I need your input on this!!!
Okay, I need your input on this one. Alan asked me what I wanted for my anniversary. The answer was simple. A portable steam machine. But not some piece of junk that I paid $26.00 for on ebay a long time ago and it sputtered, and it didn’t keep steaming, and I threw it away.
But the concept is good. Look at this one. They show a video of how it works. (This is how I learned all about the Shark Steam Mop before I bought one). This one is the Monster 1200 This one has 1200 watts of steam. The total, after tax and shipping and handling is $83.00 http://www.getmonster1200.com/Defaul...clusion&bhcp=1 Now here’s ANOTHER one by Euroflex that some guy is selling on Ebay for $59.00 plus 10 bucks shipping and handling. This one is 1000 watts of power http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA:IT&ih=005 These are two different machines made by the same company. I can’t seem to find any pros or cons on any websites. I always like to see reviews before I purchase anything. So have any of you heard of these??. I want one that will keep steaming. At least with the Monster 1200 you get to see the video and hopefully, it does what it’s supposed to do. But it’s more money than the other one. It’s also more wattage. Opinions and comments are cheerfully requested. |
OOOH! Melody, I always wanted one of those. If it was me, I wouldn't squabble over the few bucks and get the new one. :)
Happy Anniversary! |
THEY ARE BOTH NEW.
In the ebay one (and he has several up), it is all new and sealed. But I did a very smart thing. I contacted one of the buyers on ebay who bought the $59.00 I wrote to her and asked her how she like her purchase and if it lived up to it's promises. WELL, SHE WROTE ME BACK YESTERDAY AND SHE SAID: "Well to be honest, I was very dissapointed. It arrived and it looked just fine, but well, it didn't live up to what it claimed to do" So I immediately wrote back thanking her and saying "can you be a bit more specific, did it just sputter and not keep the steam". I'm definitely not buying the $59.00 one. When I saw the Monster 1200 and I saw the video on that website I said "this is the one I want". But I don't want to buy ANYTHING until I find someone who has used it. This is my goal. I don't want to blindly throw out $83 for an item that loses steam after 5 minutes. That's what happened to my little Shark Steamer. I only paid $26.00 for it. But it didn't live up to what it claimed either. I would never buy a used appliance anywhere. You never know..it might come with problems. So these two items are brand new. Only I now know I'm not getting the $59.00 one. I want others to take a look at the Monster 1200 and give me their ideas. Thanks so much Melody |
Melody,
You're a smart cookie! ;) |
I may be a smart cooke but THIS COOKIE NEEDS INPUT!!!
I'm not buying any portable steam machine until someone tells me they've viewed the video on the MONSTER 1200 site and they believe what they see. Me??? I don't believe ANYTHING I SEE. I like to test run products. That's why I do informercials on youtube. To save other people from going out and wasting money. Take for example the One Touch Can Opener. Saves my life, saves my hands, and works exactly the way it is supposed to. And the Pedegg. This thing is a little slice of heaven. And don't get me started on how wonderful my steam mop is. I've done a commercial on that one too. Oh, I know what to do. I'm going to go to youtube and see if anyone did their own videos on portable steam machines. Be back later. |
Let us know what you find out! :) Couldn't you go to 'Costco or BJ's' and see if they sell them, then if you didn't like it you could return it. They're pretty good taking things back.
From what I read....you like to shop! |
Unforunately we have no way to get to Costco's or BJ's.
Alan stopped driving 7 years ago and we do not own a car anymore. I have no idea if Costco's sells any steam machine, but I can go to theri website. What a great idea, thank you. Oh, I went to youtube and they have LOADS of videos on steam machines but there is no video for the MONSTER 1200. I see that this is going to be a journey. Oh, don't buy a Tobi. I saw a vdeo on youtube (in french no less), and as soon as the guy plugged in the Tobi, it started to leak. Wow, the stuff I learn on youtube is amazing. |
I always look the item up on Amazon when I want reviews. If they sell it, you can get people's opinions there! I just bougt a steam mop, it's called SteamFast, on ebay. I'm happy with it. I wasn't looking for something high-end, I just wanted something to sterilize the floors for the baby now that he's crawling.
|
Melody - I always check websites o see if they sell something I'm looking to buy. Most of them have a review system too. That way, I can see what a few other people thought of it. Sure, they are strangers, and I can't ask them questions. But it does give you some idea if they liked it or not.
