It's Duane Eddy's birthday

I love Duane Eddy. So cool.

AfterMyNap 04-26-2008 12:58 PM

The only one I know from him is that one, Rebel Rouser or something. It goes like this:

Bwong, bwong, booong, bong bwong bwong booooong. Bleahhhhh bah blaaaah bleah bleah bleaa bwahp bah blaaahhh. Is that the one?

Blessings2You 04-26-2008 01:47 PM

Yeah! That's the one! (Except without the sarcasm...:D)

So, let me get this straight, you think I play a "sarcastic" sax?

Okay, Miss Expert, let's hear your version!

Blessings2You 04-26-2008 04:42 PM

Uh...no sax. I think you're thinking of someone else...

So, you're going to make me go look it up. I'm thinkin' you're confused! How much ya' wanna bet me?

Hold on, I'll go find it.

AfterMyNap 04-26-2008 04:48 PM

Ayup, I'm not hard of listening, that's definitely a sax that comes in after the bwong bwonging guitar.

What was our wager again? Oh, right, 50 gallons of gas. Please have it delivered, I'm out!:p

Blessings2You 04-26-2008 05:12 PM

Well, yes, but Duane Eddy's not PLAYING it.

Blessings2You 04-26-2008 06:05 PM

Hmm. You think I made a wager? Tsk tsk, I think your cog fog is getting a LOT worse...so sad...

AZjanie 04-26-2008 06:07 PM

Everyone appreciates good sax!

Blessings2You 04-26-2008 06:21 PM

Uh...um...er...:o

AZjanie 04-26-2008 07:14 PM

Bill Clinton played sax too!

I tried a sax years ago in school but just got a squawk so kept up my piano lessons hoping someday they would let me play piano in a marching band!

Blessings2You 04-26-2008 07:17 PM

I wanted a saxophone, but clarinets were cheaper, so that's what I got.

SallyC 04-26-2008 08:46 PM

Who's Duane Eddy and who cares if he doesn't play the sax, anyway?? :p:D

AZjanie 04-26-2008 10:43 PM

Oh yeah!

I googled him and he played the Peter Gunn theme and Ghost Riders in the Sky.

I just didn't recognize the name.

Of course I was just an infant when these songs were popular.

Blessings2You 04-27-2008 05:33 AM

Rub It In, Janie!!!

AZjanie 04-27-2008 09:41 AM

Tee Hee Hee!!! :D

Thanks for that link AMN.

DH and I listened to some darn good foot tappin' music there, and even went onto watch his Peter Gunn & Ghost Riders clips as well.

Thanks for the memories! http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/i...exicanwave.gif

Yup, Duane Eddy was 70 on 4/26/08:) The one of many I loved was "Rebel Rouser". He won a Grammy for "Peter Gunn". Duane Eddy played guitar and the deep "twangy" sound was produced by playing the guitar's bass strings. Steven Douglas played the sax for countless groups like The Beach Boys, Duane Eddy, Jan and Dean, etc. Love his guitar playing in all his songs:yahoo::You-Rock: Duane Eddy;)

SallyC 04-28-2008 01:50 PM

Now I know why I didn't remember him. He's much older than I..:D

Anybody ever hear of Aker Bilk??

He's older than I am too but I sure like his songs and guitar playing:D

Blessings2You 04-28-2008 04:22 PM

Generally referred to as MR. Aker Bilk...oh how I loved "Stranger on the Shore". I used to play it over and over on my clarinet. I can't believe I didn't drive my parents crazy. Oh wait...
