I am not an expert on the causes of pain, but I just wanted to wish you well and offer a prayer, that you find relief soon..((((((((((Sarah))))))))))

Twinkletoes 07-22-2008 08:45 PM

Awwww, poor Sarah. :(

That's just not good at all! You're a young mother and you don't have time for pain. So sorry -- hope you find some relief very soon.

Sounds like spasticity IMO but I'm not a doctor. If it is, go the the National MS Society and type in exercises in their search engine. Print out the pages that were made by therapists to cover joints and muscles. Once you do them a few times it only takes 10 minutes give or take to do them.

As, Ewizabth mentioned, Baclofen is prescribed for spasticity.

Take care.

Jan4you 07-22-2008 09:44 PM

OH my poor Sarah... HUGS~!

What have you tried? And have you seen a Rhuematolgist?? They are amazing at dx.

I take Methocarbamol for spasticity with 3 200mg of ibruprofin and both don't make me drowsy. Sometimes my ankles just lock up and hurt. So I do stretching then break down and take the Methocarbamol/or neurontin with it.

Let us know my sweet one

Sarah,

I'm so sorry you're having such pain! :( When I have pain from spasticity I take Baclofen but it's an everyday treatment for long term. I also take an antidepressant that helps with some pain. I haven't had to take a nerve pain medicine yet.

Maybe try some Advil or something like that to get you through until this passes?:hug::hug:

Feel better soon Sweetie!

tovaxin_lab_rat 07-23-2008 04:16 AM

sarah

Have you talked to a physical therapist about different types of shoes or different ways of doing things at work to help with your wrists? Maybe your doc can refer you to one.

Pain is so difficult to deal with and I am sure that the heat and the environment where you work doesn't help.

yeahbut 07-23-2008 05:28 AM

Sarah - I am so sorry!! I also take Baclofen for the spasticity and I am not dx yet either (as you already know)

I know when I am really bad I take a shower..... it seems to help relax me. Just a suggestion.

Lots and Lots of

Kitty 07-23-2008 06:04 AM

Sarah, I'm having the same thing right now, too. It's mostly in my hands and wrists but it does hurt!! I take Baclofen, too, although it doesn't always work for me. If I take enough for it to cut the pain it makes me very drowsy. Guess if I'm asleep then the pain won't bother me, huh?! I'm sorry you're in pain and I hope it gets better soon!

soxmom 07-23-2008 06:36 AM

Hi sarah.....sorry you are in such pain....pain stinks!!!:(

I think Jan had a great idea.....what about a rheumie???? They will rule
out the fibro diagnosis at least(well, if they think its not fibro) and Ive
heard they are pretty good and you would have another doc saying
this is neurological in origin.

And maybe they can help to figure it out too.

Good luck, I dont know how you are going to do this as I am on my butt
when I get pain like that.:(

:hug::hug::hug::hug::hug:

PJAMES 07-23-2008 06:52 AM

It breaks my heart.......I deal with constant insane pain........I should count my blessings for not having to work.........

..Nothing really works for me.......For me The pain can be lessened a bit but NEVER taken away.........My pain issues are in different locations......

YESTERDAY i had a ok start for the morning...Then all of a sudden...I could not move the pain was so great.........Now this morning It still real bad....But I picked up a side order of a migraine to go..........

I would talk to you Doc...let him know....And let him understand this pain is effecting your life severely...........So much so...It is effecting you going to work and making a living to support you and yours.......
\
I'm so sorry for you...I am.....

if you dont mind i'll be praying for you..

thanks all,
sorry I didnt get back sooner...this didnt ever show up when I go to new posts....wierd...so all of a sudden tonight in my cogfog mind said..wait I thought I started a thread about pain...and had to find it..as it wasnt under new posts...hmmmm

I might have to go in before sept. apt... I will be very upfront to my pcp about the pain, and the numbness that was happening last week...(couldnt feel my legs below me feeling but also the tingling stuff)

and make sure she knows how much it affects my life....as I keep having to cut back on stuff at home to rest enough to try to get back to work....long struggle...

thanks all for the prayers..and support...this place rocks...:winky:

someone gave a neuro dr name to my hubby...someone at his work with MS...that he has talked to a lot about my sxs....and they were surprised nothing so far is figured out.....

I might get referral to see him...neuro number 4 it would be..hehe

the rheumy idea would be good...although back when my pcp said..the fibro idea wasnt right...and that she really thinks neurological...but hey maybe I should see a rheumy too....as someone here said....

