I got my garden planted today and also the window boxes. Wren I am so happy to report that at least one of the Orioles is eating the oranges!! And they are using the bird bath a lot so I'm going to stop fussing about it.

I threw around a lot of grass seed..:o and maybe it'll sprout. Off to the Praise Service...Hugs for the room...:grouphug:

At this very moment, i'm waiting for my husband and son to get back from the store so i can finish making oatmeal cookies... :rolleyes: i needed one more cup of oatmeal... (Rick made Scott drive to the store)

We had a garage sale today and me and sis got sunburned.... (not badly)
it was pretty cold today... the wind was blowing and it only got up to the 60-s but I guess thats enough to get a sun burn...:rolleyes:

I'm working the front desk at work tomorrow as the girl who usually works it on Sundays is in the hospital... ALSO my Aunt Jo is in the hosptial with ecoli and some other things so I was wondering if you guys could remember her in your prayers.... Thats about it for me...

Went to a Pure Romance party last night with my daughter. :eek: Had a lot of fun, and not even going to tell you what I bought. :D

Grandson stayed with his Grandpa Dan last night so I didn't get to spend mcuh time with him until today. He is just so very precious and changing a lot. He's turned into such a sweet, loving little boy, it just blows my mind.

They came to town to visit me today, and he and I took a long walk and played on the swings and slide and teeter totter in the park behind me. We had tons of fun.

Realizing also how painful this ostheoarthritis is. My fingers hurt just awful.

Off to take a hot bath, a little TV, snacking and bed.

Packing and getting ready for my trip to Washington DC on Monday. Lots to do before I leave on Monday.

Lots of sad news today. 2 plane crashes in the same day...friends died. One on Friday afternoon...he and his son. One last night, he and 2 of his grandchildren.

Today my plate has lots of stuff - thank goodness -
It includes yet another trip :D:D:D - to the garden nursery after yesterday's biggie to buy MORE.

It includes prayers for David and Cheryl.

Yesterday afternoon I wrote for maybe 20-30 minutes trying to tell you all some things and gave up. I tried again last night and gave up again. Yesterday had so much pain and so much joy. I hope today has so much work in the dirt

My plate has a very naughty doggie on it!

I woke up to sunshine then I went to church ... I sing in the choir ... la la la la la

After lunch I pruned as much as I could of a lilac tree and a fruit tree - did some hosing down of the sidewalks... filled a bag with dead grass and leaves... picked up all the branches....

and now I'm tired but on the computer keeping up with my eBay sales.

am going to sister Sparkles for lamb tonight :D

David, what you wrote was very profound. I hope that you're not in the midst of the sadness it speaks of... and if you are, I hope things soon improve a bit.

I had ordered two of these CDs..one for me and one for my neighbor but after listening to it...I can't, wouldn't dream of giving it to her. It depressed the heck out of me so can't imagin it would help her at this stage in her grieving. We're all different..and I loved the personal letter that accompanied the CDs...they are praying that God will bless me and those I love through this recording..I love the idea of them being "a small not for profit ministry dedicated to bringing the power of song and spoken word testimonies to the process of healing." But!! I can't handle it.

On my plate will be this election....exciting to live in Indiana today.
Also need to go buy some bananas for my poison ivy. *grin

well, would you believe this:

Plump blueberries on top of steaming buckwheat waffles, two pipping sausages resting in their juices. Two fried eggs with the yokes gently pokes soaking through a slice of marble rye lightly toasted. The marriage of the yoke, the anise, the peppers(from the sausages) and the country scent of blueberries along with the farm sweetness of the sweet butter melting on top of the waffles consumating all together while I sip on my Ooolong tea.

OK, actually, I am having Special K cereal with tea. But the first choice sounded much much better!!

I have had a project that have been going through the DRT(Developmental Review Team) for the past two months. Every Weds we meet and every weds they give me and my partner a very hard time. Requesting ridiculous and outrageous things that you can tell that they simply don't want this project to happen. Even though we have followed every guidelines and rules.

I hope you all wish me luck cause I am about to give up on this project. So here is another Weds and hopefully, we'll get approved this time.

I have to be fair, we have won over most of the team except this ONE lady. I swear, she hates me, but I have NO idea why...*bigsigh...

Thank God you're only having Special K....LOL. I'm having So.Beach cereal w/yogurt on top...V8juice.

It's been pouring rain :D so I can't go out and work in the dirt today. I can stay inside ... eat and nap. :D The TV weatherman is saying the thunderstorms will continue so I won't be here very much..........
I'll swing my chair around so I can sit and peek out the window to watch those orioles gobble more stuff. I had to make ANOTHER grape jelly holder. We now have two pair of orchard orioles too. I had never in my life see one of those before.
No one has ever accused me of spelling anything correctly but I spell "misspelling" with two s's.

I have really enjoyed your photos. Da wife saw an oriole here the other day which was really shocking. We have been trying to "see" an oriole around here for a few years and all we see are those really sweet ones with the white center and chocolate wafers and they come in this big blue bag that you can buy at Wal-mart.

But she swore that she DID saw an orchard oriole the other day. Any advice on how to attract them?

Well, I need to get ready for that meeting. I hate to show up without my pants and show that lady my "dimples."

Talk about having white "kuckles" she'll thump me outta that meeting room quicker than a migratory Jacque Quater'son

Going in to work here in a bit... its pouring rain here too Wren so half the neighborhood kids need me to pick them up LOL... I dont mind..... but we need to leave now and sis is still putting on her face :rolleyes: I told her not to bother with straightening her hair... i also have to call the dentist... i just busted a tooth on some caramel rice cakes... :( yesterday was the anniv of my dads death so i'll probally end up at moms again today at some point. I need to get to the hosptial and go see the girl at work who overdosed. sigh.... to many things to do and not enough hours in the day to do them...

Orioles
 

I tried and tried to get a good (good?) photo of the orioles but that's SO difficult. It means holding the camera in my right hand and the blinds in my left - I'm not good with either - and taking the photo through the screen.
Here's two copies from a bird book.

Ohhhhhhhh...I have the Northern Orioles and maybe the Baltimore...I thought the yellowish ones were the females! Thank you Wren...love the black and orange color! Hugs

Ok...I took Mr.Alffe out to lunch at KFC and we had the buffet so stayed on our diets. I also drove all the way up to Three Oaks for flat bread and they were closed! :o Can't seem to get their new schedule in my brain and about the time I do...they have regular summer hrs...those little lake villages do their lake thing!

I wonder (wrong thread) if Ms.Doody remembers when she followed me up there on her way home and it was closed then too! Honestly, they are open sometimes and have wonderful stuff.

On a really happy note...it is pouring down rain!!! Maybe my grass seed w/sprout! Itch itch itch.....:o

I also wonder why Hillary won't just get out...she fought hard and it's time to stop. :rolleyes:

well, I must have shone her my wrong dimples again cause she really shot us down again today.

The lady(our client) was really beside herself today and just said that she might just end up leaving the place to her kids when she dies...

wren, how to you make a grape jelly holder? We'd love to attract some Orchard Orioles instead of Chocolate Vanilla Oriole cookies.

Mr.Alffe made me a feeding station (well, not me but made the birds one :wink:) out of an unside down tray which he screwed onto a pole...and I just fill little chrome dishes with jelly.

Tell us what you do Wren. :grouphug:

I do just about anything for birds :p
 

For jelly feeders ........ I cut a piece of scrap board (good plywood stands up to weather best) larger than the Rubbermaid brand dish I'm sacrificing to the birds. I pencil in the size of the bottom of the dish ..... cut that out with my scroll saw. Then the dish fits in just right, won't blow away but I can get it out to clean.
Also, beside the dish, a little hole is drilled to hold a bit of dowel so yet another orange is offered.
I use those little eye hooks (right word?) in each corner to attach chains for hanging to the the bottom of the deck or the bird feeders.

I can try (yeah, sure youbetcha') again to take some photos tomorrow after the rain stops. They aren't pretty or smooth to our eyes but the birds are crazy about them.
