Smart Lids - New Product!!!

Hi. I just saw this on tv, and I went on the net and got the website. It's sold on ebay also. I'm waiting until it comes to my local CVS.

Check this out and tell me what you think. If these things do what they say, it's better than Saran Wrap, Reynolds Wrap and ANY kind of wrap.

those look very cool.

MelodyL 05-26-2008 09:24 PM

Don't they?? It blew me away when Chef Tony puts his hand in and the whole thing was sealed.

And you can put this in the fridge, in the freezer, etc.

Can you imagine me getting these and making my own informercial?

You'll all get hysterical!!!!

lol

Heads up! Before you buy it to try it, google "smart lidz review" and take a look at the comments from very angry customers. The key element in many of the complaints is the S&H costs. Almost double the actual price!

Buyer beware, the product itself is very disappointing to most reviewers. They're supposed to be available at Walgreen's and a few other retailers soon, it might be worth waiting if only to stay off of the inevitable five dozen mailing lists to which your name will be "shared".

They look like a giant diaphram you stick on your cookware. Looks like they could work as long as they don't pop or bend out of shape.

MelodyL 05-27-2008 08:09 AM

Giant Diaphram?? I've never seen one up close.

I'm hysterical.!!!!

MelodyL 05-27-2008 08:12 AM

I googled SMART LIDS REVIEWS.

Holy Moly!!!

People were charged a $51.00 shipping and handling fee?? And they can't even contact the company.

Off with their heads.

I'm waiting till they come to my local CVS.

braingonebad 05-27-2008 03:53 PM

Magic lids - same thing, different name - are available from QVC and the shipping is under $6. They cost about $16 for a set - I think of 4.

I've bought stuff from them and never had a problem.

braingonebad 05-27-2008 03:57 PM

Okay, can't get that link to work.

The item was K2959 if you want to know.

MelodyL 05-27-2008 04:43 PM

Hi. Your link worked fine for me.

I found the magic lids. But they don't appear to be the same kind of item. Your magic lids just fit snugly and two of them are domed. And they fit securly and make a tight seal when you place the lid on the bowl.

The Smart Lids. (well, you clicked on THAT one right?). He pushes his hand inside the bowl, and it forms a seal right around the food.

With the Magic Lids, it doesn't say that this is how you do it. There really is no description. I have to call and ask them.

I can't wait until I find the smart lids in my local As Seen On Tv Item in my CVS.

As a matter of fact, they are building a brand new Walgreens a few blocks from my house. You KNOW THEY'RE GONNA HAVE THOSE INFOMERCIAL PRODUCTS there.

I'll be in Infomercial HEAVEN!!!!! LOL

You're right. Okay, try this one. Keepeez 6 pc, $32 and change.

Seems expensive to me, but what do I know? I don't know how much they're asking for Chef Tony's set.

I do know at the Q, you get a 30 day return.

:)

MelodyL 05-27-2008 07:18 PM

Chef Tony's is ten bucks but they kill you with the shipping and handling. And hidden stuff.
I'm going to check on your link.

THAT'S IT!!!! SAME THING. TWICE THE PRICE!!!

I'm waiting till they arrive at my local place that sells all the infomercial stuff.

These lids will be the BOMB.

I'll make my own video, and you can view it on youtube.

I REALLY WANT THESE LIDS. lol

Go back to my link and check the customer reviews first. At least see what other people thought of them before ya buy - I always do.

They didn't get a 5 star, you know.

I'd wanna know why.

And you have a point - I always see stuff at the drug store *As seen on TV* a few weeks later, sometimes a better price, at least you don't get ripped off for shipping, plus you see it in person and can tell if it's garbage or not.

A lot of times on QVC though, the do specials where you get extra for the same price, so you might want to keep your eye on that too. Me, I like not having to drive for it - what with the price of gas, delivery is cheaper.

I look forward to your video. You should get paid for those. ;)

QVC is the way to go if they have the same thing you see on an infomercial. At QVC you can return it up to 30 days later - no questions asked. I buy a lot of items from QVC because of that guarantee and their customer service is by far the best I've ever experienced.

MelodyL 05-28-2008 12:27 PM

You're absolutely correct!!!

I checked on the reviews for the Keepeez, (WHICH IS EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE SMART LIDS). Same principal (they even look exactly the same). You place the ring on top, you push down, and it seals everything hermetically.

OR NOT..... if you read the views that people wrote.

Here's what they said: See, I wanted to copy and paste the reviews so if anybody bought these Smart Lids thingees, and they break or don't work, then no one can bop me over my head.

You have been duly warned.

NO ONE SEEMS TO LIKE THIS PRODUCT!!!

Here are the reviews so far. Whe they say 1 out of 5, they mean Stars!!!

"I agree with most of the other reviews. Seemed to work at first, now don't seem to work at all and I haven't had them that long. Need to see if I'm still able to return them. I'll stick with Saran Wrap."

Doesn't seal long

"Tried several sizes and a few minutes after you put it into the fridge.... it "unseals". All you have is a plastic disc sitting on the top. They are so lightweight, they fall off when you open the door.
Good idea, bad product."

"The worst product I’ve ever purchased from QVC. Lids did not seal anything. I wish I returned them so I would get the refund. DO NOT BUY IT."

"I unfortunately bought two sets of these. One as a gift. They seem to work at first, then after 20 mins in the fridge they come unsealed. I also tried one of the smaller lids and the seal actually broke...and no, I do not wear my nails long. Sorry QVC, I really do like the majority of your products."

braingonebad 05-28-2008 02:08 PM

Bummer! I was watching the demo wondering about how food temps would affect their performance. Maybe that plays some part in their unsealing when they put them in the fridge.

Too bad too, cuz I just hate saran wrap.

:p

I use those things that look like shower caps but go over bowls. Not a great seal, and you can't do anything with em but cover stuff for the fridge, but that part it works ell for.

The hunt for perfect storage continues, lol.

MelodyL 05-28-2008 04:54 PM

I used to use those little shower cap thingees over the bowls. Much easier than saran wrap or clink wrap.

They don't sell those in my local stores any more.

So I guess it's back to the cling wrap and reynolds.

But really, didn't it look just awesome when Chef Tony puts his hands in and it made that seal.

Could have fooled me!!!!

lor 05-28-2008 07:55 PM

Yeah braingonebad, Hot food would cause a suction then when it cools down the suction is broken.

MelodyL 05-28-2008 09:04 PM

Well, then if hot foods cause a suction, why not wait until the foods are at room temp before putting the lids on.

Think that might work??

adof 11-20-2008 10:12 AM

smart lids are not smart

I have got smart lids and I am so dissapointed. The seal last just for 10-15 minutes. They are not good at all.
