named Tracy. He won beauty pageants. However his gender was wrong, and he took steps to correct this.

He took testosterone, which grea his beard and facial hair. He has muscles. He had a double mastectomy and they repositioned his nipples.

He always wanted to have his own child, so he never had his reproduction organs removed - so he had a womb.

Because he legally changed his gender, he legally got married to his wife 5 years ago. He got pregnant (using a sperm donor) last year, and had a miscarriage.

So this time, they got some sperm from a sperm bank, and his wife inseminated him with a syringe that she got from the vet's office. It took on the first try (I believe it was on the first try).

So he became pregnant. They even have a photo of him (he looks like a man), with a big stomach.

But the kicker was when Oprah was trying to ask him how they live as man and wife. The expression on her face was priceless.

It seems that years ago he took testosterone and her clitoris GREW into a penis. So he tells Oprah "I have a small penis". Well, I made my husband come over to the tv and watch the thing with me and he got the heebie jeebies, and said "I have now heard everything"."Oh my God".

I said 'what??? it's 2008, did you really think you would never hear of a pregnant man??" and he said "Melody, in all my life, I never would have expected to see this".

And it seems their neighbors do not know of this. WELL THEY KNOW NOW DON'T THEY??

They finally found an OBGYN to take care of his pregnancy. They showed the ultrasound and everything. They are having a girl. He will be the father and she will be the mother.

Honestly, (and this is only my opinion), I bet every woman in this planet would love to have THEIR MAN GIVE BIRTH FOR THEM. No more labor, no stretch marks.

This transexual must still have her/his ovaries as well as a uterus? How else would this transexual have enough progesterone to support a pregnancy? Are artificial hormones being given to support it? This person had periods too? As a transexual? Must have!

Totally confusing and MAJORLY confusing to the general public which typically does not understand reproduction physiology!

well i taped however i will have to pick a time to watch it. my brain just won't wrap the thought of a man who is really a woman i suppose giving birth.

if he/she choose to be a man :rolleyes:then by all means "be a man" but to play with genetics and bring a child in this world under those circumstances imho is treating a fetus like a lab rat.just because we have modern technology doesn't give us the right to play God and for something so personel, or at least should be to be televised speaks volumes to me. bless this little girls heart.

Because he is a man. Legally.

He stopped the testosterone in order to become pregnant. His hormone levels returned to normal. He had a tubal pregnancy previously so I think he lost at least one fallopian tube.

Let me see if I understand this....
 

A genetic female who keeps her sexual organs during a partial transexual
change.... can be made into a LEGAL male and hence get MARRIED?
And that person is still biologically a female but somehow a legal process
makes her now a man? Why did she keep her uterus and ovaries if she wanted to be a "man"?

It seems to me that the latter should be legal too!

What a messed up world we live in. If society can accept the first scenario, it should accept the second IMO.

I have some experience with transexuals. The the most recent one was a male to female who kept "her" penis, but looked and acted just like a female.
Her insurance policy was in a man's name not a woman's.

Did this transexual just change her name? Anyone can legally change a name. but I didn't know one could legally change one's gender. To go to that extreme and keep your "other organs" seems hypocritical to me.
I'm going to look this up... I am just amazed and stunned by it all.

Some think it's a hoax. Read that in Yahoo news. Maybe. Legally a man, this is all new (this "legal" stuff) to me. The doctor that helped her become a man , have they stepped forward? Is there an obstretian? (sp?). Is this person taking the right vitamins to prevent things. Will there be Amnio? Will he/she get stretch marks? Inquiring minds want to know!!!

Gotta agree w/mrsd.... Born a woman, got a womb, your'e a woman. The show left a very bad taste in my mouth. They are flat broke and are writing a book, doing interviews for $$$$$.

Oh, and I happen to know a lady who can grow just as good facial hair as HER and she doesn't take drugs to do it. *grin*

I think Dennis and I sat through the entire hour with our jaws on the floor! lol Boy, if I become a mother I just can't wait for the day I have to explain to my child how it's possible that one of her classmates has a pregnant father! Man, maybe I'll just stick to my pets! LOL

I agree with those who said hey if you got a uterus and the hormones to have a baby...you are still a woman...and I dont think right to be portraying as a man...then decide to have baby....best of both worlds I guess hehehee

anyhow surprised that Oprah has this topic on show...I mean you cant do commercials saying man having a baby....like a miracle..cause he is a woman....partly....wierd..hugsss,sarah...who is all female and given birth to six wonderful babies..naturally without a syringe hehe

I could have swallowed the whole thing better if the person just said it like it was...in my opinion, that they 'like' woman but can't swallow the whole thing, and somehow feel better if they look like men.

I think someone else may have said something similar.

I like to call them 'SHE-MEN'.

I think it sounds like a whole new species. And believe me, when Thomas sells the book rights, and they make the movie of the week about it, these people are going to be rolling in dough.

And when the baby is born, forget about the asking price of those pictures.

Never in all my life, did I think I would ever see a person with the top of a man (flat chest and all), a beard and mustache and he's having a baby.

Actually Melody, I have an Aunt who's flat chested and she has a mustache. She gave birth to 3 handsome boys......probly a good thing she didn't have any girls. LMAO;):D

What happens to his kids is anyone's guess at this point. Regardless, we will love whatever comes...no matter what.

