Bad Neuro

Dr. Herbert P. Edmundson Jr, MD, Ph.D

Avoid this guy like the plague. 7777 SW Freeway, Memorial Hermann, Houston.

This guy is a total freking idiot. He is didactic to a fault. Avoid him.

I will slam him on every board I can. I've never been so emotional about a specific doctor. He is a very arrogant jerk. I have never been so slammed by a doctor. I will refrain from calling him any names because I'll just get banned.

If ya want help with your MS or other neurological conditions - stay away from this guy. He's on another planet - no idea. He doesn't recognize MS. He's not a specialist - and told me today he didn't think I had MS. I took films, radiologists reports for the last 20 years... this guy thinks he's god and nobody knows better than him. Stupid...

Stay away from him. He's got a serious ego problem. And he's stupid. And Arrogant. And a fool.

His patient skills are very poor. I have no idea why I didn't walk out after the first two minutes but I really wanted answers why the peripheral neurapathy...

Tom

Disappointed

greta 06-30-2008 06:21 PM

That sucks. I can't believe he questioned it - what a crock. You couldn't be more textbook if you tried. At least he didn't try to sell you on a DMD...What about Darah's neuro - she seems to really like him?

SallyC 06-30-2008 06:30 PM

Sounds like a real weinner.. What a waste of your valueable time and money..

Don't mince words now, Tom, tell us how you really feel..:D

PolarExpress 06-30-2008 06:43 PM

You know Tom, we have a "Do You Swear" thread that might be just what you need. Sorry you had such a carppy doctor.

suzyqz_2007 06-30-2008 07:08 PM

Wow Tom, I am so sorry you had to deal with such a jerk. Thanks for giving us heads up about him.

JessieSue 06-30-2008 07:19 PM

Tom I'm so sorry you had that experience! I too had a run in with an arrogant jerk of a neuro a few years back. That donkey made me second guess everything I felt and thought.....I am still infuriated every time I think about this man and the way he treated me! And he was supposed to be "one of the best"..........well, I know what he mighta been best at, but no way could I put it on here! I'll be thinking about you Tom!

You have to register at this one, but there are a lot of entries for TX. Maybe he's already there . . .

Oh man I can relate...I have had so many bad ones it is unreal.....

I am so dumb..or desperate I went to this one Dr, twice...And both times got up and hobbled out of there...In the middle of the exam....cussing him out...louder than a whisper and softer than a yell.

My sympathies Tom

NurseNancy 06-30-2008 11:36 PM

this guy sounds like the worst of the worst.
i wouldn't even pay the bill.

in fact, i'd report him to his superior and/or the medical board.

i hope you get some satisfaction from this awful appt.
and get the answers you need somewhere else.
houston is a big town.

yeahbut 07-01-2008 05:02 AM

Sorry Tom for your troubles - I hope you find the answers you need!

Riverwild 07-01-2008 04:47 PM

Sorry to hear you had to pay this guy to find out what a #$%^ he is!

It's happened to me too. An arrogant know-it-all dissmissive chump with a diploma from some little lava lump I've never heard of acts like I don't know my own symptoms or the body I've lived in 45 yrs.

And I wonder am I nuts? Maybe he's right?

Maybe it is just me?

But I know you Tom. I tell ya, You're as sane and normal a person as I know (and I mean that in a good way) and it burns my toast that some madman treated you like that.

:mad::mad::mad:

I'd use all my profanities on the twerp if I knew how to spell them in dingbats and pound signs.

abbydoodle 08-04-2008 05:29 PM

Tom, know this man. He verbally attacked me. Not even his patient he just shows buttocks and made stupid assumptions. He is a vile vicious man. Runs around beating chest saying I am a the doctor you MUST listen to me. Huh? People in that work in the office appear to be afraid of him.

Would you believe he is currently president and CEO of that office. I don't think he has accomplished much in his life. He has had to buy his way onto the St Thomas Univ. BOD.

But let met say. There are some really GREAT office people and other doctors in that practice I have know for years. PLEASE don't think the whole office is like him. They are not.

Yes wish there was some way to have him removed from medicine for lack of intelligence and social graces.

Bannet 08-04-2008 07:20 PM

Sorry Tom! Hopefully you'll find a great doctor who understands!

Good Luck!

Gazelle 08-04-2008 08:15 PM

Crap, Tom, you didn't need two problems! One's bad enough!!! ;) Fer cryin' in a bucket....... don't blame you for slamming him. You're not one to do that, so I know what it means when you do.

What Greta said.....and if you need her info, let me know. I know how to reach her.

Sheesh...... enough is enough.

weegot5kiz 08-04-2008 10:24 PM

sorry tom, and for you to speak out like this, it must of been bad, again sorry, hope he doesnt find himself krazy glued to the tail of the next shuttle launch:Halo:

TXBatman 08-04-2008 10:55 PM

Sorry to hear it Tom. I went to a foot doc at that same hospital complex who after multiple visits and no relief wanted to do surgery to remove a nerve in my foot. I got a second opinion elsewhere (they told me to wear wider shoes...problem fixed). It must be something in the water in that complex.

If you are looking for a non-ms specialist neuro, try Dr. Mary Ellen Vanderlick in St Lukes Professional Tower on Fannin. I have been extremely happy with her. She is very patient, discusses everything with me, and isn't hard to get an appt. to see. She is in the Alpert and Sermas Neurological group (avoid Alpert).

D_HOLLAND 08-05-2008 07:06 AM

Tom,

sorry about your visit - that's just uncalled for - makes you wonder how some doctors get their licenses.

Why did you go to him? don't you already have a neurologist?

dshesq 06-19-2009 09:34 AM

Better Late . . .

Tom,

This is the guy who almost drove me over the edge back in 2003 when I was trying to get a definitive dx!

You've described (or is that nailed?) him to a T!

I left his office in tears and disbelief. I've never had anyone be so dismissive of my symptoms--as if I couldn't describe what was happening to me! He didn't want to see any of my medical records or films. He did a perfunctory exam, ordered doppler study for my migraines & told me there was no way I had MS.

He's the reason that I recommend that anyone with suspected MS not go to any neuro other than an MS specialist.

There are two really sad things about him. First, I first saw him in 1990 to rule out any kind of brain disease as the reason for my migraines & he was a wonderful, compassionate physician--that's why I went back in 2003. Second, he's in practice with my shrink's father & my shrink & his dad are exceedingly competent, understanding, empathetic and well-regarded by the medical community. I truly wonder what happened to sour this doctor so much. Unlike my shrink and his dad, this guy truly acts like his patients are both stupid and an inconvenience to him.

I so wish I had been paying attention to the board last year--I could have saved you a lot of grief, not to mention the expense of seeing this would-be neuro!

Riverwild 06-19-2009 10:51 AM

Hey Looky!! It's Darah!!

:Wave-Hello: Long time no see! How are you?

I'm hanging in there. I've been so busy being a "sports mom" that I woke up one day and realized I've neglected myself, but that's an entirely different post yet to be made!

I've decided I need to reconnect with the world and I thought this would be a great place to start!

I've missed all of you . . .

MommaD 06-19-2009 02:54 PM

Tom,

Try either Dr. Rivera or Dr. Hutton.......both are great. They are at the MS Clinic, phone # 713 798 7707.

I have been seeing Dr. Rivera since 2001 when I was dx'd. I love him to death.

shortfusion 06-19-2009 11:39 PM

I think I am in the same boat with you.

My doc said to me 'it's like you want ms' after asking him where I stand onthe diagnosis and what about lyme, lupus, ect...

I cried when I left his office.
