my beloved eMac croaked.

the screen went black, to a bright line from top to bottom, and then winked OUT.

argh, my LIFE is on that computer, 5000 photos, my journals, my research, everything !!

luckily, my darling daughter (29) in California used to work at the Geek Squad as their Mac Specialist, and she's repaired a couple that had this particular problem, it's fried capacitors...

she's found the right caps, (luckily, she lives in Silicon Valley, home of computer geeks galore) and she shipped them to me yesterday.

also luckily, mi esposo is ALSO a total geek, so I let them two yak it all out, (I don't do geek-speak) with long-distance diagnosis and treatment.

so, we're gonna do a little jungle boogie home-repair and soldering here, and with a little MORE luck, I'll be back in business in a couple of weeks...

I truly hope all is not lost and all your photos, research, journals etc can be saved!

With this PC on it's last legs I'm trying to learn to back up everything as I go, but me being me, I do tend to forget at times, but so far almost everything of value has now been saved to disc.

At least in the "old days" we had glossy photos and negatives, as well as journals in hard copy. Oh well. We can't really complain as long as we remember to do what they tell us al the time, and back everything up.
