I just noticed!

I can see!!! :eek::D

My right eye has had optic neuritis since February of this year, but I didnt start having vision problems with it until late April, early May. I just had eye pain on moving the eye before that.

I had some improvement the other day, but it went away when I went to a grocery store that had fluorescent lights that could vaporize small animals that get too close.

It's still not as good as it could be, and colors arent quite as vivid as they are in the other eye. But, it's really good improvement! I can actually read the text on the page and it doesnt seem like there's much difference between this eye and the other one.

I hope this lasts more than a day this time. I'm excited! Almost afraid to go to bed because I'm scared it'll be back to the crappy vision in the morning.

I hate any reflecting lights whatsoever. I have had optic neuritis but regular eye doctor never caught it.Well sometimes it gets better but still have leftover symptoms. So now can't drive because during the day the sun is my enemy at night anything reflective is.Hugs I really hope yours clears up completely.

Erin that is awesome! I hope it continues to improve. It is such a wonderful feeling when we realize that something has improved. I am so happy and excited for you.

Erin, good for you! It takes time. My "breakthrough" probably didn't happen until about 6 months and I was still seeing improvement after a whole year! In terms of acuity, color is usually the last thing to return. My neuro-ophthalmologist told me it's like hitting the rewind button -- it comes and then goes in the reverse way that it all came on. It was like that for me to a 'T'!

Yay Erin
So glad to hear a bit of good news from you. I hope it continues.

It's wonderful to hear news like this.

I can feel the glow of the big smile on your face. :D

So far so good. I think it's still improving. At least it's been staying at a constant since I noticed that it had improved.

I did notice earlier this week that everytime I've been in a certain grocery store, that things would look worse. So, yesterday, after I'd noticed that things were looking pretty good (literally) thru my eye. I wore sunglasses (at night) in the grocery store when we went there last night to pick some stuff up.

People gave me weird looks because I was wearing my sunglasses inside. (it was 10pm) But at least no one made any coments to me. After I left the store and had taken off the sunglasses, I was happy that it seemed like the glasses made the difference. I think some of the fluorescent light got past the sunglasses because for about 10 minutes after I left the store, my eye felt the tiniest bit strange, but no where near what it felt like earlier in the week when I went in there.

This morning, there's less fuzziness in my vision. It's not blurred, but colors are still a bit strange, but the color weirdness is nowhere near the problem I had the first time I got ON in my other eye.

It just feels so much better than it did a few weeks ago. I hope this is the back end of this latest bit of ON, and that it'll go away for a long time now and not come back to bother me anymore.

I still cant decide which is worse. Crappy vision problems, or annoying numbness problems. (btw, I'm not numb this week either...yay! well, except for my baby toe on the right foot...but other than that things are great!)

I'm still a little scared that now that the vision is clearing up, something worse is going to come along and torture me for the next 6 months.

Take one thing at a time. Right now it is great that your vision is improving!!!

MSacorn 06-22-2008 06:29 PM

Erin
I too am bothered by fluorescent lighting in stores. I've been known to wear sunglasses day and night. It has cut down on the disorientation and dizziness I experienced previously. I'm glad you found a easy fix for your eyes. I hope they continue to improve.

I went out to eat with my parents. Kept my sunglasses on while I was outside, but took them off inside the restaurant. Didnt realize the lights in the restaurant had bugged my eye until I went outside (forgot to put sunglasses on right away) and realized that my eye was unhappy with me.

So, now I'm sitting at home, waiting for the eyeball to readjust. At least it'll readjust, it just takes a few hours sometimes.

Erin524 06-23-2008 04:40 PM

Knew it was too good to last.

dangit! I've been sitting here, willing my eyeball to go back to the improvement that I had for the past couple of days.

No such luck.

Stuff isnt blurred, but I have the annoying white fog that's making it difficult to read. (especially on the computer with a lot of white in the backgrounds)

Maybe it's because I slept so late today. (didnt get up till almost 1pm...felt like being lazy)

Maybe it's because it's 90+ degrees today. I havent gone outside, but our upstairs is really warm because my mom believes that leaving the door open to our glass enclosed deck will keep the upstairs cool. (the deck has it's own a/c, but she freaks if I turn it on)

I had to turn down the a/c because my basement was getting warm. I'm sure my dad will freak out when he see's that the a/c is set to 74 instead of 76.

Someday, they might figure out that heat = nerves acting fubar for me. I've told them, but I dont think it's kicked in just yet for them.
