Stay Awake!

How do you stay awake?

I have to get an EEG done tomorrow and need to stay awake until midnight tonight and get up at 3 a.m. Mind you I was ready for bed at 7 last night.

So, I thought I'd ask you all how you stay awake. (Oh, I'm not allowed to have caffeine either). Don't be afraid to get silly with this thread as I may get some idea in all the silliness and hijacking. LOL.

AfterMyNap 04-30-2008 09:32 AM

You can do it, T, remember that dresser you've been meaning to clear out for the Goodwill? It's time! What about that pantry? You know you've been wanting to clean the nooks and crannies. Get some bubble gum and try to break a world record. Get on the phone with an old friend. Come online and talk to Koala, she's up all night, so is that lunatic, Jessiesue! What ever you do, just don't lie down or kick back in your recliner! :) You'll make it.

FlyFishin Momma 04-30-2008 09:32 AM

First I gotta ask....
why in the world ya gotta stay up so late and get up so early????

seems to me you should go to bed early and rest until you gotta go to get the test.....so ya get passin grades lol...

I was gonna ask the same thing???? That I would not be able to do.

I think AMN has got some good ideas. Work on something that will keep you busy. That might help you out.

Good luck!

tkrik 04-30-2008 09:50 AM

FFM & Girlie - I think they're trying to kill me by wearing my brain down even more. LOL. Actually, they are trying to see if I am having seizures (small ones I don't even notice). I guess this is standard procedure for EEG's. I didn't know that people with MS can have MS related seizures. This was new to me and I've been doing some research on it. It is not that common and I don't fully understand it as I am on Neurontin.

AMN - I'm calling you in the middle of the night to chit chat about a bunch of nothing. LOL.

Remember I'm on Pacific time. Of course at 3 a.m. I could call one of my east coast sisters. All my sisters as well as brothers and DBF would kill me if I called them at midnight just to talk so I can stay awake.

I did think about cleaning out my closets, cabinets, etc. but it is scorpion season and I want full light when I do that. I guess I could use my art lamp or get a flood light. :D I also need to keep somewhat quite as DDs would be sleeping and need to go to school the next day.

Maybe I can catch up with the security guard here and walk around patrolling the complex with him. LOL.

No, no cutie pie here. He's an elderly retired military man. It could be very entertaining though but all that walking might fatigued me and then I'd want to come home and sleep.

Maybe I could prank call people. :D. Oh wait, that doesn't work anymore with caller ID. LOL.

FinLady 04-30-2008 10:54 AM

When I had to have this test done, I played video games all night. Gave me something to do since I couldn't have caffine and would definitely fall asleep reading a book or watching tv.

Best of luck.

"*68" baby!

tkrik 04-30-2008 11:01 AM

Fin - Great idea. Some of those video games really can get you adrenaline pumping.

Ok, so what's your number? LOL Anyone else? I'm taking numbers down so I can prank call everyone so I can stay awake. :D

Twinkletoes 04-30-2008 11:06 AM

Hmmmm. I don't know.

1-976-BABE

tkrik 04-30-2008 11:20 AM

AMN - Is that kind of like 1-800-CRY-BABY? LOL.

I would go for a drive but until I get this test done and results back, I am not to drive. UGH! Double UGH! (Ok, I did sneak a little and drove for the shear thrill of driving again! I just had to. I can't stand this hermititis as well as the independentitis that I have.)

I won't give you mine (gotta have my beauty rest!!:D) but I know a few people I could stand to see LESS OF so I'll be happy to give you THEIR numbers. Feel free to call them anytime (the later the better!!) :stirthepot:

Hey, I need my beauty rest too! DDs are dreading this as they know how cranky I get when I don't nap let alone only sleeping 3 hours! There have been times when I have been cranky and DD17, oh wait she's 18 now, DD18 has told me to go take a nap. LOL.

Great idea on the numbers. So I can take numbers for anyone that wants to "get back" at someone. I'll prank call in the middle of the night now that AMN gave that tip of *68. Just let me know what you want me to say as well as the time zone you are in so I can all at the most inopportune time.

Or maybe I could be someone's hired stalker for a few hours. Naw, then I'd have to just sit there and I surely would fall asleep.

weegot5kiz 04-30-2008 11:51 AM

oh my such creative people lol

yeah i spent time online, cleaning and playing a few vidoe games wasnt easy, all this just so you will fall asleep during the test,

TK you been having seizures? my last relapse not this one, i did have 3 of them witnessed by others here at home, not petites but not real bad grand mals either so they tested and found activity, but wasnt sure if one of the meds i was on might be causing it so needless to say that med doesnt pass my lips no more, dont ask which one i dont recall, but the one that sticks out is the baclofen, that pill caused more troubles with my legs and spasms and doc worried it was that pill doing the seizing too, pretty sure I have not had one since, i got off that med, it could of been another med not sure, think i am correct on which one it was

i hope everything goes well for you T , keep me posted would like to know whats up

hollym 04-30-2008 12:12 PM

All I can offer is good luck. A sleep deprived EEG sounds like pure torture to me.

