Just had the coolest star sighting

Went to dinner with some old work colleagues tonight to a little italian place in my neighborhood.

And in walks Kate Hudson and Lance Armstrong. And the paparazzi were outside stalking them.

BUt they were so cute together and very cuddly.

Twinkletoes 07-01-2008 01:26 AM

How fun!

So, did they show up on their bicycles, wearing yellow shirts?

yeahbut 07-01-2008 05:18 AM

That is cool Shelley!

yesterday in SW Harbor, Maine a little coastal (rich) town was in a uproar when Julie Roberts flew in to check up on her new yacht. DBF said he saw a glimp of her when they were at the dock and he was three yacht's over. He said there was someone else with her but he couldn't remember her name but everyone said she was famous too.

I had to pick a rental customer up at the airport coming in for the summer. She was an editor for Working Woman and Child Magazine and has written two books. I was upset that I had to go cause we were short handed and I had way to much to do to be doing the Recon's Job as well. But, all in all I was glad I went - she was wonderful to talk to and had so many stories to tell me. Made the day a little better!

oppps did I just take over your thread - sorry!

mrsD 07-01-2008 05:39 AM

Wow...

Is she dating him...? Are they an item?

I sure hope not...I think he is bad news. Just my opinion!

But that is exciting...I've seen several celebrities in NY and Toronto too. I didn't see any in Calif...but I was only there once and that was LONG ago.

kicker 07-01-2008 06:36 AM

Long ago, I got to go to a "Chicago" cast party ,( was dating guy in band hired to play there). Cheeta Rivera and Sammy Davis Jr. were there (no, we didn't talk.) Later a very drunk Liza Minelli sang in the elevator on our ride down and almost threw up on my shoes. See, stars are just like us.

MelodyL 07-01-2008 08:37 AM

Julia Roberts is married to Danny Moder. They have twins and another little boy Henry. She probably has one of the stablest marriages going.

Kate Hudson is definitely dating Lance Armstrong(who used to date Cheryl Crow, who broke up HIS marriage).

Bet no one knows that Kate Hudson is the result of Goldie Hawn's marriage to one of the Hudson Brothers (sooooo many years ago). Bill Hudson, I believe his name is.

Years ago, and I mean YEARS AGO, she was married to Gus Trikonis, who's sister was in West Side Story.

Good Lord, she goes WAY BACK NOW DOESN'T SHE??

But she still looks amazing. I heard that she and Kurt Russell treated themselves years ago to his and her face lifts.

God, if I had the money!!!!!

Oh, 45 or so years ago, my dad was in an elevator, the doors opened, and in walked Perry Como (WHO WAS A HUGE STAR AT THE TIME WITH HIS OWN TV SHOW).

My father went nuts, got all excited, grabbed him, hugged him and said 'Oh My God, Perry Como, I love You".

Thank god Perry had the compassion to laugh it off and just say "don't squeeze the life out of me".

Stars MUST know what they do to people who recognize them. I mean, they're celebrities for gosh sakes.

I love running into them. I would know NOT to ask Paul Newman for his autograph (I see him coming out of Cornell from time to time). No one approached him. They must know his need for privacy and that he doesn't like to be approached.

What's sad is that all the older ones, well, they are getting older, and they no longer like to be in the publc eye.

I mean, how many photos do you see of Brigette Bardot anymore?? And she was a HUGE STAR!!!

lol

Jomar 07-01-2008 12:50 PM

Ahh gosh , loonnggg ago when Kurt Russell was doing Disney movies - i think he was one of my first "crushes" then Davey Jones of the Monkeys LOL

Maybe the paparazzi was stalking you, Shels!

Did you forget to take your tiara off again?:p

watsonsh 07-01-2008 01:58 PM

Well now that you mention it Taffy...I have not taken off my crown since I was made a princess.

