Dr Phil

I'm rather disappointed in what I saw on Dr Phil today. Tamara has had a few threads here about getting people to write in to try to get him to do a piece on TOS. He just had another show where he has a panel of several doctors answering questions about different conditions. They did a specific piece on a woman suffering from Morgellons Syndrome......a condition with skin lesions that has threads coming out of them which many doctors believe is psychiatric in nature. I'm not suggesting that people with Morgellons don't deserve attention to their plight too....but they said that there might be around 1000 people in the US with that condition. I think our numbers are MUCH higher and we can't get ANY attention.

Okay....I am stepping off of my soapbox now :winky:

Well I suppose part of it boils down to looks - most with TOS still look "normal" - Just not as attention getting as those with obvious visual anomalies....

And it is visual as well as most likely a testable and provable dx:rolleyes:

dr phil is just re-runs in the summer. so that episode wouldn't be a new one.

i would say keep writing. he might add it to a show in the fall when the new ones air.

:Off-Topic: I just wanna say that I think Dr. Phil dumbed down his program only one level higher than Maury Povich. He was wonderful to watch in the beginning but once he began using dramatizations using the people he is counseling I think his program got cheapened. The show focuses on conflict much more than the resolve for ratings purposes in my opinion.
:ranting: Sorry- I just had to say this. I used to like him so much!!! :(

Hi,

I would have to agree with Jo. We all look "normal". People are not interested if you dont look sick and they cant stop and point and stare!

gibbrn 07-31-2008 12:59 PM

No dabbo you won't get paid for Jerry Springer, but they will fly you out there to do the show. I still can't believe this happened but when my daughter was 14 one evening the JS show called. I answered and couldn't stop laughing...I told them how old she was and they said well do you have any relationship issues that you could talk about. I said sure. Then I asked if it was a requirement to fight...cause I could really get into that...and they said no but it never hurts.....lol.....this is true...it really did happen...I was leaving for Las Vegas the next day and so couldn't go to the show. This is a child who was ordering pizza and writing checks for it at the age of ten so I guess I shouldn't be surprised that she had contacted the show.

Sandy, that is HILARIOUS! I'm not sure how I would react if I got a call from them..... fighting on TV might be kinda cool tho.
