Going to hosp. on Tues.
*lol* I don't know if today is getting better or worse. I have been dealing with low blood pressure/high pulse for weeks and finally saw a doctor today. She took my BP/pulse while lying down.. 106/75 and a pulse of 84.. .to my BP dropping and pulse rising when I stand up to 85/58 and a pulse of 120.
Needless to say..my heart is working hard for some reason to bring my BP up and the doctor doesn't know why *lol*, my mom called me a hypochondriac.. like I can just change my BP/pulse at will (she really did say it's all in my head) The doctor gave me some FLUDRICORTISONE that I can take tomorrow morning, guess it's supposed to open my arteries up. On Tuesday, I go to the hosp. for an Echo. I already had blood drawn and will have more drawn then. My Neuro is out till the middle of next week, not that he was a help because I waited 1 1/2 weeks for a response when I first had symptoms.. my PCP was Not happy today with that *lol* Soooo.. just more drama in my life.. if I donate my body to science when I pass on..they are going to have a fieldday! But, I would much rather this ALL happening to me than my boys. I did IM my little brother today about my symptoms and he's having weird heart things as well but not at home in Mass, he's in Vegas for the summer. I told him NOT to mess around with his heart. Sometimes I just feel like Life is just continuing to Bend Me Over! |
awwwwwww monique i'm sorry  i'm sending good vibes your way...everything will be okay and don't worry about what mom says.....you know how you feel better than anyone else.
please let us know how things go whenver you get a chance.:hug::hug: like the pic! LOL |
I'm so sorry Monique. :( I hope it turns out to be something minor. It's good you're getting the echo done. I had one done before and they aren't difficult that I recall. The cardio doc back then said something about a slight leakiness but that it wasn't serious.
|
aww. feel better hun. its no fun to be sick.
|
sorry monique,
these little blips in our physical radar are stressful and upsetting. at least your pcp is taking you seriously and doing the right things for you. please keep us posted. i've had an echo and it's nothing to sweat over. just waiting for the results will be. but us MS folks sure learn how to be patient. |
Hi Monique,
I am soooo sorry this is happening to you, but I am glad you have an attentive doctor that is doing something for you. It is not fun being a mom, having MS and being more sick. Give yourself a break when you can. Only you can take of you. |
I've heard that this kind of thing can be MS related..
I'm glad your Doc is taking you seriously. Let us know, when you do and feel better.. |
Monique, I hope you feel better soon. Hang in there, we're here for you. Let us know what you find out.
|
Sending you good thoughts and (((hugs))).
|
((((((Monique))))))) As if having MS isn't enough, some other "strange" thing has to come along. :( I'm glad your pcp at least listened to you and took you seriously. Good grief -- it's your heart for crying out loud!! Last July 4th, I was in the hospital for a similar thing which turned out to be atrial fibrillation. My heart kept racing, couldn't take a deep breath, light-headed when I moved, etc. It corrected itself but now I have to take Warfarin, a blood thinner, for the rest of my life. Apparently if it happens too often, a stroke might occur. The "bloodsuckers" come to my house about every three weeks to check the Coumadin level. Mine is usually low.
Good luck with finding some answers and be sure to keep us posted. My heart goes out to you and all the other Moms with young children on this board. I don't know how you cope!!! Mine were grown by the time this dreadful disease really became active. Take care............ |
I hope they can find answers quickly, and that those answers are easily dealt with.
Hugs and positive thoughts are on their way. |

Sorry to hear that you are having these problems Monique.
Don't let your Mother's comments upset you any more. I have had echo cardo done a few times and there is nothing to it. Let us know what happens Jappy  |
Just checking in to see if you have had time to do an update. I hope you can rest.
|
Mo, I agree with everyone else. Your mom's not your doctor. And thank goodness for that.
;) Anyhoo, we believe you. Get your tests done and let's hope they get this thing figured out quick for you. And let's hope the fix envolves Bermuda and lots of drinks. I'll go along with you. (Hey, somebody has to keep an eye on you.)  |
OMG, I cannot even imagine taking my mothers advice. I had a flash of my mom in an MD coat coming into the room, with all of her old hillbilly back woods cures.
Dont hang clothes on the line while pregnant, you tie the babies cord in a knot. Put butter on burns use sugar to cure the hiccups. I just saw a flash of all the old wives tales she spouted at me over the years. Even after I graduated with my MSN in nursing. HA! |
Good luck...hope the test tells you something...it's so difficult not knowing what's going on.
We'll all be sending prayers tomorrow! |
Mo? You okay? You haven't been around. I hope you're just hiding someplace cozy with lots of paper and those gel pens you love so much. Let us know that you're okay!
|
It is best to be getting the ticker checked out. I will be thinking of you!
|
Good luck with testhing. Hope they find out soon. Feel better. Sending positive thoughts and prayers.
's |
Mo. I hope the tests turn out okay. Please let us know how you are doing when you get a chance.

Hi Monique,
Check in and let us know you're OK, ya hear? I hope everything goes well tomorrow at the hospital. Please let us know how things are first chance you get! |
If it helps you at all, I had/have a similar problem. I was finally sen by a top cardio who is a top Cardiac Electrophysiology cariologist who diagnosed me easily. Had tests performed which confirmed his opinion. I have "neurocardiogenic mediated syncopal defect" {also known as NMH neuro mediated hypotension} - a string of big words that means a neuro defect causes the vagal nerve (which affects heart rate and BP) to send improper signals to the heart and blood vessels. It is actually a neuro problem that affects the cardio system (veins, arteries and heart) as opposed to a heart disorder. In other words the brain tells the nerves to dialate/constrict the blood vessels and the heart to increase/decrease pumping velocity & speed.
I had the BP and heart rate (pulse) tests sitting, lying down and standing more times than I can remember, EKGs and a test that is a gold standard called the Tilt-Table test (T.T.T.). I had my TTT done with no medication and with drugs used to induce the problem. I flunked with flying colors. I am on a combination of a beta blocker (Lopressor), midodrine (Proamatine) and Florinef (fludrocortisone) and increased salt uptake. It works very well for me. While I had an intractible case they finally have it fairly well managed on the drugs. A lot of folks can get by with increased salt consumption and/or just one of the meds. Don't be alarmed if they have you stop the med (Florinef) and schedule a TTT. The procedure sounds frightening and looks a bit scary. It essentially is where you lay on a hard flat table (kind of like a wide MRI table), strap you down with large velcro belts with your feet firmly against the bottom plate. They hook you up to monitors and start an IV access. The table slowly tilts upwards to secific degrees of upright over time then back down again. They do this several times to get an average of marker readings. They may also give you a medicine in the IV (can't recall name) that makes you feel like crap. If you NCMS you will have an episode. I truly felt worse than ever. My cardio came in and said it confirmed the diagnosis and I went home with Rx. I folow up as needed (at least 1 a year) and my PCP also monitors my labs and heart. The cardio even taught me a manuver that helps overcome the passing out or near passing out dizzies for when I can't just lie down. You essentially cross your legs tighlty while standing and squeeze together like crazy ~ a bit like the gotta go peep pee dance:-). This will force more oxygenated blood to the brain and temporarily increase your BP. The body works in amazing ways - if your pulse increases your vessels dialate (drop your BP) and vice versa. With this condition the signals (originates in the fight or flight center of the brain, especiall y for temp and exercetion) goes wacky and sends wrong signal or delays sending proper signal. Very much like an extreme version of vaso vagal atack. It is a response not under consious control so this may get your Mom thinking properly as it not in any way under your control. Hope this helps and good luck finding an answer!!! |
Yo, Mo! Where'd ya' go????:confused::confused::confused:
