Wow, what last 2+ weeks
Some of you followed my thread on my granddaughter, Joslyn, her surgery and slow recovery.
I am happy to announce that she is peeing on her own since Tuesday evening and is being treated for UTI so we are 99% sure she is back to normal except for the spoiling we did for the last 2 1/2 weeks, now we have to gradually get back to "normal" behavior for a 2 1/2 year old who definitely has a mind of her own. As I was leaving her house on Wednesday I got a call that my mother was being taken by ambulance to the hospital, possible heart attack. After waiting two days for a heart cath she had one today. No heart attack, no stent and no open heart surgery. Every one of her arteries are diseased but with only 20-30% blockage and they only do stents or surgery if 70+%. She has COPD, diabetes, smokes and overweight. She is 76 and doctor said to just let her live her life as she wishes, no one is going to change her and she might as well be happy with the time she has left, which according to him could end tomorrow or she could have many more years. That's life for all of us too. We also got the news that my SIL is in hospital because of trouble walking and MRI showed 2 masses between her shoulder blades and also lesions in her upper spine. They are suggesting cancer, MS or both. They will do surgery to remove the masses tomorrow so we will know more after that. And then in the scheme of things my dryer went kaput today. Husband looked it over, couldn't be fixed, out to the curb, someone picked it up probably for scrap. LOL, but husband and I forgot to take clothes out of there, thankfully there wasn't much in there. That was just a bump in the road, my SIL is now my main concern. Please keep her in your prayers. |
 Dangit Brenda :(
I am sorry about your mother and SIL. I will keep both in my prayers. Great news about Joslyn :yahoo: |
Sassy,
I am sorry to hear about all the stuff you're going through right now. Your SIL is in my thoughts and prayers. I am terrified to know what my mom's lungs and heart must look like. She is turning 60 on 6/1..and she has been smoking since she was 9. But.. my mom is portuguese and stubborn and she's going to do what she wants.. gosh, I'm just like her :) Aww.. I'm happy your granddaughter is almost back to normal and being properly spoiled! I know I'm going to spoil all/any grandbabies I have.. but since my oldest is only 9, I have some time before that! You've been through a lot and I hope things turns around for your family and they are all healthy and safe very soon! Monique |
Wow, Sassy, when it rains it pours. :( But I'm glad there were some positives in the mix - little Joslyn is getting better. So happy about that!
Your SIL and your Mom are both in my prayers. Keep us posted on how everyone is doing.....including you. :) |
that's worrisome news sassy.
i'll be sending thoughts and prayers to your whole family. God bless. |
Glad to hear that Josyln is doing well!
Your Mom sounds just like mine!!! Same stuff going on. My mom just turned 91 last week and the doc is saying the same thing, could be tomorrow, could be 2 months. She's having a lot of problems breathing right now. Praying for your SIL. Sassy.... |
Sassy, your life sounds so darned stressful right now!
I'm praying for all your family, but most of all, I am praying for some peace in your life, for you. |
Yay Joslyn!!!!!!:):D
Wishing continued good health to your precious grandbaby Sassy. Yay, I love goooood news. |
So glad to hear Joslyn is doing so well minus the UTI!
Prayers going up for mom and sis. |

I just can't understand all this!!
Haven't received any update on my SIL, I hope to soon. But...last night was bringing Joslyn home for the night after she was flower girl at a wedding and my car broke down on a freeway exit. TG for cell phones, husband rescued us and car still sits there waiting for wrecker tomorrow to pick it up and access the problem. $$$ Then, this morning, my husband and I took Joslyn back to her mom and our brake line on the truck developed a leak. He was able to push the pedal down so it worked good enough until we got home. I don't think I would have had the strength to do that. $$$ Someone want to lend me some money? And some better luck?? On a happier note, here's a pic of Joslyn right after she stole the bridesmaid's bouquet and handed the bridesmaid her basket and told her that was hers. Don't be taken in by the sweet innocent look of this 2 yr old. LOL |
OK, truck is fixed, car is in shop.
Called my niece to check on my SIL. She has surgery tonight for disc in her neck which is pressing on spine and home tomorrow if all goes well. They have her scheduled for LP after that to check for MS or cancer on spine and brain. Her daughter says she has lesions on brain and "mass" on or near spine so guess it is a wait and see thing for a few more days. While talking to my niece found out her son has been found to be allergic to peanuts. :( and also has to have a sleep study done for sleep apnea, he is 6 years old. He has asthma, snores and has night terrors. He has had surgery on sinuses and is now on meds for CF (doesn't have CF) to keep the mucous at a tolerable level. Her daughter is having her tonsils and adnoids out on Monday because of strep infections. So, the downpour continues. There is more but I won't go into it all. Please keep my family in your prayers. PS: I just want to thank certain someone who sent me PM. You find out true friends when in need. And BTW, I was only kidding about needing money, we're OK. But extra luck wouldn't hurt. |
Sheesh, Bren, you sure are on a bumpy road right now.:(
I'm sure that I speak for many when I say that we are ever vigilant in our prayers for you and yours. Hang on, there's a light out there somewhere.:grouphug: |
Well Brenda~~ Your'e platter is full. You have long ago filled that darn plate!!! I am glad to hear lil Jos is doing better and the pic is adorable.
So sorry for all the health issues going on in your family. Will keep your SIL and Mother in my prayers. Most of all, I will keep you in them, Brenda! You have just had so much to deal with; take care of you, too! |
Knock it off Brenda!!! What the heck!!!!! Man, I thought I had too much on my plate. Geeeesh!!! Do ya need anything. You know where I'm at!
You better take care of you! http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/e...h/thoughts.jpg |
Thanks all!! SIL is doing better from surgery on her neck but still awaiting the LP to dx the lesions and masses.
I spent most of the day in bed or on the couch yesterday--I guess the stress caught up with me. And the HEAT! I didn't realize how hot it was in my stupor. Husband couldn't believe I didn't have air on. We had Joslyn overnight while Daddy worked. Its a good thing she's easily entertained. You would never know she'd been through the mill except for the meds and tiny incision scars. Its good to see her doing so well. She did mention her pee bag last night so she remembers more than we think. I hope all is well with others around here. I hope to get on here more often and just visit, not just share our woes but I'm thankful for all of you here and helping me through such trying times. |
