Computer Usage !
All of us like our computers. Some of us have written temporary goodbyes due to the addicting nature of the beast!
I myself just disappeared for a week or so thinking I'd not be on the computer much, if I only played games. LOL I found myself spending MORE time on the computer!!! What I want to know is - how much time are we REALLY spending on the computer??? AND how many groups you regularly check into..... Check all that apply! |
I think this will be interesting to see too Bird........great idea.........
I spend 1-3 checking my email and the 1-3 sites I visit daily......lol.lol... does that help? Monday - friday...this applies but..... Not near as much on weekends when DH is home though..... (he is on it muh more hen I am on the weekends.....lol...lol...lol..... |
A good portion of my time on the computer is spent working so I do have more hours. This entails the research that I need to do, checking e-mails, downloading and uploading of files, etc.
Play time can vary depending on the day and what I have going on. |
I check email - I check the news on My Yahoo - I come here and read or play -

What can I say. The computer is the biggest part of my life now. Yes I'm the one who admilled to 7 to 9 hrs on computer..
I turn on the computer upon rising, when ever that is, and usually stay on until nap time. Then, at least 4 hrs in the evening. Used to be more, but I go to bed a little earlier now...about midnight..LOL And to think, I didn't even have a computer until I was 61/62. When DH passed away, I was 63 and this, became my home. I spend most of my time right here at NT. I do go play Word Whomp at Pogo and work some downloaded jig saw puzzels, and do all my shopping online.....and of course check my e-mail ( I have bunches of e-mail buds.:) Anyone else as addicted as I am? Come on, admit it..:D |

Did I see Pogo? LOL I play games on there too! Maybe we've bumped into each other and didn't know! Anyone else out there Pogo? :D |
How many hours are there in a day? Because I think I need more time on the computer. :laptop:
I spend a lot of time on the computer reading fan fiction, and checking the forums that I go to. I read this forum and I'm on about 3 or 4 other forums that are crochet and knitting related. I'm also always searching for new crochet or knitting patterns, so if I'm not on a forum chatting with someone, I'm probably googling for a crochet pattern. |
Tricky question. A lot of the time I am "at" but not "on" the computer. My desk is by the window, and I more or less park here off and on during the day. The computer might be running, but I'm not necessarily using it!
I am serious about checking my email. Unless something hinders me, I check it at least in the morning and evening, and usually once in the middle of the day. I don't like to miss anything. In the morning I check the weather, the local news site, Google news, my granddaughter's facebook page, my two daily comics (Pickles and Dilbert), "Dead or Alive" to see whose birthday it is, ebay (if I've got something coming or going), NT, MSWorld, and two religious groups. On work days, I'm probably "on" for a half hour in the morning, maybe an hour at night. Week-end or "off" days, maybe twice that. Probably add a few hours a week for when I'm shopping, researching something, or working offline (such as writing, doing the church bulletin, letters, etc.) I don't think I'm addicted, but I surely would hate to be without it! Especially on days when I don't feel well and want to connect with empathetic people, such as yourselves. |
I had to answer 10 or more hours on the computer, but 8 of those are at work! Sometimes I am on in the evening for an hour or two, it just depends on how rough a day I've had at work and if I need to take a nap like I did last night! LOL
On the weekends, I'm probably on about 10-12 hours a day, mostly my game on those days because I need to do something fun to unwind! :D |
I included my normal four hours at work where I'm on a puter the whole time.
LOL, being married to a computer guy I am definitely surrounded. With the weather warming up, I'll probably be on less and less. |
I'm glad some of those 10 plus hours are work time too! Whew! I guess what I really was looking for was leisure time!
And I too also usually am on the computer less on the weekends. I really feel that sometimes I park here too much! I think the computer has been a blessing this past year. I met some lovely people on it. Talking to people and playing games has helped my cognition come back to good speed. But I noticed especially playing games, that I tended to tell my family to wait a minute "I can't come/talk/listen right now, I have to finish this game." No one complained, but it really bugged me, so I'm trying to not be sitting here quite so much!!! On sites, on email I can let it sit and deal with whatever, but those games!!! LOL uh oh!!!! |
I spend about 1-3 hours on average. I am trying to only do mornings and the rest of the day not so much. It really all depends on what's happening. If I am into a great discussion it could be all day! lol
I also visit other sites. I visit Ebay, Facebook. Myspace, HealthEVet, Tricare, my bank, credit card and Bill Pay. Oh and the Illinois Senate! Gotta check on those bills being passed! |

In that vein, did you know that the "Farm Bill" is being discussed for passage. It is designed to help farmers recover from disasters. BUT NOOOOO, some schmuck added a provision to give thoroughbred owners in Kentucky a huge pile of cash (36 million in an ammendment). Does that sound like farm relief? Good grief. And yet, with all of our medical turmoil, the needed provisions to help people in real need are being wiped-out. -Vic |
It is insane Vic. We had a bad summer two years ago and many farmers lost their farms. Some had been in the family since way back when. Hurricane Katrina hit at the same time. Many are not sure if we lost money to Katrina or it just never happened considering Katrina was a mess as well.
Speaking of watching the live feed of the Senate. I was amazed at how many senators stopped the process to introduce people. They can stop the flow of a bill being passed to introduce Bubba from Tim Buck two? Silly, if you ask me. If the people introduced added some form of substance to a particular bill I could understand the whole process better. Not to mention we completely missed if the SB 2865 bill even passed to the third reading, which is why we were intent to listen to three hours of jousting. They have yet to update their journals so I can check on it. I honestly don't think anyone is listening during those meetings. The president had to stop to remind the Senate why they were there and to knock off all the talking, laughing and cell phone usage. PS: Just read that SB2865 Amendment #2 has been sent to the Rules committee. At least it hasn't been tossed out. OK, back to the scheduled thread. I think Victor and I are on the computer alot. lol |

Sometimes I can spend more time looking at/for crochet patterns then actual crochet time. It's amazing how time can go by so quickly when the eyes are glued to the monitor. |
I hardly ever watch tv anymore, but I am here a bit much.
Thank you Vic for bringing that bill to our attention. |
