I'm not sure why I'm here
I'm not really even sure if I am allowed to be here. I wandered over from psych central, where I have existed for five years. I don't really have any claim to neurological disorders. Pretty much just depression, anxiety, and personality disorders, and the genes for schizophrenia (my brother died from it - suicide). I'm convinced that I also have a mild muscular dystrophy (minicore myopathy - my mother has it and my brother had it, etc., and it is a dominant gene so 50/50 chance), and also reynaud's disease. But these aren't critical concerns for me. I don't bother with going to doctors. It isn't worth that. I'm just a clutz and cold all the time, even in the summer if there is air conditioning.
Anyway, I didn't want people sending me PMs to think I'm rude for not answering them. I'm not allowed to send PMs here because I haven't posted. But I'll warn you, you might want to stay away from me. I'm nothing but trouble. I bet they aren't even going to approve this post. |
Hi Rapunzel
we are a very diverse group here at NT and so I hope you will soon feel welcome :grouphug: not sure why you feel you wouldnt be allowed to post here:confused: but glad you did :) |

Hi there Rapunzel and welcome to Neurotalk from me as well.
I'm also glad that you posted and I'm sure that given time, you will be too. As a member of Psych Central you'd probably have a good idea how these forums work, but if you need any help, please don't hesitate to ask. May I suggest that as well as our Anxiety Forum you might like to visit our Survivors of Suicide Forum. It's a great place for people like yourself to share, or not to share, however comfortable you feel about your experiences. It's good to meet you, and hopefully I'll meet up with you again some where on the board. Here's the SOS link incase you're interested: http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum29.html |
Rapunzel, of course your welcome here
Make yourself at home, explore and jump in anywhere :) |
Like all of the others said - you are more than welcome here!!
If you need anything, don't be afraid to ask - i'm more than happy to help you in any way I can. Take care and welcome to Neurotalk!! Alison |
Hi, Rapunzel! :Wave-Hello: Welcome to NeuroTalk!
Just be careful, our positive energy here is addictive. :) |
Welcome Rapunzel, you will find we talk about many quality issues over here, does TP go over or under, wont go into details but most of the folks here had their eyes set on this pilot a few weeks back, something about nice legs, i don't know. It is a very diverse group here, many with great sense's of humor, and as we all know humor is the best medicine. many here have hearts of gold, and that is pricless, so i reiterate myself and say Welcome Rapunzel

Hey I'm glad you've found a place to communicate. Frank, as a mom of an adult son of ADHA and a husband too I suspect, and as a teacher of dyslexic kids, your bottom comments brightened my day. Susie

Hello and welcome to NeuroTalk. Great to see you have come to be with us. Just let us know if we can be of any help. Again welcome, looking forward to seeing you around. Darlene  |
Thanks everyone for the nice welcome messages. I'll probably do more reading than anything else here. I'm wondering what's different between here and psych central, besides that this community seems to be more focused on the medical side of things. I'm looking for a place where I can belong, and I don't think there is anyplace like that. I'll post if I see anyplace here that I have anything to contribute, although I'm more focused on mental health. Both as far as my own concerns, and also professionally. I'm a student intern working towards being a mental health counselor. My current settings have a lot of medical involvement though, since I've been doing internship in nursing homes, and my other job is working with developmentally disabled adults, who frequently have various medical concerns too. So I have some experience with things like alzheimer's and autism, which I have seen posts about here.
Maybe what I'm looking for is a place where I might be useful in some way, because I hardly ever feel like I'm worth anything. But I'm spread too thin as it is. |
It's great to hear back from you.
You'll find that there are a large number of registered nurses, and members of other medical careers in all disciplines here on NeuroTalk, so hopefully you'll be able to get valid advice and support now that you've joined us. Welcome again. I look forward to meeting up with you later. |
Hello Rapunzel and Welcome to NeuroTalk. After reading your intro, I think you will fit in just fine here and can probably be of some help to other members. Sometimes it's just knowing others' care that will do the trick. I'm glad you found us and hope you make yourself at home.
