The Heat and Weakness.
The Pupper woke me up to go out, this morning and the poor thing almost had to do it on the floor.:o I tried and tried and tried again to push and pull myself to my feet, but my legs wouldn't hold me.
After a few stretches and such, I finally could transfer myself to the scooter. The Pupper was kind enough to wait..:p It must be that the hot weather has weakened me. I am so skerred, that I won't be able to get up, I keep rising, standing a bit and sitting back down.....every 5 minutes or so... It doesn't seem to be getting any easier, though. I have A/C and it is keeping me pretty cool, but it doesn't seem to help the body weakness from the heat. Is anyone else noticing this heat reaction and having this problem. Please tell me I'm not alone and it will, eventually, get better...Thanks..:grouphug: |
That really does stink Sally.:( You are NOT alone. Some summers
the heats effect on my body is worse than others.:confused:Im not sure why. It will definately get better. Im just not sure when:(. YOu are in my thoughts.:hug: |
Sally, the heat is bothering me this year too. Cold has always been my enemy, but after this last attack, it seems heat is as well.
For me, it's not the weakness so much. I am much more fatigued (mentally), have very little motivation, and have difficulty getting up in the morning too. The worst part is the numbness/burning sensations though, once I over-heat. Now, picture this . . . I loaned my van to a friend, for a "week or two", because his family car burned down (electrical fire). That was in the middle of May. My jeep has a few mechanical problems, but I'm not sure if it is just the guages, or if there is really something wrong. I didn't bother to spend too much money on trying to find out, cause I was supposed to be buying a new vehicle this spring. (Can't find what I want . . .:(). I am driving this jeep that overheats, or at least it threatens too every time I get stuck in traffic. The only way to keep the guage from red-lining is to turn the HEAT on full blast, until I can get moving fast enough again to cool the engine. Three times now it's been 80 - 90 degrees outside, my heater is running full on, and I am stuck on some bridge or in road-work. My legs are on fire, I can't feel the gas/brake pedal any more, I am ready to pass out . . . It takes me days to recover. :( Yeah, apparently the heat makes a difference for me too. Cherie |
Your not alone. Even with the ac on the humidity seems to creep in the house. Jim's feet are swollen after only one hour of being up. The humidity is doing a number on him as usual.
 |
I'm sorry dear Sally. The heat has really been bothering me as well. I don't know how much more of this I can take. I'm fine in the mornings, but by the time I walk to my car after work, I am really pushing it to make the last few steps. Think cold, think snow. It will be there soon enough.
|
The heat exacerbates most of my symptoms: fatigue, balance, weakness, tingling, coordination, cog fog, and it makes my digestive system go crazy as well. It kind of microwaves my innards.
|
Yes, I get weakness, too. Especially in my already compromised right arm and hand.
I've noticed my legs have been weaker than normal lately and I'm assuming it's the heat. My A/C has been running nearly all the time lately...I dread getting that electric bill. I was in the grocery store day before yesterday (luckily my son took me) and I don't know what I would have done had I been alone. I nearly collapsed just waiting for him to drive the car up to the sidewalk so he could load the groceries into the trunk. All I had to do was sit in the air conditioned car!! I can remember going grocery shopping, loading and unloading everything, putting it all away and then doing umpteen more things all before lunchtime! Now....just getting up and getting a shower is an exhausting task. It'll get better once this heat subsides. I just keep telling myself this. You'll get better, too. Still, though, it's frightening when it's happening. Hang in there..... |

Thanks Yappy..:) |
Hey Sal~ After the wrath of last Winter, I swore I wouldn't complain about the heat, but I said it back in March. However, yes I am noticing alot of trouble dealing w/the 90 plus degrees/humidity we are having right now.
I was outside for a few minutes yest, and I just about melted. I notice that I stumble more in the heat, which is a major fear for me. Not complaining~~ not complaining~~~ *maybe just a leetle* I keep telling myself that!!!! |
Sally
I so get where you're at, I'm right here :Wave-Hello: too. This summer has been more miserable then I remembered. I so wish to be back in Colo. Ninety degrees and 9% humidity. Ahhh, how refreshing. This sucky 90 deg. and 90% humidity is beyond horrible. I'm going back to sleep.'s |
I also have been feeling more tired and out it it lately. I sort of feel the way I used to when I would take too long of a nap. I would compare it to a hangover feeling; not that I have had one of those in many, many years.:D
|
Wow Sal, from your keyboard to my fingers. Just yesterday and today, we've had some powerful humidity and high temps here (I blame myself for saying how nice it has been). For the first time ever in this wicked journey, I got genuinely afraid of what was happening. I got stuck and literally could not move.
It's maddening when all we want is to get 8" away to point B and can't do it. I do feel for ya' on this one, it doth sucketh. |
Sally, you worry me. I wish I lived closer so I could come and check on you
The heat hasn't bothered me but then again I don't usually notice a problem until I get a heat induced exacerbation  |
(((Sally))) Sending you lots of "cold" vibes.
