Sunday night again
I love my job, but it's killing me.
|
You've got a high stress job, B2Y, so it's understandable that you feel this way. Sunday nights used to be my least favorite time of the whole week.....I knew I was faced with 5 continuous days of non-stop work. And lots of stress to go with it. Are you able to at least think of slowing down or cutting back on your hours?

Oh, really, B2! We all know that it was your idea to raise the price of postage yet again. This is all so that you can retire early, isn't it?:p
Friend, B2 owns the US Postal Service. |
That means just 5 more days until Friday!!
If it were Christmas, that 5 days would pass in an instant. Why can't it do that this week??? |

I'm sending warm thoughts your way...maybe your job will start being nicer to you:circlelove: P.S. I'm glad to hear the USPS is owned by such a nice person :-) |
Oooooh, nice to know someone on the "inside." Pssst, can you get your MS buddies a nice discount on stamps and stuff? :D
|
I think I'm only a PART owner...:D
I am indeed a Postmaster (please don't say Postmistress--sounds like the Postmaster's girlfriend...) Yup, I really do love my job. I just don't love the way my body feels halfway through the day, and the way my brain feels trying to keep up. I'd probably feel better if I could just "oh well" things, but that's not me. Pssss, here's a hot tip for you: buy the Forever stamps. |
What about Postmatron? That sounds old and stuffy, though......and I know for a fact you are not.
Take it easy on yourself....don't you have some sort of FMLA or personal leave time you could possibly take in 1/2 day increments? I know...it's not that easy. Finding someone else to do your work the way YOU want it done is difficult. And sometimes not worth the frustration the next day trying to clean up what someone else has done. I'm praying for ya.............:smileypray: |
Yup, I'm approved for FMLA, and I'm taking all the leave I'm entitled to, including a day or two a month leave without pay (ouch). My doctor thinks I should be working part-time, but it ain't that kind of job. You're the Postmaster or you're not; you can't be a manager part-time. So.
15 months and 9 days. Then I can say "Yippee, I'm done!" and then sob because I miss it. I'm pathetic. |
You are NOT pathetic! You love your job - not too many people can say that!! You'll miss your coworkers but you can visit them - and they can visit you!
You've earned your time off (we all have!!). I'm learning to enjoy my stress-free time. Some days I miss having to "be" somewhere but that feeling passes quickly when I think of all the stress I've left behind!! :) |
Sometimes you want to click on the "thanks" button twice! :D
|
Hey B2~ I'll bet your'e the bestest PM, as you have to be a people person to do that job. I have been buying those Forever Stamps like crazy.
I think I have around 200 on hand already. Postage goes up on the 12th, right?? |
Correct, the 12th. You should see all the cheat sheets I have!
The best thing about my job is the customers. I definitely AM a people person, and once I retire I'll probably have to go over and just hang out in the lobby to keep up with my people! I've worked there so long that I know everybody's middle name and birthday, just about. But boy, do my legs hurt at the end of the day. Ooo-eee. |
