Friday - May 30 - Weekend Check-in...
Just wondering what everyone is up to this weekend???
I'm trying to figure out which way to go.... My parents just went to pick out a new bathroom.... Yep, they've decided to rip out the 48yr old bathroom and install all new and shiney. Don't get me wrong.... it's needed redone for about 25yrs. I just don't think I will be able to handle the commotion and noise. I hope everyone here has a wonderful weekend.!!! If you all don't hear from me.... that means I found somewhere to go. Abbie |
Psychologist today (leaving for that, soon), boyfriend this weekend :D and then dentist and psychiatrist on Monday...busy busy busy!
Earplugs, Abbie! Cheap investment. Have a good weekend, everyone! |
I forgot to say... the bathroom that is being torn out as I type.... is the only one in the house:eek:.
I can't even leave... All of the old and new stuff is sitting behind my car! Hopefully they will figure out to move the stuff to the garage before the storms cross my neck of the woods....:grouphug::hug: Abbie |
We did some inkblot testing today. The questionnaire, he says, was inconclusive due to the level of anxiety I was experiencing that day. We'll see. Poor Abbie :(

Hi, Folks,
I feel like crap. I saw the tdoc. I am overwhelmed and can't manage very well. I try to reduce stimuli by doing at little as possible -- this is not working and I need a new plan. Tdoc wants hubby to come in to the appointment next week. She thinks it will be helpful to remind him, as we did a year ago, that I need a little help managing. He can help first by letting me hire someone to help sort my stuff and clean up. We'll see. He's acting hyper right now. He just told me that he will clean the whole apt. I'm going to hold him to that this weekend. When I came home, I found that he got a new cell phone for me. Never mind that I don't want to deal with any new features. My old phone and access to the my phone numbers is turned off. Mari |
Man Mari, thats the kind of thing my hubby would do too.
They just don't think about others at times. I've just returned from a couple of days with my co-workers. Got lost whats new. Can't seem to ever find the places anymore. Donna |
the sims card should have all of your old phone numbers stored on it...so that way you should be able to have all of your stuff that you had stored.
I am sorry that you are having a hard time right now. I think that it would be good to have hubby come with you again. ((((HUGS)))) bizi we are going to see sex and the city tomorrow night! should be fun....:D |
Hubby got my phone numbers transferred to the new phone yesterday.
Right now he is taking me to a new Chinese buffet even though I hate Chinese food and hate buffets worse. But he promised to organize the clutter shoved in the kitchen cabinets and taking up all the counter space when we get back. Yesterday he cleaned up my junk on the living room floor for me and vacuumed the apt -- the living room looks beautiful. He is in one of his high energy moods so I need to ride the mood. M. |
*Sigh* Things are not so happy here, Jackie is acting up a lot again and we're looking at summer here and NO tricycle yet. I am just beside myself with worry about how bad this summer will be. I should be content but I just feel anxious. We have a family member who is in the hospital, ICU still, and it's all I can think about beyond the upcoming summer. :(
So we did crabs yesterday and I can't say I really enjoyed it much because I was thinking about this sick, possibly dying family member. It's not mom, thank god, but it makes me think about losing her and how hard it will be. I feel so helpless...anyway that's where I've been, sick with worry over this person I care about being in the hospital. :( |
Pam
Sending you hugs and hoping things slow down for you. I would venture to guess that Jackie is also picking up on some of the vibes that you are anxious about your family member and isn't exactly sure why. And this is upsetting him too. Donna |
I am sorry for your ill family member Pamster.
jsut wanted to offer a hug today. ((((HUG)))) bizi |
I'm glad the weekend's over... but we still don't have a bathroom.:( let me clarify... the only thing in the bathroom is a working toilet.
Everything is "supposed" to be done by tomorrow night... Hugs to all.... Prayers too...:smileypray: Abbie |
oh abbie, I hope it all goes well and that you have your bathroom back!!!!!