Amazon is the first place I look - they have just about everything and the site is a snap to navigate. But on another note - if it were me, I'd ask for jewelry for the anniversary. Get the steamer because you need it, but jewelry is a nicer gift. :D |
Melody,
I don't drive, but my hubby takes me where ever I need to go....I love going to 'Costco' and recently rejoined 'BJ's. I know that 'Costco's has a website. Not sure about 'BJ's. Oh, and by the way I was reading your little blog about being on the 'Welcoming Committee' and saw your pictures. Very beautiful face, and it was great to read about your life and all the obstacles you have over come. Very nice to get to know you. :) |
Trust me, I don't need jewelry.
I'm 60 years old, in love with a clean house, and I adore my Steam Mop I have ALWAYS wanted a hand held (good one though) steam machine. And I know that jewelry is a great gift. Always has been. I've gotten the earrings, the ring, the bracelet, the body scrubs, the body washes, ( I have so much body wash I could float down the Mississsipi), and we ALWAYS go out to eat on mom's day, anniversary, etc. But when he asked me "what do you want"? OH my god, the first thing I thought of was that steam thingee. If I were 30, I'd ask for a face-lift. Or a boob job, or something from NIP/TUCK. But we are both on social security and have limited means, so ANYTIME THIS MAN SAYS TO ME "WHAT DO YOU WANT"?? I go for the big items...... STEAM CLEANER THINGEES. lol |
When I was 30, nothing needed nipped or tucked. Now, they need to be replaced.
:D I used to be lil miss practical. When the husband would ask what I wanted - birthday, Christmas, etc - I would say I needed a sweeper, I needed a dishwasher. Hey, we finally had a house with a place to put one and the old one died. Now, I figure the kids are grown and it's not so much what I need. What about all the things I went without to raise them? It would be nice to have a few nice things before I die. So for my birthday this year he asks what I want and I said a nice handbag - I had to point out which one. So he and the kids chip in and I got my first ever designer handbag. Finally, a purse that did not come from a store that ends in *Mart* LOL. I'm not a real materialistic girl, but it's nice to have one that isn't plastic for a change. :p |
I hear you.
Last year was my handbag phase. I bought a new handbag every week. We have a handbag store near my home that sells the knock off's Luis Vuitton. Well, I got a bag for $28.00 that is to die for. The other day at Dunkin I'm standing in line and there to my left was a young girl with my handbag. I looked at her and she looked at me and we both burst out laughing. I said 'I bet your's is real, right?" and she said "For $500 it better be". Alan chimed in "you paid $500 for your bag??" She said "I wanted the real thing". Alan and I took our coffee, walked to a table and Alan said: "I will never question anything you buy EVER AGAIN!!!" I started laughing. what kind of designer handbag did you get?? |
Oh Mel that's funny same thing ,with me life may hurt, but still be so funny.
Hi Mel nice to meet you.lol Hugs ro all Sue |

I got a Sharif leather hobo - but I didn't pay no $500 for it, lol. It was from HSN.
:D |
NICE BAG!!!!
Now all you need is some pocketbook jewelry. Around here, we all hang stuff from our bags. It decorates them. I have jewelry hanging from all my bags. I go to the local 99 cents stores and buy keyrings with things attached. Some of them have the Lord's Prayer, some of them have pretty little do-dads. Okay, just uploaded the photos to photobucket. Here’s my $28.00 Luis Vuitton bag. Look at the right side. This is my pocketbook jewelry. It’s just some key ring that someone once gave me. I think it looks neat. And I still can't believe I only paid $28.00 for this bag. http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/j...uisvuitton.jpg Now here is my white pocketbook with the pink keyring hanging on it. http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/j...pocketbook.jpg Now here is a closeup of the white pocketbook so you can see the little (palm trees), hanging from it. http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/j...kjewelry-1.jpg I have pocketbook jewelry hanging from ALL my bags. It just makes them a bit more festive. If I were going to a serious occasion, of course I’d wear one of my black pocketbooks without any pocketbook jewelry. I had never heard of pocketbook jewelry until my friend told me about it. See, I’m 60 and can still learn new stuff. |
I've Been Checking the Monster 1200 Out Also
Hi Melody,
I actually ran across this site & your post while I was researching the Monster 1200 on Google ... wild huh ? I'd recommend you Google it, there are several posts from people who have used it, some say it's no good. I'm like you ... I hate to spend my little bit of income on products that don't do what they promise & then try to fight for my refund, etc. I have extensive nerve damage to my lower back, along with titanium rods & screws to hold me together, so housework is difficult to say the least. And something like this would be a real God send if it works. Sorry I don't have much info yet, but if you hear anything I'd love to know too. Best of luck & GOD Bless Ya' BIG !!!! ... the thought of diamonds didnt cross your mind mel or a trip to jamica..... a steam cleaner?, that should be an after anniversary gift
hope you two enjoy your special day, steam cleaning |
Okay talk about coincidence. I overheard some ladies talking about steam cleaners in the store the other day.
This woman tells her friend "Get a Hahn, (sp) it's the only one that does NOT leak, and I've tried them all, trust me." Her friend says smethign about having wood floors. She says yep, she does the tile, no problem the wood, no problem. sounds like it only does floors? I immediately thought of you Melody. Couldn't catch up with those two to ask any questions though, sorry. |
I've just about given up on the Monster Steam Cleaner. If I should ever discover one (and I'm going to google HAHN right now), I'll let you guys know.
Take care, Melody P.S. Okay, I googled HAHN Steam Cleaners. Here's what came up (it looks like my Shark Steam Mop) http://samplemall.ecplaza.net/consum...m_cleaner.html |
if u are gonna insist on a cleaner have you looked up sharks i ahve one darn good little toy
|
Melody,
I'm a guy who watched the infomercial and then began my usual research. I saw some input on the qvc site that I will include here. Didn't sound good. Hmmm...they wouldn't post my reply with the link because I'm new in here. Sorry. But it was on the QVC website and just do a search there for Monster 1200 and there are some reviews there. None were favorable. Sounded like a piece of junk. :( But I love the fact that you asked for something like this on your anniversary. I'd get killed if I showed up with a gift like this, and my wife is by no means a worldly lady. After 33 years I know the rule well...nothing practical or for the kitchen. Now, your comments about the steam mop (Shark, I think) interested me. I remember seeing that infomercial quite some time ago and did some research but then forgot about it. Sure looked good on TV, but you know how that can be. So, you really like it? Tell me what you can. My wife has had a bad back since our second child (21 years ago) and I've been doing the floors ever since. Ok, I can here you ladies laughing that I fell for that. :) So I'm always looking for the next best thing for floors. My wife has RA also and that is a real bummer, though it's now pretty much under control. Interesting how I fell into this forum talking about a steam cleaner. I guess I'll get an e-mail if you respond. |
Well hi there.
If you haven't seen my infomercial on the Shark Steam Mop, click on this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_TkM...eature=channel Then when you are finished, go over to the right, where it says "more videos by eliz7212" and you'll scroll and then you'll find my other video where I made a carpet glider to attach to the bottom of the Sharm Steam Mop. In that video you can clearly see how it steams up. I love it, it takes EVERYTHING off of the floor (I have all tile, but a small carpet in my computer room). So for me, being no chemicals are used and it does what it's supposed to do, well I love it. And as far as my asking for a Steam Cleaner from my husband (I ordered the Monster 1200, they didn't have it in stock, they refunded my money, and I'm happy because I just read what you wrote). So I never did get a Monster 1200. That's okay, because I use the Sonic Scrubber on everything. I did an infomercial on that too. Go and look at all my videos. I made infomercials on everything that I bought. You'll have a good laugh. Oh, want to know what I asked Alan to get me for my Christmas present? A frying pan. Want to know why? Because I have all the perfume I need, all the bath soap I could use, all the lotions, potions, whatever. He has no fashion sense so he can't buy me clothes. He would have gotten me a gift certificate to one of the local spas but honestly, BECAUSE I COOK mostly everything that I grow, and I could really use a good frying pan, I said "get me a frying pan". Alan responded "are you for real, you want a frying pan for Christmas?" I said "yeah". Now if I was 30 years old again, I would expect a negligee, but I'm not 30 years old anymore and I need those things. I NEED A GOOD FRYING PAN. Oh, can anyone suggest a good one. I gave up on Teflon coated because I was scared of the chipping. But if they make a good one that anybody can recommend, then lease post here. Christmas is awaiting!!! lol Mel |
A FRYING PAN...that's priceless! I know how that would be used if I brought that home for Christmas! You sound like a lady to die for, Melody. lol
Thanks for the input on the Shark. I watched your video and some others as well and there are mixed reviews, as is usually the case, but looks like it would serve my purpose. Thanks! Have a Merry Christmas with that frying pan. I remember well one of my mother's specialties in the frying pan...fried apples. Mmmmmmm. |
