Hey, I don't live in Kansas!

We've got an actual tornado watch here in Vermont this afternoon. Do WHAT? I just called my granddaughter (18) who is planning to go for a swim with a friend. "Don't worry, Grammy". Yeah, right. STAY HOME!!!! I could feel her rolling her eyes over the phone, but I hope she remembers the stuff I told her if it should come to that. I know the likelihood is small up here, but....

Weird weather is everywhere this year it seems. We're finally getting a break from the heatwave we've been experiencing. We actually have a chance of rain and highs only in the 80's for the rest of the week!!

I hope the storm passes without any damage to your area, B2Y. It just seems like there are more and more storms each year. I know the people in Chicago probably feel this way!!

I did not know that we might get such severe weather around here today! I will be watching the forecast!

Sox, must have been strange to witness a tornado. Like B2Y said, we don't usually experience that kind of weather around here.

Stay safe EVERYONE!

yeahbut 06-10-2008 07:54 PM

How is everyone tonight? We had some bad storms here in Maine but they are all North of us. Safe here!

karousel 06-10-2008 07:58 PM

We had a storm warning issued but all the bad storms hit South of us. We got two very small thunderstorms but they keep threatening severe storms. Of course, compared to the storms you guys get - you know with tornados and such - we get nothing. I hope everyone stays safe.

I hope everyone in New England and upstate N.Y. made it through the bad weather ok!

We didn't get anything, but then, even if we did, I would have slept through the whole thing anyway!! :p

It was hot and muggy when I went to bed today, and when I got up it was cool and misty, but dry. I bet the temp dropped thirty degrees in less than 8 hours!

( I'm missing a LOT here lately, trying to adjust my sleep schedule...grrrr...I hate the change to DST and the change back every year, It takes me WEEKS to adjust!!!)

We dodged the bullet again! Lots of crashing and booming and blowing, but the power only flickered once and came back on. The "left coast" of the state, over by Lake Champlain (Burlington area) got hammered. The news showed a lot of trees down, and there were many without power.

Some places reported 80 mph winds!

Girlie Girl 06-11-2008 06:38 AM

We had lots of wind, heat lightning and thunder. I guess my county was hit the worst, at least that is what the news is saying this morning. We lost some branches but no trees, thankfully. The power flickered a bit but never went totally out. So I guess we were pretty lucky. There is still about 20,000 people without power.

I'm glad B2Y you made it through ok. I was thinking of you last night.

River, it must be hard adjusting to the new sleep schedule. I can just imagine you sleeping through the storm :p

I just can't believe the weather that this whole country is getting, from heat, tornados and to top it all off SNOW!!! What is happening?!?!

soxmom 06-11-2008 08:10 AM

We did allright, although my pup was curled next to me
shaking thru the storms:( Some schools are cancelled
due to power outages so some towns around us did get
hit. Im glad everyone is okay.

Girlie Girl 06-11-2008 09:27 AM

Poor puppy :( My pup slept through the whole thing....I guess storms don't bother him.

Dejibo 06-11-2008 12:52 PM

WOW, what a show. about 11 last night the skies lit up, and all hell broke loose around here. I stuck my face to the window to check it out, and BLAMO! I saw lightening streak across the sky and strike in the swamplands about a mile from here. HOLY CRAP, made my hair all prickly and I almost wet myself.

We hid in the house, and hunkered down in bed. The cats were all freaked out, and so was I. It passed in about 2 hours, and this morning showed tons of branches down, and ruts in the driveways and so forth from the massive rains. No real damage.

the pollen here has been amazing! you can look up and see clouds of it drifting off the pine trees. A yellow haze coats everything.
