What's for Supper?

I am having home made Pasta sauce with home made meatballs, salad and a glass of Cranberry Wine made right here in Winterport, Maine. Yum, Yum! If I wasn't so tired I would make some home made garlic bread to go with it but not tonight!

What is everyone else having?

AfterMyNap 06-15-2008 04:41 PM

Beef medallions in balsamic glaze, plopped on fettuccine tossed with spinach and gorgonzola-alfredo sauce. Salad, red wine, and for desert, animal crackers.

Yum.

It's actually pretty easy, Yabbit, here, I'll put it differently:
grilled meat on pasta.

There ya' go! Now your dinner sounds better, huh?!?!

It's father's day, what can I tell you? My father's stomach lives here.

yeahbut 06-15-2008 04:52 PM

That's right - I brought my daddy Lobster and Clam yesterday so he could have that for dinner today.

no AMN the way you said it sounds really good. You and Pop have a wonderful dinner

Kitty 06-15-2008 04:53 PM

I'll probably have a PB&J and a coke. I know.....not good choices but it's easy and I don't feel like cooking.

Guess I could have had a bowl of Cocoa Crispies. Maybe I'll have that for dessert!!

yeahbut 06-15-2008 04:55 PM

Kelly nothing wrong with PB & J and sure can't go wrong with Chocolate for dessert

LOL, I just imitated the recipe.

We can't get decent seafood here unless we go out of town and that ain't gonna happen. I'm hoping to put away some serious shellfish some time in the foreseeable future.;)

yeahbut 06-15-2008 04:58 PM

right off the dock - nothing but the best for my Daddy!

$4.50 a lb off the boat - I paid a little more cause I am not special at the boat either.

That's cheap!

When I was down on the bayou we actually got 5-gallon paint buckets filled with still-blinking shrimp for $8. PARTAAAAAYY!

yeahbut 06-15-2008 05:04 PM

they are cheap but you got to know someone to get them off the boat! ;)

$9 a lb at the grocery store. My daddy loves his steamers.... he could care less about the lobster but I got them one anyway!

DM 06-15-2008 05:05 PM

Sorry B2, but wer'e having chicken, baked potatoes, salad and for desert~~~ DH had a giant choccy chip cookie made and decorated for my birthday, so~~~ yum!! *It's already about GONE*

tovaxin_lab_rat 06-15-2008 05:11 PM

We're having Kokanee and salad.

And just in case you are wondering what the heck is a Kokanee

http://www.kingcounty.gov/environmen...n/kokanee.aspx

the short version..it's a landlocked form of salmon. fresh water fish. pink meat and very good. I can eat it...for some reason I am not allergic to it like I am salmon...go figure.

Blessings2You 06-15-2008 05:12 PM

Well, for lunch we had those giant English muffin (grillers) sandwiches, toasted, with real butter, fresh fried eggs (not even hours from the chicken), shredded Vermont cheddar cheese, and crispy bacon. So there.

SallyC 06-15-2008 05:44 PM

*Smacking everyone on the forehead*

You could have had a "Lean Cousine", baked chicken, dressing and whipped potatoes w/ savory gravy, like me. I even slapped on a few asparagus spears for good measure..Yummmmmm..:p

karousel 06-15-2008 06:14 PM

Per my husband's request I made beef stew. Since it's father's day I thought I'd be nice. Mmmmm it was very good!

Kitty 06-15-2008 06:27 PM

This Friday I'm cooking fried catfish. My boys love it and that's Matt's off day so he'll be here for dinner (and they requested it).

I usually have baked potatoes and chopped salad with it. Strawberry shortcake for dessert.

We used to have fried catfish all the time. My DH would fix it and it'd be SO good. I cannot figure out what he did differently 'cause I use the same ingredients and method he did. Maybe it was just because it was him that fixed it for us. That made it better.....just missin' him.....:(

I LOVE steamers!:) There was a place in NYC that had them really cheap when I was in school, and we were there at least weekly for a fix. I haven't been able to find them like they were in NYC ever since.

We just had artichoke hearts, and filets for dinner, and I'm sitting here polishing off a bottle of Chardonnay. We haven't thought about dessert yet. Maybe later, but I'm enjoying this wine.;)

Aw, Kell, he probably added a dash of his own TLC.

On the upside, it will be a great opportunity for you to get the boys to help get your senior pic up on the board!:D

Have you looked at my album in my profile? The only pic I could find that was already on a disc was one after I graduated - I was 19 and it was about a year before I got married!! I look so innocent......:p

I marinaded brats in a beer sauce and made potato salad yesterday. Our boys came for supper and cooked the brats on the grill and we had a nice Father's Day visit. They gave DH a gift card for Menard's. :D He's going to have fun with that! It was nice out too! :)

My boys love brats but I am having the hardest time trying to find those yummy poppy seed hot dog buns - they love those things but they are impossible to find!! Anyone know where they can be found in Georgia? Do I have to go to Chicago to get them?? :p

My mind went into overdrive when I read that Wiz!

Where I come from a brat is a naughty child, and I've never heard of an edble variety before!

Kitty 06-16-2008 04:35 AM

LOL, Koala!! I never thought about that!! It is spelled that way - guess we should just spell the entire word out, huh?! :D Wouldn't want people to think we ate our disruptive children!! Even on a poppy seed bun that wouldn't be very nice!! :p

Oops, sorry!! :o Yabbit is right....it's a sausage called bratwusrt. Pronounced brot-worst. For short they're called "brats". I can see how that would be confusing to someone who's never heard of them!!

http://www.bavariabratwurst.com/

They're very good - especially on the grill.

soxmom 06-16-2008 07:07 AM

Kevin's going out of town for four days starting tomorrow so I thought I'd fix something special for dinner tonight. Anyone got any ideas?

My first thought was to fix the standard "favorite meal". Macaroni and cheese (homemade of course), green beans, fried chicken, deviled eggs and corn on the cob.

After thinking of all that....ordering Chinese takeout sounded good too!!! :o
