Should hear today - think possitive

I called my banker yesterday to check on the financing for my new business..... he told me he should hear something by 4:00 yesterday but he was leaving at 2:30 for an appointment (how dare he) but he would call me today to let me know.

Please, keep those fingers crossed for me and say a little prayer / good vibes / good thoughts and all that good stuff!!!

thanks!

Kitty 07-11-2008 05:40 AM

Yoohoooo Char? Any news?

yeahbut 07-14-2008 06:07 AM

Sorry - its been a LONG weekend!

We got good news and bad news! The bad news was we didn't get the loan with the bank (which I kinda knew was going to happen - one thing the ex-husband did leave me is with bad credit) but the good news is ....... our banker is setting up a joint meeting this week with someone from a state agency (who is a good friend of his) who works with small business' starting us with iffy credit. My bank will back this agency up if they decide to take us on. Which my banker has already talked with him and is very excited about the business.

So it isn't over yet, just got one more hill to get over. I haven't given up just yet.... been working on my website all weekend plus some other stuff trying to get this thing moving.

It looks like I am going to be out of a job in a month (business is going to fold) so I need to have something in place before it happens!!!!

So keep those thoughts and prayers coming my way..... it isn't over yet!

karousel 07-14-2008 06:31 AM

I'm sorry to hear you didn't get the loan but it is wonderful that you bank is setting up the appointment with the agency. Best of luck and I will keep thinking of you!

Kitty 07-14-2008 06:36 AM

 Char

I'm so glad the bank is helping with the state agency...sounds like that might be a really great opportunity for you. It'll all happen the way it's supposed to happen....plus you've got all your friends here prayin' for you, too! Sometimes the loss of something just leads you to something better. :)

Hope you have a good Monday!!

Twinkletoes 07-14-2008 08:17 AM

Sounds promising! And exciting! :Excited:

I hope you'll tell us about your venture, Char.

Still praying. (Don't know why I gave you that link earlier, but I suspect I got confused with another thread.) :o

SandyC 07-14-2008 09:53 AM

Thanks for the update Char. If I may ask, what is the business your starting?

Girlie Girl 07-14-2008 09:56 AM

Well, at least it wasn't all bad news! That is the good thing. There is still a chance which is awesome! I hope it all works for you Char, you deserve it.

Let us know what it is all about. And what your website is.

Fingers and toes still crossed for you.

ewizabeth 07-14-2008 10:04 AM

I'll keep you in my prayers Char! It can be a rollercoaster ride starting a new business, but I have a good feeling about yours. You have a good head on your shoulders and I think you'll be fine!

When we were starting our business seven years ago, our insurance agent asked me how I felt. I said, TERRIFIED.

He smiled and said, that's a good sign! You'll do just fine!

starfish 07-14-2008 06:50 PM

Glad you got some good news! Have you looked into the Small Business Association which is run by the gov't to help with a business loan?

I am sorry that the place where you currently work is folding in a month. I really hope your business idea works. Best wishes!

SallyC 07-14-2008 07:10 PM

Still keeping you in my thoughts and prayers, for all the best to happen for you..:)

*furiously googling "The Complete Flinstones: the Ultimate Anthology"*

Why does this idea leave me stone cold?

starfish 07-15-2008 07:45 PM

I love slate! In my life I have ordered a total of 8 palettes! I got very good at building stone walls for my gardens with various homes during the years. I love how the chipmunks love to live and play around in it!!

It fits in so well with the landscaping. As I got older I got smarter and made them wide enough to sit on so I could weed in the flower beds more easily.

I loved finding plants that would drape over the tall walls and flower. It looks so pretty, too in the winter with the snow on top.

Your website brought back some great memories of my gardens in years past. Now I just garden in large pots :(

Whatever, I can still garden on a smaller scale.

I really hope this works for you!!!

SandyC 07-16-2008 09:44 AM

The website is great Char!

Twinkletoes 07-16-2008 11:38 AM

Congratulations, Char!!!

DH and I visited a historic slate quarry in Wales. It was fascinating to learn how each dark cavern belonged to a specific family. It took a family many years to quarry an area that was about the size of a very small house. They had to blast with precision to separate a sheet of slate from the wall. Dangerous work -- and to have your family there helping. What a hard life.

Slate is so plentiful there that you can see it on the roofs of even the most humble homes.

Website is great! You're off to a good start! I'm sure you'll do just fine.

TXBatman 07-16-2008 11:41 AM

As a geologist, let me be the first to tell you don't take slate for granite...

CayoKay 07-16-2008 10:19 PM

oh dear, Batman... I can feel another one comin' on !

Yabbit, I sure hope the meeting went well, and you get to start with a clean SLATE.

:D