Did you read the whole story?? it's extremely clear. The man, Thomas, who was born Tracey, and who had a double mastectormy, changed his gender legally and got married. He did not however, have his reproductive organs removed. Hence. he is biologically still a woman from the waist down (even though he has a little penis).

He is pregnant, and HE will give birth (naturally I would assume), baring complications, and if there are any, they'll deliver via caesarian.

So when they say a MAN IS PREGANT, they actually mean A WOMAN WHO BECAME A MAN, ALTHOUGH NOT ALL THE WAY, ....that's who is pregnant.

This guy Thomas, he married 5 years ago to a woman who can no longer have any kids.

So when HE delivers, they will be a parental unit. He will be the daddy and his wife will be the mommy.

Not too unusual in the animal kingdom. Some male species carry the child (seahorse I believe).

Absolutely fascinating if you ask me.

This is NOT a typical transexual situation.

I personally think this was done to get the permission to MARRY.

This is a masculine lesbian who wanted to marry her lover.
Since our society does not yet allow this, a compromise was made.

So Tracey took testosterone to enhance her already masculine tendencies, but KEPT her sexual organs. True transexuals would not do this. Having periods, and other female things would revolt a real transexual.

So just using testosterone is easy.

And women get mastectomies to prevent cancer. (that is not so rare these days).

I hate to say this, but there is a certain "street value" for some hermaphrodites.
I suspected that motivation for the person I knew, since "she" had HIV as well, and lived a rather "rough" life. "She" kept her penis, because it was valuable! Just my opinion.

Life is sure getting STRANGE!

And yesterday on the Access-a-ride the driver (who had seen the Oprah Show), looked at me and listened while the crew on the Access a Ride was travelling into the city, and we were all talking about the Pregnant man.

Well, the driver looked at us and said 'Yeah, I saw the show, that guy was a fake right?" Well, you should have seen his face when Alan chimed in "no, he was a woman, who wants to be a man, but wanted his own kid, so he kept his organs but had a mastectomy".

Well, the guy looked at us and said "back home where I come from "The Dominican Rebublic", this would never happen". We said "why"?, and he said "are you kidding? , this guy would walk down the street and get shot". "But here in America, you can do ANYTHING!!!!"

I really never saw it from that point of view.

While I don't understand the desire to be another gender than what you were born - there are people who do. Like someone else said - doctor's can turn a man into a woman or a woman into a man - WHY can't they find a cure for MS or ALS or other terrible diseases?

If Tracey wanted to become Thomas then OK - it's not illegal. Different but not illegal.

What I don't agree with is that she is now considered legally a male but still has her female reproductive organs. That's not a male. That's a female with a medically altered physique.

Men were not created to have babies. Women were not created to have male "parts".

This whole thing is strange to me - and I feel sorry for the little baby who will have to live a lifetime under a microscope.

This whole thing seems pretty selfish to me. :(

I'm so tired of daytime "freak shows" to entertain an audience. I feel sorry for the unborn child. It will be a little hard to explain when he/she grows up and has to explain his parents to his classmates and their parents who will remember hearing about it on TV. :eek:

In 1998, people in my support group for amyloidosis talked about trying to get on Oprah or Maury Povich to promote awareness of this rare disease. People pushed me to try to get on and tell my story. I thought it might be a good idea. We all wrote to them, but were never invited to appear. My case was turned down flat because it's extremely rare and genetic. People wouldn't be interested because it wouldn't effect them in any way and I hadn't turned "grotesque" yet. :rolleyes:

I'm thankful now I didn't appear on any of those shows. People only watch for the thrill factor, talk about it for a day or so, then go about their day. It's just a chance for them to say "Thank God I'm not him/her" or "Ewwwww, look at the freak." :rolleyes:

I'm glad I never turned into just an episode on TV.

It's a shame that pregnant "man" and his wife thought more about themselves (fame and fortune) than their unborn baby. :(

I also wrote to Oprah, both about having a show on Aspergers and having a show on Neuropathy.

And you are so right. People (at least MOST people) won't tune into a show unless it concerns them, or it has some salacious tone to it.

Look at how well The Biggest Loser is doing on TV. Because obesity is so prevalent in the USA, (and other parts of the world), this show is raking in the ratings. I know that I never miss an episode. I didn't know there was a biggest lower Australia. Probably a biggest loser France too ....lol

Boy could Alan and I show them a thing or two.

But there are too few of us and more 35 year olds who wish to change.

I give these people major respect. To go from 400 lbs to being a builder is absolutely amazing. When I saw the guy from Australia and how he changed, holy cow.

Makes me more motivated than ever.

Remember the old Sally Jesse Raphael show? She would definitely have had thie pregnant man on.

I'd only get personal satisfaction out of this story if it were a REAL man giving birth..Yeah, baby, I got your pain!..LOL.
Remember that movie with Billy Crystal years ago being the first pregnant man? He got pregnant because he was on top...:D I think it was Joan Rivers that came up with the movie idea..Hilarious..
Anyway, if all it took to be a "man" was facial hair and no chest, there wouldn't be many women over 50 around anymore..Or lack of facial hair and a chest ~ I've seen a lot of guys with "man-boobs" who'd qualify..Now I'm just confusing myself. :rolleyes:

Personally - having never in my life watched Oprah and never will - that after reading these posts - I think the entire situation is positively disgusting - and I guess the carnival has come to everyday life -