You're certainly not alone in how you are feeling. I'm right behind you on that one. |
We had a bit of a reprieve today - it was in the upper 80's but the humidity was 33%. Ahhhh.....felt nice when I went out to get the mail a little while ago. I didn't stagger like I normally do.....I know if anyone is watching me they must think I stay in the house and drink all day! :o

I am so sorry the heat is doing this to you. It has to be very scary! I don't have this issue with heat but a few ideas came to mind.
When I lived in good old "warm" Arizona (115 degrees) I had a water bed. It was very cool and kept me cool. Sometimes so much that I had to turn the heater on to warm the water in it. The new beds don't have so much of a wave when you get in and are more stable. In hospitals, they have special beds that cool the bodies of patients that have fevers. I think they contain water that circulates, mabe with some sort of beads? I have not worked in a hospital for years, so those of you who know more, please chime in. Also somewhere recently, someone mentioned using a hot water bottle with cold water to feel cooler in bed. That sounds very short term. Can you tolerate a fan blowing on you at night? Last but not least, I know this sounds different, but I put aluminum foil, shiney side out, on the lower half of my windows that do not face the street. It really helps keep the heat out in addition to closing the drapes and blinds. You usually are so cheery and I am so sorry you are not feeling well. |
Thank you all, so much, for being here for me. It means more than you'll ever know. I love you all..:grouphug:
Even though the weather is still the same...UGH, I feel so much better today.:) I did a few more stretches and got up and moved more, and that seemed to help........or, it was the good vibes from you all. Probably a combo of both.;) A change in attitude helps, too. Instead of succumbing to it, I took charge, with your encouragement, and beat it..:D I do feel stronger, still hot an worn, but the mind is in a better place and I can now deal.:p I hope the weather gets better for all of us......thanks again my friendly fiends..:grouphug: |
oh sally, how i can relate. it's been 95-98 here for a couple of wks.
our humidity is low but still. nothing puts me down faster than being too hot. i get very weak and very tired. i do have a small, narrow cooling collar i got a walmart a few summers ago for under $5.00. boy, you be surprised at how good it works. get the blood in those ol carotids icey cold. the fan with even a water mister is a good idea. and closing drapes to morning sun helps too. is that wittle doggie really yours? what a sweet thing :D what's his name? you could train a little dog like that to go inside. say on a paper in the kitchen. my friend has 2 miniature dacchies and when she leaves them for work they know to do that. i've also seen cooling things you can put on your wrists. it's the pulse points that help the most. even some cool pacs in your groin can help. this time of yr i bet you could find a lot of those things at walmart or target. call ahead to make sure. also, have you considered one of those services where you wear a watch or pendant and you can press it if you need medical help, like when you can't get up. having a plan in place just in case may take some of fear and stress away. sure hope you get some relief. thinking of you. |
Aw Sally, I'm right there with ya. Hope you're feeling better today. This weather is just beyond hot, it's sickening. Looks like we might get a "break" next week with highs in the mid 80's.
You would think by staying in the A/C day and night I wouldn't feel this bad but I can barely stand outside long enough to let the dogs go potty and when I get back inside it's truly an effort to move. Fall, where are you? LOL |
Right there with you Sally. That is why I haven't been posting
to much recently. This summer has gotten to me like no other summer. I don't know if it is because as time goes on our bodies get worse because of the ms plus getting older? We have been having the great big "3 H's" "HOT, HUMID, HAZY" When I go outside even for about 5min. I have trouble breathing also. SAGE just goes out to do her business and comes right in. Usually I can't get her to come in right away, she just wants to play. This past month my sx have been worse. Get up in the morning, about 2 hrs. later I go back to sleep, and I usually go to bed between 9pm and 10pm. can't stay up. Sometimes lately dose off in the chair in the afternoon when watching TV. Like you DM I said when winter ends I will not complain about the heat. HAAAAAAAAAA!!!! I just want "SPRING" like weather. Take care everyone THINK COOOOOL!!! Jappy :grouphug: |
It isn't the heat that gets to me it is the humidity. :(
Our temps hover around 100 or so which is pleasant when it is dry but now we are in our "monsoon season" where we have humidity so when it is even in the 80's here I really wilt! :o We love the normally dry, warm climate and gentle seasons with an inch or two of snow a year but this monsoon is just awful for me. I will be so glad when this is over and we have nice warm dry days! |
Dear sweet Sally,
Do you live alone? If you do, or when you ARE alone, I am sending you helpful ANGELS...to help you up!! So sorry for ALL of you suffering so... Healing blessings be yours... Jan |
As it's winter here and although not actually cold (which is very unusual for this time of the year), the early mornings and evenings are cold enough not to want to go outside for any reason at all!
There's no snow on the ground in Australia unless you live in a mountainous area, but we do get frosts in low lying areas. So far, we haven't even had that where I live, and once again that is unusual for this time of the year.. The reason I've given you that background was to see if any of you want to trade some of your heat, and I'll trade some of our cooler weather, and we can all meet in the middle and have the most fabulous GTG! :D What a great idea that was and I'm glad I thought of it. :icon_idea: Now all I have to do is work out how to merge your temperatures with our temperatures! BTW Sal. We aways have room for one more at our house.......:) |
