economy releif check

Has anyone here received there's yet? I know they were going to do it by the last 2 numbers of your ssn. Mine is 65 and I thought I should have it by now. Anyone get there;s yet?

watsonsh 05-14-2008 08:34 PM

Nope have not seen ours. :(

tovaxin_lab_rat 05-14-2008 09:52 PM

Nope and I don't have my IRS tax refund yet either. :(

Ivy2 05-14-2008 09:57 PM

I got mine direct deposited a couple days ago.

gamgam 05-16-2008 08:55 AM

According to the IRS schedule, we should have had ours by 5/9. We still so not have it. I heard on the news yesterday that many refunds were going into the wrong accounts, etc. That is scary to me. I can only imagine how long its going to take to straighten some of that mess out with it having government involvment.

Today is the last day for direct deposits listed on the IRS website. The paper checks are scheduled to start now. Who knows how and when we will get our money!!

MelodyL 05-16-2008 10:23 AM

I'm confused about this direct deposit thing. If one is on Social Security and gets direct depost, and that person files an income tax return, and gets a check back from the government via the regular mail, then how come some people are getting direct deposits of the new ecomony checks.

I mean, if you get your tax return via regular mail, wouldn't you get this new check thing, the same way?

I've never received any tax refunds via direct deposit. If I was entitled to a tax refund, it came in the regular mail.

Now I'm confused.

Ivy2 05-16-2008 03:07 PM

Melody -You had to have your regular tax refund direct deposited to receive the tax rebate that way according to the government.

Ah, thanks for the info.

Now how can a person get their income tax refund to go direct deposit?

I never even thought of this.

Thanks much.

At the end of the tax form there are routing numbers they ask you if you want to fill in - ir's an easier and faster way to get my money and I always do. If you use a tax preparer they won't do it. I don't know why.

MelodyL 05-16-2008 07:17 PM

Ivy:

I can't thank you enough.

Alan and I never even knew this.

You're a gem!!

Ivy2 05-16-2008 07:27 PM

You are very welcome!:)

brandonwall 05-16-2008 07:29 PM

I do my tax's via turbotax. It ask you how you want your refund sent. Also had a section this year for the releif check. I clicked the direct deposit form for it.

karousel 05-16-2008 10:47 PM

We received our tax return via direct deposit. We have yet to receive our stimulus check! Oh boy.

Darlene 05-17-2008 01:16 AM

We recieved this by internet today.

Dear Valued Customer,

We want to provide you with the most up–to–date information about the tax rebate to which you may be entitled.

Recently, you may have received a letter from the IRS advising you when to expect your Economic Stimulus Payment (rebate). That IRS letter may have inadvertently left off some important information. Taxpayers who chose to have their tax preparation fees deducted from their federal tax refund will receive their tax rebate in the mail, not via direct deposit.

Our records show that you chose this payment option in TurboTax. As a result, the IRS has determined that you will receive your tax rebate in the mail. This may result in you receiving your rebate on a date later than expected.

This situation, while not unique to TurboTax, is understandably causing some concern and confusion. To help further clarify the situation, below is the most current IRS rebate payment processing schedule, as well as additional resources about the tax rebates.

I hope you find this information helpful. If you still have questions, the best source for the most up-to-date information is www.irs.gov (see the "Rebate Payment Questions" link).

Sincerely,

Bob Meighan

Vice President, TurboTax Customer Advocacy

I'm an accountant in a medium-sized CPA firm and we just found out this past week some of our clients aren't getting the $300 per child as promised. The IRS is blaming in on human error and a computer glitch which is a bunch of crappola because all of our returns are efiled. The error is on their end, not yours so you might have to wait a little longer.

I got mine direct deposit on May 9th, my income tax refund was also direct deposit. What is weird, my son turned 19 this year, graduates in a week, no income tax allowance for him on our taxes even though he was a full time high school student.

kicker 05-19-2008 07:10 AM

We are not direct deposit, aur accountant CPA (my brother) filed electronically way before 14th (shoot, I had my refund before then) and DH (who was 1st named filer) is 09. I am 59, have not received anything. If IRS has made an error, isn't it intesting they don't when you owe the money. I'll believe the refund when I see it. Hope to be proven wrong.

Burntmarshmallow 05-19-2008 07:25 AM

we got our rebate last week direct deposit into bank just like our yearly tax refund. but I also heard on news that the gov made some mistakes and is sending out letters to those who are in affected by the mistake.
If they think we can stimulate the ecconmy lol..more like be able to buy some food and pay a tiny bit of credit card bill just a little bit because we need money to buy some gas :( to go to work if any left maybe be able to school shop for two kids when school starts in Aug !!!!!
Kicker hang in there  I hope yours comes soon :smileypray: !!!!!
PEACE
BMW

Yep, we got ours 2 weeks ago. We spent ours on our vacation.

brandonwall 05-20-2008 12:38 PM

Still nothing, I need mine bad. I am still off work due to my last attack.

snoozie 05-20-2008 04:51 PM

We had ours direct deposit and received it on the 9th I believe. Ours went to bills.

I aslo was shocked to find out that I did not receive a tax rebate or the write off for my daughter who is 17. We still pay for everything for her yet we didn't get the rebate check for her. Will she get one herself?

I did file for her since she did have some income. SHe already got her refund in the mail but now I wonder if she is supposed to get the rebate check herself. Leave it to the government to have a loophole....Sue

braingonebad 05-20-2008 06:55 PM

The guy who did my taxes used to work for the IRS. DH and I got our relief money direct deposit (a couple weeks ago). DD and Ds are still waiting.

I feel bad for all of you still waiting. I hope you get your money soon.
