Koala77 06-05-2008 10:31 PM

You know as well as I do that a title like that is the quickest way to get some-one to read what you've posted!

I did however, want to thank you Moi for that beautiful story. Me thinks there's a bit of Punchinello in each and everyone of us, and we all just have to find the strength to do what he did.

Thank you again Moi, and if my answer is a bit cryptic to others, it's because I want every-one else to hear what Puncinello had to say for themselves..

ahhhh...you naughty people(s)....

LOL

I really didn't think much of myself most of my life...I was severly teased as a child, severely teased as an adult, severely teased recently...

Actually, I try to NOT go out too much to avoid the stares...but it happens...

what's different these days is that I know that there are people that care about me. They see "beyond"...

but it took a long time to get to this place...I really have my wife to thank for, first and foremost (thank you, wifey. Smooches)

and then I want to thank to all those that have been my friends all these years...been to the SOS forum for almost 9 years now...and even when Alpho and doody met me in person, they remained my friends...LMAO...

I try to NOT let being teased getting to me these days, I can't say that it doesn't bother me to some degree, but that's OK. I no longer have a stigma....

Everyday, I go to bed thinking, how lucky can a guy get, wonderful wife, wonderful friends, wonderful family...

I see those that are not able to walk (which happend to me when I was 14), I see those that are not able to see, and I think to myself, I am just so lucky...

but I need all the trials to get to this place, to appreciate...

koala's right, there is a punchinello in all of us...and those of us that can learn that we are special onto ourselves...well, I think that's how life can really begin??

:grouphug: to all

Alffe 06-10-2008 05:50 AM

Well I think you're charming with all your quirks...*grin...it's just those funny ears that I worry about.

Over 40 years ago I worked for a company that had a man from Scotland working there. He was a Mactavish, or a MacLoughlin, or a MacGregor (he was a MAC something, lol).

Anyway, there I was about 18 or so and I got in the elevator and this guy comes in. I wish I had a camera. He said "I wish you could see the expression on your face". I didn't know to laugh, to smile, WHAT to do??

I just said "What are you?" He laughed his head off and said "I'm from the clan , Mac, something or other"

I just stared at him. He had a skirt on. Or what I thought was a skirt. I later found out it was a kilt. I went to my floor and said to one of my co-workers. "that guy is wearing a skirt??" She laughed her head off and she said to everybody "Hey, Melody met the Scot"

I will never forget what he wore. And he had a dagger in his calf (at least I think it was on his calf) Some kind of holder. But he had a knife, that much I know for sure.

And this thing that hung from the front of his kilt. It would flop every time he marched somewhere. And he marched. He didn't walk. He marched.

And he sounded like Sean Connery.

I often would say to myself "Why is this man wearing those clothes?, this is not a Scottish company, It was an Indian company, actually.

But every day he came to work wearing the kilt. And I never knew if he had more than one, or he wore he same one, WHO KNEW!!!

lol

Really? You would have had the gumption to walk up to him and ask "Exactly how many of these kilt outfits do you own?

Oh I found out that the dagger is called a DIRK.

And he wore these long long white socks and the dagger was around the top of the sock (which are called hose).

See, I'm now learning about kilts and dirks!!

lol

Oh, here's a funny story about a scottish lady I knew once. Her name was Mary, she was about 60 and I loved her. I was abou 20.

She worked in my department and one day she was enthralling us with stories about her first visit to our country before she moved here.

It seemed she stayed in nice hotel and each night she would approach the desk clerk and told him to "PLEASE KNOCK ME UP IN THE MORNING."

She said the guy would look at her and say "I beg your pardon".

Well, we laughed our heads off. She finally found out that in OUR country, PLEASE KNOCK ME UP IN THE MORNING, means something COMPLETELY DIFFERENT than it means in Scotland.

lol lol lol