Pjames...yes my life is busy....work full time days, hubby works nights....we have five children....so life is busy...just wish I could enjoy the home time better...and not always be trying to get better enough to not struggle at work....that part gets to me...

hugsss and thanks all, sarah

sabimax 07-23-2008 09:08 PM

Pjames, did I already tell you we used to live in Shrewsbury, MA...hubby is from Waltham, MA....I moved out there to Norfolk, MA to be a nanny when 18....met hubby and lived out there for long time...we have lived in framingham, shrewsbury, then waltham before moving back to MI....hugssss,sarah...we both miss Taxachusetts sometimes....:D

That's just awful, Sarah!

DO call the doc tomorrow. There's not a special bonus prize for enduring pain. Get rid of it ASAP!

Tender hugs to you.

sabimax 07-24-2008 10:04 AM

thanks for the hugssssss
Kaola that pic is sooo cute....

twinkle..you bring the forks I will order the cake...hehehee mmmm chocolate...

well fell asleep about 330am....I think

sore today, even more in back, shoulders everywhere kindof....

glad I am off...but to ruin a day off hehehehe

I was suppose to go golfing with hubby...I was in tears last night, when he crawled into bed after his work...3ish am.....telling him...I cant golf due to protecting my wrists.....:(

I hate this stuff....I hate babying my body to still try to get to work....

anyhow, I called dr...my dr is on vacation till the 5th of August....
the first nurse said, (she didnt know dr was on vacation..as not my dr nurse) that she would put a note on the desk about meds...she seen that we have talked about trying neurontin in past...but was preggo...

then she transfered me to my dr nurse....at first she said dr on vacation...and the first to be seeen by anyone there is with her assistant...next friday...I took it and ew hung up....

hubby was like what about the pain till then...Sarah....

so I called back, realizing the dr wont see that note for long time..about meds....asked for my dr nurse...and mentioned what the other nurse was leaving note on...she said if in that much pain..I could go to ER first...but she also will check with assistant to get an ok on trying neurontin right away...

so got a call back and that is what they prescribed me...anyone taking this..and having any help from it.??? gaining weight??? is the weight gain only due to feeling hungry more..and so if still control how much eating wont gain.....this shouldnt be my first concern..but I am already pudgy and could lose some weight..dont want to gain...

anyhow, I have tried lyrica, and that didnt help the tingling pain or any sxs....hoping for better luck with neurontin...

is neurontin like lyrica...where if not buidling up to an amount you may feel woohooo on..it...I dont like feeling out of it....

what a baby huh...hehehehe

So I see a physicians assistant friday the 1st...day after bday...then I see my pcp sept 25th...she is so booked they tried and couldnt move that up either......anyhow that is where I am thanks all so very much...

for the hugsss
for the support..
for the love...and info....
I luv you all so much, you are truely the ppl who understand best....
love and hugssss,sarah:)

PJAMES 07-24-2008 12:06 PM

Ya know..I think I remember you telling me you lived in Shrewsbury.....I think.....Pretty hard to remember anything when you double your cog fog!!!!

I did the Neurontin.......Then hit the wall...with side effects some kinda severe....But I got up to 600 3x a day......

From what I hear I am in the minority....It is a great medicine that many swear by.......

good luck..
P

sabimax 07-24-2008 01:08 PM

Well P...I am back, picked up the meds....and it was 300mg to take three times a day...but only 30 in there...that would only be 10days...but then I see the physicians assistant anyhow before the 10days would be up.

I talked to the pharmasist about if maybe taking it one a day for couple days and build up in case of loopy side effects, she siad I shouldnt have too much loopy side effect...(hmmmmmm;)) but that if more comfy I could build up like that....so havent decided, I took one, and going to take a short nappy..hugss,sarah

sabimax 07-24-2008 01:09 PM

oh then I will see her next friday, hoping this helps the nerve pain...and hoping that the pain in wrist gets better with me babying it...we will see....hugsss,sarah

barb02 07-24-2008 01:41 PM

Hey Sarah, they usually tell you to slowly increase the dosage. When I started on it, I took 300 mg at bedtime for 5 nights, then added another 300 for five mornings, and then added another 300 in midafternoons. I now take 600mg three times per day, but I also slowly increased to that level. Neurontin is generally used for nerve pain; burning and tingling.

sabimax 07-24-2008 03:00 PM

Barb, thinking of that, the pharmacist when I asked said no need to..but that If I feel a concern with feeling loopy to increase every few days..starting with one a day...

I took one at 2pm...havent felt funny so far..haha...but anyhow..might either stick to one for few days...or try one more tonight..then do two tomorrow also....then go few days at 2,, then increase to the three in few days...

Anyhow, just hate loopy feeling...so even though pharmacist said I wouldnt feel that way....hmmm I think I might...

thanks for the info...I am drinking lots of water, and making sure I do have protein in my day...someone mentioned the idea of those two helping them be less loopy with this kind of med....cogfog...to whom mentioned it sorry....

but all the ideas are so appreciated....hoping to not gain weight lol..hugsss,sarah
