Years Half Over - Cheers

Can you believe it is July 1st??? The year is half over already! Where does the time go?

Cheers! Here is to a great second half of 2008!

GladysD 07-01-2008 06:18 AM

Cheers to YOU 2!!! :) Happy July :D

MSacorn 07-01-2008 08:26 AM

The older I get the faster time goes. I guess summers almost over too.

Happy July Everyone!

's

What a depressing thought.

Seems like I just paid off last Xmas and the spasticity from the cold weather only let up a few days ago.

I always greet the month of July with a mix of sorrow and happiness.

My wedding anniversary is July 6th.:) Tim passed away on July 9th.:( And Kevin's birthday is July 31st. :)

We always took a vacation in July. The GM plant always shut down for two weeks in July. We always went to Daytona Beach and got to know many of the "regulars" down there. I haven't been since 2000.

Kevin turns 21 this month!! I guess we'll have a big "shindig" for him. His girlfriend is having a cookout at her house, too. It should be fun.

Gotta keep my mind on the positive things....and that's hard when it's hot as you-know-what here!! :D

AfterMyNap 07-01-2008 10:52 AM

The weather here has been sooo nice this year, I hate to think about it ending, so, ya'll just shut up and quit ruining my day!

It seems like the older my dad gets, the faster the time goes. ;)

SallyC 07-01-2008 11:14 AM

I figure, half my life is over, if I live to be 136..:D

July is busting out all over.....er...no...that was June. Oh well, Happy 4th, anyway.

Girlie Girl 07-01-2008 11:23 AM

Cheers to you Yabbit! Hopefully you have a 2nd half of the year that is healthier for you!

Hello AMN! I miss those nicknames! I haven't been around in a while. They always make me giggle...another one GigglyGirl :p

I wish I could cheer for the half year, but it's been a mixed one for me!

The fiscal year ended where I work yesterday. There was a notice on the office door. All it says is changes are coming in August. It's my understanding that the state is going to change the classification of the license where I work. The new license will mean less training and less money. It may also mean a loss of some benefits. No more information is available until August-Sept.

So, that means I may be in trouble. I am at the top of the ladder in seniority. I retain the "old" insurance. You remember, the one that isn't HMO, PPO, managed care, etc? The GOOD insurance?

Three people have been fired in the last week. They were all "old hands" meaning top of the ladder.

I have a target on my back and a huge foot hovering over it. I already put in for my vacation time this summer and cannot take it back. If I had known about these changes and what they mean, I could have planned and saved some of my leave time for a cushion to land on when they kick me over the edge.

I'm not going to obsess over it, the old man is doing that for both of us. I figure it will all turn out ok in the end, and we will live. The only thing that scares me is my insurance...sigh.

I made an appointment to talk to a college planner Thursday...bleah. I have to get all my certs and classes and credits together and see what they will honor and what I can do. Anyone know what student insurance covers?:D

Thankfully, the night shift is out of sight and hopefully out of mind.:(

Wow! I started this thread thinking it was going to be a good thing - possitive ending to a year that has not had the best start but reading everyone's post it didn't work that way! :o

I am sorry.... I hope the second part of the year is better for all of us!

McGimpy 07-01-2008 08:12 PM

I'm sure the second half of this year will be better for all of us.
We just have to hang in there:):grouphug:

Don't worry, Char, I don't think anyone got pulled down because of your observation. For me, it feels like summer just got here and thoughts of another MI winter are pretty much overwhelming to me!

Today is the only day that concerns me, and thanks to you in part, it has been a great day! And, there is much yet to do in the making hay while the sun shines department, I have plans to keep!:D:hug:

JessieSue 07-01-2008 09:29 PM

I have to say, 2008 has treated me well so far, I can't complain. I do hope those of you having a rough time will get relief ASAP! One thing I know for sure, I'll be here the second half of the year with ALL of you wonderful people!! And I want to help any way I can, even just be a shoulder to lean on as you all have done for me when I neeeded it!:grouphug:

braingonebad 07-02-2008 10:16 AM

July? To Sally, AMN and I that means we can put away the snow shovel for 3 weeks.

:D

Or at least 2.

We gotta get together ladies. I got a bottle of tequila with your name on it. Your name is Jose, right?

You may have a point, Brain, it does seem like OH and zone really need to get their margaritas in a row and get together for at least one get together. Whottsamattahwitchu people?????

Kitty 07-02-2008 11:16 AM

This really has been an OK year for me....July is and always will be a difficult month for me. Kevin's birthday is really the only bright spot in that month. But....it is what it is and I've learned to deal with it.

I dislike hot weather very much and since Georgia has such mild winters (usually) I'm looking forward to the cooler weather getting here. That's December for us.......

I'll take mine frozen with NO SALT!! Oh, and one of those little paper umbrellas, too!

http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...margaritas.jpg

Who's in charge of the food? We gotta eat, ya know. :p

Riverwild 07-02-2008 03:38 PM

Hauls out those three giant punchbowls that my mother left to me and starts the giant Margarita party (I always wondered if I would ever use them!)...puts Brain's bottle of Jose up on the table and pulls out another full case of 1/2 gallon bottles...mixes 'em up and sticks the giant lawn umbrella in one and yells....

PARTY!!!

fires up the gas grille and plops in my lawn chair to wait for the people to start showing up...sipping my giant margarita!

(I truly DO believe that the rest of the year will be a wonderful year!)

CHEERS EVERYONE!

yeahbut 07-03-2008 05:06 AM

Whoooo Hoooo! There we go, there is the spirit I was looking for!!

I heard from a "Little Birdie" the other day Chocolate Margarita's are good! Haven't tried one yet but I might have too! :winky:

Kitty 07-03-2008 05:52 AM

Chocolate margaritas??? Not sure if that sounds good or not....I'll let you try one first and then report back! :p

Hey, RW, get some fruit and we can play "bobbing for pineapple" (or strawberries) in your punch bowls! They'll be full of margaritas, I assume?? :o

yeahbut 07-03-2008 07:49 AM

I haven't tried one either just heard about them! I will let you know when I try one too! ;)

You meant chocolate tarminis, right? Too sweet and too chewy for me.

I'll stick with the margaritas, my dear.:D

JessieSue 07-03-2008 01:05 PM

If what is in those punch bowls has the basic components to help me forget where I am, who I am, or what I'm doing, I'll drink it!:thud::Head-Spin:

CayoKay 07-03-2008 03:18 PM

tarminis, lol, Nappy!

and the glass is either half-full, or half-empty, right?

the year's half-over, and my life is half-over (long-lived clan)

I'll be turning 51 in a bit, AND my first anniversary is in a few days.

had some nookie last night, and only a few minor leg cramps, YAY !!

the house is clean, the chores are done, and life is good, despite the painful, scary, and onerous portions allotted to us, by the MonSter.

one drake is plucked (finished up five minutes go) and one more to go...

then, a pair of roosters have a date with the machete, and a pluckin' party tomorrow.

that'll be our week's food dressed and parked in the freezer, and I'll be content.

:D:cool::D

and now, it's nap-time for Kay...

:D;):D

Jappy 07-03-2008 06:27 PM

WILL BE PARTY TIME :Dancing-Chilli::Dancing-Chilli::Dancing-Chilli:

again.

So, you have me thinking, the way to go might be a couple huka hook-ups connected to those bowls, then, gravity would control backwash and there would be no dishwash.:D
