More testing
Just saw my neuro today and he wants to be extra sure we are not dealing with anything other than the MS so I'm doing MRIs tomorrow. My pain has increased a little so he upped the Trileptal.
Does anyone ever feel they just don't have time for this crap? That's how I feel right now. My husband has surgery next Thursday for a herniated disc, my son moves into the college dorm Aug. 21st and we haven't even bought some of the stuff he needs  I take and pick-up my DD from work monday thru friday - Im' still her taxi :p Okay, I'm done :D |

I am sure if you ask the doctor to do the MRI after your house has settled down he'd agree to that. What is he thinking is going on? Does he think this is not ms or just checking on your condition, following up, etc.? We've put off MRI's when the family is busy especially if the expected outcome isn't an emergency.
Either way, I hope nothing shows up. |
I'd agree w/Sandy. Unless you're really concerned about something serious going on and the dr feels the MRI is urgently needed, I'd put it off a couple of weeks and take what little amount of stress out of your life that you can.
 |
Hi Snoopy,
You have alot on your plate. If there is no immediate reason to have this done right away, maybe your can wait until your college bound child is all set up and your hubby has had his surgery and is in bed for a while. I had a disc removed and a fusion done last year, so I know your DH will be in la la land and not moving much after his surgery. If you have a real serious issue, by all means get that out of the way first. Best wishes for you both. |
Hi Snoopy,
Boy he scheduled that MRI fast! Usually they at least make me wait a couple of weeks. Hope things work out for you. I understand how you feel - life gets in the way a lot for me too. It's rough sometimes. Hang in there  |
I hope all goes well tomorrow with your MRIs. Let us know how everything goes. Hang in there Snoopy, your doing just fine.
|
Hey Snoops, keep us posted on what's going on....sounds like you're going in 16 different directions! I can lend you my gps if you need directions!!!
Hang in there... I hope your doc gets to the bottom of all this pain you've been going through lately.... |
Snoopy
It may just be the stress of your family obligations looming increasing your pain. I hope the upped Trileptal does bring some relief. I too hate the horrible timing MS has. Just when you think you can't take one more thing on POP there it is, how rude. Also, I'm concerned you doc thinks it maybe something other then MS. Did he say what he was thinking? I hope you just get the testing out of the way. One less thing on your plate. Try and rest as much as you can too.'s |
Hey, just think that will be one more thing out of the way and not hanging over you. And try to sleep the 2+ hours away!
I hope you get some answers. |
Sorry to hear that your house is in a little bit of an upheaval but I'm glad to hear about any doctor wanting to be "extra sure". I hope the MRI went well and look forward to hearing your update. :)
|
Hey LA - how'd the MRI go? I hope you are doing ok. Been thinking about you.
|
What's the word, Snooperous Maximus? Did they find any money in there? Do tell!
|
Yeah....Wazzup Doc??
|
I almost revived the old "Snoopy, welcome to Neurotalk" thread to cheer Snoopy up -- but I resisted. :D
|
I hope your tests turned out ok Snoopy!
|
Thank you everyone :grouphug:
I had the MRI yesterday, 2 1/2 hours without a break...my choice. I won't know anything until probably Tues, Wed, or later. I may not be around...I just don't know. My DHs health has me very concerned. He had some pre-op testing done and one of the tests came back inconclusive so he has been referred to another Doctor, that appointment is Monday afternoon. |
Snoopy, thanks for updating and checking in. My prayers are with you both.
|
snoop,
i hope your mri is fine. and i hope your DH will come thru his surgery with flying colors. could your dd find any other transportation at all? at least temporarily? i will pray that all in your household be well and get well soon. |
Snoopy!
I didn't read all the posts so if someone else said it, I'll just remind you; You can't take care of anything (or anyONE) else without taking care of yourself first.:) |
Well...too much on YOUR plate means another lesson for us as well. Try NOT to go too far into the near future and worryif you can.
First of all, it hasn't happened yet and may not turn out as stressful as you are anticipating. I say this with the utmost respect and kindness. After all, what YOU go through teaches us lessons as well, dont ya think? AND one of them is learning to put yourself first best you can by ASKING FOR HELP!!!! Man we grown folks hate asking for help. i shop online as much as I can, saves me running around and many come with online deals. Doctors sure like to scare folks with their outloud thinking. So your husband and you need to be cared for by others, by US at least. Don't mean to come across "preachy" hardly. AS I said we ALL need to learn lessons and one way is to be shut down, sometimes flat on our backs to listen. May you feel the SPIRIT surround you with love, appreciation for ALL that you do for us, for others. May you only know wonderful, moments of peaceful rest...as your body tries to heal. Same for your hubby. Keep us informed as I know you will. You are brave to handle a 2.5 hour MRI!! HUGS my dear one..:grouphug: Warmly, Jan |
Sorry to hear about your husband! Ouch! I hope everything turns out okay for both of you!!
|
snoop I hope the mri's are helpful and you and your hubby are in debs and my prayers and thoughts,
hang on snoopy  |
wishing good health your way for hubby and you..with the tests and all...hugsssssss I would say stop worrying and keeping so busy...but as a mom of five..and all ....stop worrying is goofy advice cause very hard to do..hugssss,sarah

Again, thank you ALL so very much
Jan, I am very good at NOT asking for help. We had just gotten home from church when I read your post and I started crying. I had a lady approach me at church to let me know she is in charge of supplying meals in cases of surgery, ect. I graciously declined the offer. The food/ingrediants used come from our food bank. We do not want food used from the food bank that others really do need. We can afford to buy our food. One of the concerns/fears I had about my DH is a pre-op test - an EKG. We recieved a call from a Cardiologist office telling my DH they had a cancellantion and could get him in sooner. This was the first we had heard about the need to see a cardiologist. Someone screwed up in how this was handled. Anyway, DH had his appointment with the cardiologist this afternoon - he has been cleared for surgery. :yahoo: His surgery for a herniated disc is being done out patient on Thurs morning. My MRI: No I don't have any information yet. But, I wanted to explain about this MRI and maybe answer some questions in the process. The MRI is NOT looking for signs of MS - we already know I have MS. The MRI was of the Lumbar, Sacral, Plexus. This is about the pelvic and urethral pain I have had for almost a year. My neuro did not say what he is looking for and I didn't ask. He is the same neuro who diagnosed me in 1986 and even then he never mentioned MS during the testing process. So, I will patiently wait until I call him for the results :) |
Hi LA
I hope all goes well with your DH's surgery on Thursday. Wanted to check in with you as I will be out of town and not sure about internet connection. to you and your family with everything that's going on. I hope you get some answers from your neuro about the pain...'bout time. :) |
Keeping You and DH in my thoughts and prayers..
|
snoop. i hope all goes well. it's very common to get ekg's as part of a pre-op exam. so don't feel spooked about that.
i hope you get some answers from your mri and by that time your dh is on the mend. |
Thanks for updating Snoopy. That is great news about your hubby. Now you can shake that off your worry shoulder.

Update
My neuro called Friday. Wouldn't you know it, I had gone to pick up DD from work.
My neuro told DH the MRIs are normal. I am thrilled there isn't something to be concerned about. But, I guess we come full circle back to the MS *sigh* Unless the neuro sees any reason to persue any other testing, stick a fork in me I'm done. It's the MS and I just want meds to keep the pain under control. My husband: he had the surgery which was out patient. They had him up and walking before we brought him home that evening. He is no longer using the crutches but is using one of my canes, his balance is a little off and I think he is not comfortable not using anything even though the day of his surgery he and I were told he can walk without any aid. Thank you again, everyone  |
So glad to hear your husband is doing well!! As for you, I'm not sure what to say! On one hand I guess it's positive that nothing was detected but on the other, I'm sorry to hear that it looks like it's really MS pulling stunts. :(
|
Snoopy, thanks for updating about your hubby. Glad to hear he's on the mend.
I am sorry about the stupid, ignorant, pushy, downright ugly, impossible, good for nothing, pain in the **** MS. Seems you can't get a break these days. I'm keeping you in my thoughts and prayers that things ease up a little. |
Snoopy,
Glad to hear your DH is doing OK and your MRI came out good. Take care of yourself! |
Snoopy
I'm glad it's just MS, I think. I'm so happy to hear DH surgery is done and he is home on the mend already. Continue taking good care of him and yourself. Here's some good vibes to keep the nasty ol' pain away.'s |
ok, now you can take a break?
that was alot to go through. good for you to turn down the food bank food. you rock! hope all is settling down. |
snoop,
i'm glad all has gone well. i hope you will get some relief from your pain. i'm thinking about both of you. |
Snoopy,
Hope that DH is mending well... Sorry your problems stem from MS, but at least it's not something that might be more ominous. Take care of yourself...try to relax. |
As many of you have mentioned:
I am glad my MRIs came out good but.... Is it so wrong to wish for something to show on the MRI that would have been easy to fix and I could have said good bye to pain? :D When it's the MS nothing is easily fixed :ranting: Oh well, that's life with MS :icon_rolleyes: Okay, I'm good. :partytime2: |
I just read this whole thread Snoopy...sheesh! :( I'm sorry you're going through all of this stuff. I hope you and your dh are feeling better. Has your doc prescribed anything for your pain? None of the meds for neuropathic pain help me. I have to take Lorcet three times a day but I'm fine with that because otherwise I wouldn't be able to move. We do what we gotta do. 'sigh' I don't think it's wrong to wish the mri showed something that was fixable :). I've felt the same way at times. 's

Hey Snoopy thanks for the update. I am one who lives with pain every
day and know how you feel:(:hug::hug::hug: |
