Fall....(ouch)

Had my really bad first fall. Was trying to put on my shorts and lost my balance.Grabbed for the nearest thing and it was the bed lost grip and plop right into the floor I went. Now on top of the flare up I have been having since last Monday I am dealing with a sore bottom and arm.

So sorry to hear about your fall. At least you did not break anything! Hope you feel better soon.

Twinkletoes 06-16-2008 09:20 PM

Owee!

That's too bad, coletaterbug.

Guess by now you've picked yourself up and dusted off. At least it wasn't in the middle of WalMart parking lot or somewhere public.

I was on crutches for a broken ankle recently and had a bad fall in a Wendy's bathroom. It was so embarrassing -- they called the EMTs and everything. :o

Now you just need someone to come along and kiss your booboos better.

Snoopy 06-16-2008 09:31 PM

So sorry you fell, coletaterbug. Take care of yourself

Taffy 06-16-2008 09:36 PM

Shorts? Is that pants or underpants? Just curious!:D

Hey...welcome to the Fall Club! We need some special name.

But on the bright side you get a nickel!

Hope your boo-boo feels better soon!

SallyC 06-16-2008 11:20 PM

So sorry for your fall, Coletaterbug..

And yes, welcome to the club, you never wanted to be a member of..

Hope your ouchy heals fast and your flare stops soon..:)

Kitty 06-17-2008 04:39 AM

So sorry you fell!! I hope you're not too sore....you know it takes a day or two for the full effects to set in. :( Be careful - let someone else wait on you if you can.

tkrik 06-17-2008 08:41 AM

I hate that when that happens. It is so frustrating and bothersome. I am part of the fall club.

I hope you are doing better this morning and arm and bottom are doing better. Sending you gentle 's.

mom23angels 06-17-2008 08:57 AM

Taterbug,

I'm sorry to hear about your fall. The best thing for boo-boos (for my kids) is to kiss the boo boo, BUT considering you fell on your tuchas I'll just have to give you a hug! :) I hope you feel better soon!

AfterMyNap 06-17-2008 10:06 AM

Ugh, I hate that! Coletaterbug and all, please go get taught how to fall. It's not a joke, a PT, a football player, or a gymnast can quickly teach you falling techniques to avoid injury. These tips have spared me many serious injuries over the years.

When I tore my rotator cuff, I was told that I needed falling lessons. That was the last serious injury I've had from a fall. Plus, I look gooooood on the way down. ;)

I hope your ego is all that got injured, Bug. :)

karousel 06-17-2008 10:20 AM

Sorry you fell. I hope your soreness gets better quickly.

lady_express_44 06-17-2008 11:45 AM

I fell down a flight of stairs last November ... ouch! ... and have done the Wal-Mart parking lot too. My doc rx's Naproxen in bulk now. :D

When those periods of difficulty come on, I am MUCH more careful with every step I make . . . and if all else fails, I use a walker for a while. Better safe then sorry, as it seems to take a lot longer to heal these days.

Hope you recover quickly.

I really like AMN's idea of falling lessons. Sounds funny at first (I fall just fine without lessons, thank you)..But when you think about it, the way you fall (or rather, the way you land) could make a big difference whether you're injured or not..or how badly.
Here's to "Falling With Style", as Buzz Lightyear would say.. Hope the soreness goes away soon!

NurseNancy 06-17-2008 08:22 PM

sorry about your fall.
if it's within 24 hrs try icing it on and off.
otherwise try some moist heat on and off.

if you need call your dr.
and take some tylenol. not aspirin. if you've got bruising aspirin can make it worse. and tylenol if your dr agrees. i'm not a dr and can't prescribe meds.

DM 06-17-2008 08:38 PM

OUCH! At least I'm not gonna be the only one w/bruises. I've taken quite a few spills myself. Glad you weren't hurt worse. take care.
