Do you collect Precious Moments?

I have about 80-90 Precious Moments figurines. But there is allot I don't know. Some are retired & I know what that is but what is "suspended"? I looked thru the 1996 catalog &, if I remember correctly, I have about $500 in my cabinet that holds them. I just got another yesterday & now plan to use that catalog again to see the amount. Aren't Precious Moments collectables cute? :winky:

Hi, Lor.

I have several hundred Precious Moments, I started collecting in 1984. I have 2 very large curios full of Precious moments :icon_eek:

I did the collecters club so I have collecters club pieces. I would try and get everything on the suspended list as well as the retired list.

I am no longer in the collecters club and haven't been for a number of years.

I really enjoy my collection but have no idea what it's worth and really they are only worth anything if you can find a buyer. The secondary market probably isn't very good in this economy, but I could be wrong ;)

I have no intention of selling mine, they are for my enjoyment :)

I was wondering if either one of you have been to Precious Memory Park located at Carthage, Missouri? If you have not been there it is well worth it. I and my DH have been there twice and wanting to go back.

LMAO.....

they won't let me sell the "moments" on ebay. They said it has to be something tangible...I decided to sell her "PMS moments" and the bid went up to over $100.00

Sadam Hussein after the ex, huh? So, SHE's the MASS WEAPON of DESTRUCTION!

Now the secret's out....

weegot5kiz 07-07-2008 02:24 AM

Oh good grief! Not another male who calls them PMS

We have moved a "few" times since I started collecting them and I put PM on the boxes. My DH went around to those boxes and added the "s" on the end. It has become a long running joke.

But whats the answer?
(Snoopy, I don't want to sell. I'm just currious. I started collecting in 1994 when my DH gave me "I can't spell success without you", when I was on a business trip with him. I plan to one day give them to my DD; she loves them & a couple are really hers.)

Lor,

If your asking about what your collection is worth?

There are "marks" usually on the bottom of the PM. The mark will indicate the year it was produced. In the begining there were no marks which makes them more valuble to a collector. Each year of production brings a new mark.

Your catalog should show those symbols (marks) and dates along with the current value (I think). It's been quite a few years since I went looking. If your in doubt then find a retailer who handles pieces that are on the secondary market and he/she should be able to tell you.

Any other questions or if I confused you please let me know. :)

I used to give my mom Precious Moments for gifts.

At the end of her time she told me to take them. She had them back in the boxes and ready to go. So I took them home and put them in a safe place. Too sad to look at.

It ended up being a good thing I took them home as their home was recently flooded and the PMs would of been ruined.

Maybe it is time to take them out of their boxes.:o

lor, check on ebay what they are actually selling for.

lil'monkey has some. i really like the ones she has that look like a standing open book with a bible verse on it. i'll see if she has one where i can get a picture of it. they are packed up. no closed in case right now. we didn't want them to get all dusty.

Taffy, only take them out of the box and display if they won't cause emotional pain otherwise they need to stay where they are

Aw....(punch)....You always brighten my day...(slap). Keep up the good work!:D

taffy, She may have given them to you to remind you she loves you & wants you to remember that, each time you look at them. I like to think that my mom can look down on me (everyone up above can look down on their loved ones :)). As a matter of fact, my mom is happy I am telling you this. I have my mom's prayer book & carried it, instead of a bouquet, at my wedding & like to think she was there.
