Has anyone heard from ROXIE?

I believe it's been a while since she's posted. I truly hope and pray that she is OK.
If you are 'out there'? Could you let us know? Hugs and all - j

I've emailed Roxie. I can't get her out of my mind. I just hate it when someone "disappears" from the forum without telling us goodbye.

Hi All,
I'm still alive, just not doing so well.
I have to have bladder surgery again on the 4th of June :( I hope it ends the terrible pain I've been having. My Uro-surgeon sent me to a Gyno-uro surgeon for a 2nd opinion.......so had to have several tests at the hospital for her.
Last week my dr. told me I have Hepatitis "A" and then thought I also had Hep B. So he sent me to my Gastro dr. and he said No I just have the "A" version. Whew!
My Endocrinologist put me on Fortamet for insulin resistance and that gave me terrible acid reflux......which is a BIG no no for me since I have Barrett's Esophagus......so he just changed me over to Januvia and that seems to be better......so far. So you can see I've been so busy with dr., tests and med changes....it's driving me nuts!
Also, my husband's best friend was killed by a drunk driver 2 weekends ago.....it was awful! He was Best man at our wedding and Mike's best friend for almost 30 yrs. We are devestated about that.
I hope everyone is having a nice and restful holiday weekend. Mike and I are just staying home this weekend because I'm not feeling up to going anywhere and with the price of gasoline.....who can afford to go far! Take care all!

Roxie!!!!!!

Good to know you are still fighting your fight!
I will truly hope and even pray that your surgery is not only 'successful' but more importantly? 'Uneventful'! Both are goals to strive for!

I do hope the new meds for the IR work better...and yes you don't need the extra stressors of well... let's not go into graphic details?

As for the whole Hepatitis thing? I've gone on that merry-go-round recently with a gastro [yep, new problems, tho no pain] and HE insisted on taking a BIG bunch of blood work less than 5 days after an infusion round... He could not figure out WHY? As in the #'s were strange? Then this dear guy actually did HOMEWORK! On both IVIG and all the meds I've been on. Actually got a 'NO Wonder' things are 'off'. All in all, I'd tried to warn him? [That #'s would be funky/skewed and all...] My next 'round' of blood tests came out totally NORMAL about the Hep. My only concern is he blames it on the infusions...which I know are safer than any prescription pills I take.... I'm betting he reported the test results tho...As these things should be done. In the meantime, I don't think I'm considered to be the 'average' or 'normal' patient or client or whatever!
I truly hope that you keep them on their toes for the better for you too!

As for your and Mikes' loss of a friend? That hurts! It always does. I don't know what else to say but that. It can get better with time...but often a long time.

As for the holiday? That YOU are safe and sound, as well as Mike, and that you like me and mine, are being sane and stodgy about it all. is a good thing!

So, do please, keep in touch and let us all know how things are going? While your other issues may not relate to some, to others of us...well, these things ARE connected! Don't be a stranger, please!:hug::hug::hug:'s - j

HI J!
It's very nice to hear from you!
Yes I'm still fighting......tho there's times I'm ready to throw in the towel! I've had 5 surgeries/procedures and MANY tests since last Nov. and they have really worn me down! I keep thinking I can't do one more surgery and then BAM I have to do another :(

I don't know that I had any symptoms with the Hep A. The dr. said I had it between 2-6 weeks ago. I'm glad I didn't have B or C! I've had the 3 shots for Hep. B but didn't show the antibodies when they did the huge blood work up.

Yes, it does hurt losing such a good friend. It was such a crazy accident too. Our friend was sitting on the curb of the Art Car museum where he was the curator and this drunk came flying over railroad tracks and hit a parked car that flew almost 50 feet and landed on our friend! Intoxication Manslaughter charges were brought against the drunk.......who's only 23 yrs old! We're hoping he gets many years in prison to think about it!

I've been in miserable pain all weekend.....and worn out.....so I'm heading to bed now......Take care J! HUGS!

to get over. Rest up for your surgery.and many here will have you in there pryers, Sue

glenntaj 05-26-2008 06:37 AM

Sorry to hear about that, Roxie.

I tdoes seem that things are piling on you and yours, lately. But I'm glad you can still come here and commiserate, and hope that helps.

Somewhere in one of the Murphy's Laws books, there's this pair of statements (I forgot to whom they are attributed):

1. Things will get worse before they get better.

2. Who said things were going to get better?

Not exactly an endorsement of light, but hopefully the humor helps in the face of the grim.

Feel better soon.

daniella 05-26-2008 06:59 AM

Roxie as you know I think you are such a fighter along with many others here. I know in my heart you will get relief soon and one of these surgeries has to pay off. You are a role model to me to keep fighting and I thank you for your friendship

Roxie - sorry you are continuing to fight all this - does the IVIG help any of this at all????? Seems just when you get back up - they tip you over again - grrrr.

Glenn - your post gave me a smile - thanks:)

dahlek 06-01-2008 06:21 PM

Roxie? Are you OK?

Not hearing from you IS worrisome... I realize you are going thru a lot, but let us know how things are going...

Also, as Kmeb asked...are you still on the ivig? Is it helping any?

daniella 06-01-2008 07:59 PM

Has she posted or emailed to let us know the outcome of her latest surgery Daniella?

Cathie

daniella 06-14-2008 10:45 AM

I got an email from her yesterday. She is hanging in there. The surgery is done and she is healing now. I am not sure if she will know for awhile if it helped. This may not be correct though. Her husband sounds very helpful so that is good. I will give her all your thoughts