I can't even stay awake during the day with caffeine and Provigil. Video games and being on the computer make me even more tired and I fall asleep sitting up.

Me too! Except I don't take Provigil. I have been up for 4 hours now and really want to take a nap but I'm waiting for my C to be delivered.

Frank - I don't know what is up. This was all a shock to me and I am not a happy camper about it. In fact, it has taken me a few weeks to even talk about it. I was explaining some concerns I had at the neuros. I thought I was having trouble with my vision as well as processing the information my eyes were seeing. Well, she said it sounded like I was getting confused.:confused: and since I had been jerking a lot in my sleep she felt I might be having seizures. (The ones that you aren't aware of). So, EEG here I go.

Pulling an all nighter without the dancing and partying, I've never done before. This will be a new experience for me. LOL.

Well Twink, come on down let's go. I promise not to take you to any biker bars. Remember the story of what happened when I went to one of those. LOL. DBF's friend saved my behind. LOL.

Everyone I know here will be sleeping because the kids have to go to school tomorrow, they work, etc. They are NOT going to want to go out dancing and partying on a work/school night.

Hey maybe I need different friends that want to relive their more youthful days (before kids, husbands, jobs, etc.). LOL.

weegot5kiz 04-30-2008 12:49 PM

I have sleep problems so i will be awake more than likely T

tkrik 04-30-2008 02:50 PM

Thanks Frank. I may be on here half the night too. :o

DM 04-30-2008 07:28 PM

Yes, the scorpions will be out! Freaks me out too. The other night we had a tarantula on our patio. It was a cute little baby. DBF's cat wanted at it but I wouldn't let her. They kill other bugs.

I'm awake, I'm awake. I took a late nap today (2 1/2 hours) so I can stay up later. Then I read the paper on what I am supposed to do and I am SO glad I did. I can only sleep between 3 and 4 hours tonight but I have to get up at 3:00 a.m. YEAH! I can go to bed at 11 instead of midnight. LOL. I am going to maximize my 4 hours. LOL.

AfterMyNap 05-01-2008 09:40 AM

So??? Didja make it????

tkrik 05-01-2008 01:14 PM

I made it! I stayed up late and got up early. It was so hard waking up at 3 in the morning. And when I did wake up I had to keep moving. My house is dusted, floors clean (except vacuuming), design for next painting is done, etc.

I'll find out the results next week at the neuros. I am hoping she says, go ahead and drive your fine. :D:cool:

tkrik 05-08-2008 11:07 AM

Today I find out my fate on driving. Oh man, I hope it is good. I seriously need my independence back. I need to get in that car and just go! LOL.

I did sneak a good drive one day as I couldn't stand it anymore. No accidents, no seizures that I know of, just pure enjoyment and thrill; windows down, sunroof open, music blaring.

Yes, that will be me again later on this morning. DD18 will be sitting next to me rolling her eyes and asking if she could roll the window up and turn the music down (which of course will be Led). LOL.

AfterMyNap 05-08-2008 11:59 AM

Oh, man, Tricia, I can't even fathom life without wheels! It's getting harder for me to do it, but I have no intention of giving up my ride any time soon.

God willing, you won't lose that treasured necessity and pastime!

DM 05-08-2008 01:12 PM

Let us know T what your results are. Hoping they give you your freedom back. :)

Riverwild 05-08-2008 01:37 PM

We're waiting!!!....:smileypray:

tkrik 05-08-2008 02:10 PM

I CAN DRIVE!!! Whoohoo! No seizure activity at all. I am beyond thrilled.:D It is amazing how much we place our driving on independence. Man, it feels good. It has been well over a month of, at 1st limited driving due to that nasty hug and pain, to no driving because of possible seizure activity.

DD18 was with me and she is excited as she gets her freedom back too. She won't have to run so many errands for me and pick up/drop off her sister as needed. DD16 will be excited as now she knows that she has dependable transportation with a nicer person as the driver. LOL.

We did discuss MS and focus/concentration issues and learning their effects on me. We also discussed the Celexa and at 1st she said increase it. No way, that would get me too wired. PCP started me on a higher dose and we had to lower it as it was way too much for this light weight. So we decided to lower it to 5 mg a day and see if my concentration and focus in high stimulus places improves.

tkrik 05-13-2008 10:26 AM

Twink - I found it. I did do an update. LOL.

Twinkletoes 05-13-2008 11:13 AM

No wonder I missed it: I worked that day and had meetings that night. :o

Happy to know that you are doing much better. :yahoo:
