I'll say hello here as well! :)
I already said hello on the Multiple Sclerosis specific boards, but I'll chime in here.
I'm new here, but not new to the Internet, or trying to figure out the health issues that riddle me daily. I was dx'ed with MS in March of 2008, so fairly new. I had been suffering with symptoms of neurological nature for 2-3 prior to the MS dx. Day to day, I suffer from various symptoms resulting from MS, however the big one for me is actually burning mouth syndrome. It's one that I hope to be able to control or figure out to a degree. Calming the burning will help immensely in being able to deal with the rest day to day! Other than that, I'm a 31 year old woman from Canada. I have an excellent GP and neurologist, so I am lucky. I shoot Copaxone daily for MS, but I also take Neurontin and Amitriptyline currently for the burning mouth (do not seem to be working). I'm an avid gamer. Gaming is great, takes my mind off the daily aches and pains, and keeps my mind and reaction times busy and working. I also love art, crafting, reading. |

Hi there, it's so lovely to meet you! I also have MS so I'm sure we'll meet up again in the MS Forums at some stage.
I'm pleased you like the graphics because I really do too. If you're interested in how to add your own pretty pictures, go to this thread where some of our more learned people have given instructions on how it's done. http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/thread37625.html Don't forget that thread is still open if you have any questions. |
Hi and welcome to NeuroTalk! There is a large MS community here as I'm sure you discovered on the MS Forum and also at The Stumble Inn.
I'm glad you decided to join us and I look forward to seeing you around the board! |

Hi Dmplaura!
I'm very happy to meet you, but sorry for the reason that you're here. I don't know a lot about MS, but I know it's not a picnic. It seems a little strange to me that they would subscribe Neurontin and Amatriptylene for the burning sensation in your mouth. I took both those drugs for some time for other reasons, and so I researched them both very closely. I never saw it mentioned that they could be used that way. But then again, I'm no doctor. I send you all my best wishes and luck!:)

I wonder if a certain flavor of hard candy would help with the burning??

Welcome to the MS fun times! Every day is a new day is what I say!

I have had MS for many years, but not heard of that one? How awefull, I hope you find an answer and when you do please let us know. When you say gaming, do mean gambling? We are a bit upside down here in OZ. LOL! Since I have been to Vegas, I have become fond of Texas Holdem. Hugs, Jenni |

At low doses, Neurontin and Amitriptyline have in some patients with BMS helped to rid them of the burning entirely. It's not helping in my case it seems! Junie: I chew gum, and that relieves the pain a bit, but you can't have gum or candy in your mouth all day, you know? ;) Ziggy: MMORPGs (Massive Multi player Online Role Playing Games) actually. Online games played with thousands of others. Imagine knights in shining armor, wizards casting spells and you have the type of game I play, and have played for 6 years :) Burning Mouth Syndrome is uncommon in itself, and is even more so if you look at it with Multiple Sclerosis. 2 neuros I saw suspected brain stem lesion caused by the MS to be causing this. I do hope it eventually goes away, or I find relief from the pain of it! |
Sorry, I was trying to help think of a way to help, guess my ideas are not always too bright...one of my flaws, trying to fix things??