And those two papparazzi...one looked like FG and the other was on a scooter so perhaps you are right they were stalking "WCP"

KathyM 07-01-2008 03:16 PM

Shelley

That IS a cool sighting, but I'm not so sure of this relationship. They should have checked with me first. :p That Kate is a sweetie - same sparkle as her mom. Lance, well, Lance knows how to ride a bike real fast. :D

My friend met Paul McCartney at a benefit a few years ago. She knew ahead of time she would be introduced to him, and she was nervous. She had spent some of the best years of her life "in love" with Paul, so she didn't want to embarrass herself. She memorized a dignified welcome to Chicago and cordial greeting. :)

When the time came to shake his hand, her eyes glazed over and all she could blurt out was "I was in the audience when you came to Chicago in 1964." He smiled at her sweetly and said "Ah yes, I remember you." :p

KathyM 07-04-2008 06:48 PM

When I was around 10, my parents went away for the weekend. Naturally, my teenage sister decided to throw a party - just her friends though. As parties like that go, things got out of hand and this tiny house was PACKED with people - cars and motorcycles everywhere outside.

The next morning I woke up to find bodies strewn all over the house. As I stepped over them, I looked into their faces. Their look and the way they were positioned made me think of mom in one of her "horrible" times. It was the first time I ever saw anyone choose to do that to themselves for entertainment or want to look like that around their friends - or strangers like me.

I woke up my sister and asked why so many people came. She told me, "Word got out that Styx would be here." They were a local band around here.

After everyone came back to life and most people left, my sister and her friends took me out for breakfast. It was an appropriate bribe to keep me quiet - I GOT TO EAT PANCAKES - not with just a knife and fork - WITH STYX!! :D

I'm sure Dennis DeYoung does not remember that day. My sister barely remembers what happened back then.

MelodyL 07-04-2008 07:12 PM

I wish I even knew who Styx is !!!!

lol

allentgamer 07-04-2008 08:11 PM

That would have been a great breakfast!!!

I think if you can remember the 70's you werent really there :p

Back in my video production biz days I had the opportunity to meet alot of celebs. My favorite is Richard Kiel. We are still good friends and email one another on a regular basis. He does this real fun thing when people want a photograph with him. He hands me the camera, and then puts his hand on their shoulder. Right before I snap the picture he grabs them around the neck and growls....so the pic shows them with big eyes freaking out.

When we have lunch sometimes the restaurant people wont leave him alone, always wanting the autographs. When he is ready to eat he just stands up to his over 7 ft tall height, and says "can I eat now" with this real mean lookin face. Then we can hardly get any service after that as the staff are afraid to come back LOL.

He thinks it is hilarious to see their face when he does these things. He is really a big ole nice guy. Lately he is hangin out with the mini me character doing commercials. Now that must look real funny!!!!

I can attest to that - but I remember every minute! I searched high and low, but only found people who wanted to turn on, tune in, drop out - then turn away.

KathyM 07-05-2008 01:02 PM

Oh man, I can't forget Mr. "I Pity the Fool" T!!!! :D He was the nicest man.

He was the bouncer at Dingbat's, my favorite dance club back in the day. He told my friend and I if anyone even looked at us funny, he'd take care of them for us. I was introduced to my ex-husband there - not by Mr. T., but from a co-worker of mine at the hospital I saw there one night. He introduced me to his brother-in-law. :)

Still, I guess you could say if it hadn't been for Mr. T., my son would never have been born. Then again, maybe I wouldn't be such a Dingbat today. :p

Reading about Styx really brought back some memories! They use to play at a NW Indiana place called the Sherwood Club in the early 70's before they`got there moment of fame. It was a small place with no seating- you just sat on the floor. My girlfriend always jumped up swaying when they played "lady". I also saw Aerosmith really early on. I went to a tiny old movie theater thinking that the New York Dolls were playing. When I got there Aerosmith (a band I never heard of) was there. It was a great experience being so close to them on that little stage that was where the screen use to be. Knew they were going to sell a lot of records!
I've had a few small star encounters, but my first one I'll never forget. As a preschooler I was taken into Chicago to Bozo's Circus. Don't laugh- for some one that age and at that time Bozo was FAMOUS. Well things didn't go well- I was too short to see anything but the back of heads for the whole show after being so excited I was coming. I had let my mother put my hair in banana curls to sit still seeing nothing for an hour!!! I was miffed. Everybody leaves at the end of the show in a line led by Bozo called "the grand march". The line backs up and the cameras go off. Bob Bell (AKA Bozo) wanders back along the line laughing and talking to the kids. He comes up to the boy next to me and points at my curls and says "look that girl has crooked hair". I REALLY wanted to bite him.
