Glad everyone liked their little glimpse of Tasmania....... which is the heart shaped island at the bottom of the map of Australia.

I have extra cards if anyone else would like one.

Cheryl....where is your mind tonight?:eek::eek:

A pasty (Cornish: Pasti, Tiddy Oggy, pronounced /ˈpæsti/ (the 'a' pronounced as in 'cat'), or less commonly pastie) is a type of pie, commonly associated with Cornwall, United Kingdom. It is a baked savoury pastry case traditionally filled with diced meat, sliced potato and onion.[1] Pasties with traditional ingredients are specifically named Cornish pasties. Pasties generally have a semicircular shape, achieved by folding a circular pastry sheet over the filling.

And Alffe did say she went to Patsy's.

Anyone else confused :confused::confused:

What makes you think I am confused?

They would be awful gooey if you got one in the mail! LOL!!

Koala77 06-16-2008 10:10 PM

Thanx Shelley. I do love a real Cornish pasty and DH happens to make them to the old fashioned recipe! Yummo!

The bakeries here in my home state make the real ones too, but when we've tried them in other states, the bakers just could not seem to get them right.

It's winter here in Oz and it's the time we cook our home made pies, pasties, savoury rolls, sausage rolls, soups and stews. M mmm! :)

who moi 06-17-2008 03:52 AM

not that I know, but I had thought pasties were those things that go over the ummm...you know, things on women's ummmm...you know...round chest thingys??

Like they do in Burlesque Shows?? Not that I've SEEN any...really. I have NO idea what I am talking about...

I thought we were talking about pizza?

da duck 06-17-2008 06:44 AM

he blames me but honestly, he does this stuff to himself. I only sort of....make suggestions.
I have had pasties and they are great. I dunno about traditional Cornish pasties...I think the only Cornish things we have in KY are game hens and I tend to doubt their veracity....but the ones I had were made Michigan style and they were really good.
Now, why were we talking about pasties again? And what can I think of to cause pondering in Ed's dark hours again? :D

Burntmarshmallow 06-17-2008 07:26 AM

I never heard a meat pie called a pastie and really when I hear of meat pies (a.k.a. pasties??lol) I think of Sweeny Todd the movie with Johny Depp, which is a awesome movie b.t.w. and ha ha there is a "place"at the end of my street 3 short blocks from my house called "Bottoms up" where pasties are in full use. lol. maybe both kinds of pasties  gosh look what ya all did shame on yous!!!!!

Doody 06-17-2008 08:44 AM

You mean to tell me, all those boob cover things I just sent out were supposed to be posties instead?

:thud:

Doody 06-17-2008 08:46 AM

Oh and by the way...my neighborhood just got new lock mailboxes which went into use yesterday.

My very first piece of mail in that new mailbox was from Australia. :)

Thanks to all for the way cool pasties. Uh, posties.

tovaxin_lab_rat 06-17-2008 05:13 PM

See what you started Shelley...and I had nothing to do with it!!

LOL!!

:p:p:p:p:p

Doody 06-17-2008 06:50 PM

Well, I managed to get 3 posties out today. And the lucky winners are.... I mean...who wouldn't want to get a postcard from Iowa. Finding postcards here is difficult. What with all the tourists we get. http://home.mchsi.com/~njp/emoticons/rofl.gif

Koala77 06-17-2008 08:42 PM

YAY! I got 2 post cards in the mail today! :yahoo:

Thank you Alffe for your lovely card from NY City. I do hope that you've had the very best of times! :)

BMW, your card came today as well! You've no idea how much the picture on the front reminded me of some of the east coastal towns and cities of Australia. By that I mean ones on the Pacific Ocean side.

My first thought was that it looked similar to Surfer's Paradise, which is a holiday destination for hundreds of thousands of Ozzies each year, but at the same time, there were similarities to other places as well!

I hope I didn't send you a picture of Australian beaches! :o

Next round I must remember to send you pictures of our rainforests! :D

Just a hint for other peoples : One of you put 3 Bell Stamps on the card, and the other used 4 of the same, and they both got here! :)