day camp? an aide to come to the house?
Dear Pam,
You are resourceful and prob already checked out this stuff. But just in case, I wanted to mention this to you. Can Jackie participate in a day camp or summer camp-type place? Get a hold of a social worker and pick her brains. You can ask her to research places near you so that Jackie can have some structure. Even if it is only like a 2 week program in the middle of July, he (and you) would benefit. Ask the social worker to help you look into anything run by The Jewish Community Center, Catholic Charities, and so on. Also check with the Autism Society (or whatever it might be called in your area). Does the state of Florida offer anything for him in the summer? Swim camp? Basketball for half a day? Can you get someone to come to the house and help you out? You had that for a while, if I remember right. I'm sorry that you are dealing with the worry of family members being sick. Try not to let the worry eat you up. Also know that your mother is relatively young and strong and healthy. You had crab day? ? ! :) You guys know how to have fun. Maybe at least Jack and Jackie enjoyed it. Take care, Pam. I hope your week gets better. M. |
Thanks bizi I appreciate the hug and the concern. :) I know the family member's time could be up because he is almost 80, but still it's hard to lose a grandparent. But no matter what we'll get through it. :)
Thanks Donna, it's probably true he's picking up the my emotional state and it's making him anxious too. Thanks for posting. :) Good idea Mari, I will call the worker today and see not only if the trike got approved, because that would really go a long way in making things better I think over the course of the summer, and to see if she knows of any camps or something where he could go for the time that summer school is out. Jack is really stepped up to the plate and together we're doing our best, for the moment he doesn't want an aide however that may change as summer gets going. Thanks so much for caring. :) I doubt the week gets much better because I am facing a tooth extraction tomorrow and that is on my mind, the soup diet will get probably five to ten pounds off me I'm sure, but after it heals I will have a much harder time eating and that bothers me. We have a free dental clinc here once a year and we got our referals, but I need to get our appointments scheduled. It's going to be rough, but I am going to ask the dentist tomorrow if he thinks it's possible just to do a repair on it and if so I will BEG them to help me get just a year or two OUT of this poor tooth that lost a corner about three weeks ago. :( So lots going on this week, hopefully Jackie's social worker will have some answers for me about the trike and the possibility of summer camp. Last I heard there is one in Tampa but that's over two hours away and I don't think we could swing the gas you know? :p And I doubt they have a bus that would drive that far for one child. So if that's the only camp available with the resources to care for an autistic child then we're out of luck. We went to a pool yesterday, a big public one, and there had to be about 30 people there, I was too embarrassed to get out of the car so we didn't even park, just turned around and went to get a pizza. :) So glad Jack understood it was beyond my comfort zone, they were outside waiting for it to open as we got there right before it was about to open and it was instant panic. :p Hope all is well with you both. I'll post more after I have more news to share. :) |
Pam
Also is there any chance the school would loan you a trike for the summer if his hasn't got a chance of coming soon. Also if the camp is to far away. I would bet there are other autistic kids in the area thats parents are having the same problems you are. But they don't know how to go about finding the resources to ask about the camp. I would suggest that the worker, check with the school, and see if they have any other autistic kids going to a camp this summer. Maybe their is a way to share rides or set up a bus. Also in our area there is a transportation program were you could use the special transportation for disabled and elderly, for health and shopping I bet that would work for camp too. It would just be one way there and then back to get him. You could ride along to take him, and they could bring you or Jack back home. Or try for Gas vouchers. Donna |
I did speak to the worker today and she's looking into camp for him, but the district still has a moritorium on the state for approving things, only emergencies qualify and this in their eyes is no emergency. :p

I hope that the social worker can come through with something for you. Any bible camps? Swim classes? Mari |
SO far she hasn't called back or emailed me to let me know of anything so I guess she didn't find anything. Oh well, we'll get through it somehow, it won't be easy, but there is good news, I saved a bunch of money on my car insurance by switching to Geico! LOL!!! Seriously, I did, but that was months ago, the real good news is that I didn't have to have another molar yanked yesterday, the dentist said it can be repaired so I am going to this free dental clinic that comes once a year here and hoping they will take pity on me and fix it, no root canal required. :D
Now if only they will start approving requests again and we can get that trike for Jackie we'll be set! :D She had no news for me though, so nothing good there yet. :p I have to go shopping today and my back is aching pretty bad on one side, I hate shopping most days anyway, but this bites. Oh well, nothing can be done but live with it. I am just ecstatic I didn't lose a molar yesterday. :D |
this is great news pamster!!!!!
I would call the lady about the camps....jsut to bring it to forefront again.... sorry that your back is acting up, hope pain pills help. bizi |
Dear Pam,
I'm ecstatic about the news from the dental visit too. :) :) :) M. |
Pam
I would also do a search in your state for agencies that help with a order from a therapist or doctor. For purchases like this. Indiana has one. They purchase equipment, bicycles, mini tramplines just about anything that a family might need that would not be a thing on a medical list or medicaid. Or even like in your case were there is a stopping to buy these things. Also Indiana has a lending toy library, and sometimes you can find wheelchairs, and things in another place, I'm sorry I can't remember the name off the top of my head that are medical equipment that you borrow till they outgrow it. So maybe do some searching and even maybe like post of freerecycle and see if some one has a adaptive tricycle. Its not exactly something that they would list, becaue they would want it to go to a child like Jackie. Donna |
