OMG!! It's supposed to be 105 degrees today!!!

I cant confirm how hot it is outside here. It's 3pm and I have yet to go outside yet.

I bought some pre-made cookie dough last night (Chocolate chip!)

I wonder if I put it on a tray, and took it outside, would it bake evenly and give me tasty cookies? My car is black, maybe if I park the car in the driveway, I could bake me some cookies there?

I can tell the heat outside is affecting the air conditioning. It's warm upstairs, and it's not quite as cool in my basement as it usually is. I hope that's not a sign of impending air conditioning doom!

weegot5kiz 07-28-2008 03:09 PM

stay in and stay cool, no need to make things worse...

Blessings2You 07-28-2008 03:19 PM

I don't know where you are, but remind me not to go there...

Erin524 07-28-2008 03:22 PM

I'm starving to death, and all the food I can find in the house tastes better when cooked in the oven. I may have to venture out to the McD's and get myself and my mom something completely bad for us to eat. (but, we'll enjoy it...it's always tasty when it's bad for you)

I'm just trying to avoid going anywhere, because I havent washed my hair yet, and I'm just too lazy to get dressed today.

I might have to take advantage of our walk-in bathtub later. Fill it up with cool water, and turn the jacuzzi jets on and play with the rubber ducky. :D

We stocked up on ice cream yesterday. I have Peach Pie ice cream, and bananna split, and chocolate, and cherry chocolate chip. I'll be cool later.

I wish I'd stocked up on popsicles...cherry flavored. Oh, good, my dad is home, maybe we can get him to go back out into the hot weather to buy the popsicles!

AfterMyNap 07-28-2008 03:35 PM

It's les mis here too, I say definitely bake on the car! Make an omelette while you're at it!

dmplaura 07-28-2008 04:17 PM

Cold bath, lots of water, sit right in front of the AC (if it's a unit) out of sight of sunlight sources.

And enjoy the cookies! :) :) :)

Taffy 07-28-2008 04:20 PM

Holy fried eggs!

(It's only 75 here! Aw!.....)

SandyC 07-28-2008 05:34 PM

Can someone smack Taffy because I don't want to stick to her. :p

IT"S HOT here too but not as hot as your are Erin! :yikes:

Blessings2You 07-28-2008 05:53 PM

I think the hottest I've ever been in my life was when I lived in Boston back in 1968, the third floor apartment on Beacon Hill.

I would pull out the sofa bed, point the fan at the mattress, turn off all the lights except in the bathroom, and get in the shower, with the water turned down as cool as I could stand it.

Then I'd turn off the shower, flip off the bathroom light and leap onto the mattress soaking wet, hoping to fall asleep before I evaporated.

I'm in Omaha, Nebraska. (also known as the Flaming Surface of the Sun!!)

It's currently around 90 degrees right now. (depending on which news station you believe)

The state of Nebraska issued a high heat index warning. So, I guess if it's actually 90 degrees, then the heat index says that it "feels like..." 95 degrees.

Since it's the state that's saying it would be 105 degrees, I'm guessing that depends on where you are in Nebraska right now. I just checked all the news stations to see how hot it is (in actual temperature) and they all pretty much agree it's in the 89 degree to 92 degrees range. Their heat indexes are all saying it's just under 100 degrees in the "feels like..." temperatures.

Still, if it's over 90 degrees outside, there's no way I'm going outside unless I'm wearing a personal air conditioner suit and about 10 layers of sunscreen.

It's just waaaaay too hot for me.

I just closed off the a/c vents in my dad's office in the basement. Hoping that it'll help the upstairs to cool off if I get more air pressure going thru the duct work. My dad's office has no windows, and we keep the door open, so it should stay cool. (plus, it has a ceiling fan)

I have all the ceiling fans spinning upstairs...trying to keep the air moving. Also closed all the blinds on the side of the house the sun is on now. Made my mom mad that she cant just look out the window from the other side of the room, but why let all that hot sunlight into the room?

Curious 07-28-2008 06:15 PM

ahhh...so you are getting some of our texas heat? about 104-5 here too.

be sure your ceiling fans are switched so they draw the air up from the floor. you don't want it pushing the warmer ceiling air down.

stay hydrated.

Taffy 07-28-2008 06:16 PM

When I got up this morn...there was dew on everything..that's right...everything was wet. Nope...not from rain...dew! It was chilly. Had to put on a sweatshirt.

(Taffy....asking to get slapped alright!):D

Curious 07-28-2008 06:23 PM

when it's 70 here in december i'll bring this thread back up. :p

doydie 07-28-2008 10:02 PM

I have my phototherapy session tomorrow for psoriasis. I have to wear long sleeves everytime I go outside. And the heat of the therapy just drains me. I hope I can get a close parking space. I may never get to my car. I have an auto start on my car so its nice and cool when I get to it.

It's the middle of the day here in wintery Oz, and around 50F.

It'll only be about 37F when I get moving in the morning. http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...leycentral.gif

Thank goodness we have good home heating.:)

I've been in Texas heat. The Texas heat that I've been in that was 100 degrees (actual temperature) was a heck of a lot more comfortable than the nasty, makes your skin crawl with icky sweat Nebraska heat we have up here. You know, Texas heat is a "dry heat".. :) (I LOVED San Antonio weather the last time I was there, as long as there were trees nearby and a house with air conditioning even closer)

My dad got home from working out this afternoon, after I'd re-routed the a/c from his basement office so that more cold air would shoot upstairs, and with the ceiling fans on. My dad said it was really comfortable upstairs, better than it was when he left to work out. (and it's still freezing in his office)

My dad was surprised that I'd used the oven to cook a frozen pizza while he was gone. Usually that heats up the kitchen pretty bad. I may have him convinced to spend the few cents or quarters it takes to run the ceiling fans to help the a/c work better.

Oooo!! Can I come visit? I'm crocheting an afghan and I need to test it to make sure it's warm enough for this winter. :) and I have a bunch of scarves I knitted earlier this summer that I need to make sure will work too.

hjmom 07-29-2008 12:45 AM

I've been lucky enough to have to go to Las Vegas this week for work where it's above 100 also! Everyone else who is also here with me can't believe that I'm not out on the strip sight seeing. I told them I'm going to the sessions that I need to attend and then 'chillin out' in my hotel room. It's too hot to be outside here - but it's almost this hot back home in Louisiana also.

Ummmmm......

Wet bulb is 78 degrees here in Houston right now. Dry bulb started out at 78 degrees but it's climbing. Supposed to hit upper 90's again today.

That, in a word, is humid!

Hey - I spent some time in NE last week. I really liked the Chadron area. And Scottsbluff.

It's in the upper 90's here in GA this week. I don't think my A/C kicked off once yesterday....ran the whole bloomin' day. I dread that electric bill but I can't help it.

My boys worked in the yard Sunday - trimming hedges, cutting grass, edging, etc. It was 98 that day. I think they went through a whole flat of bottled water in about two hours!

We got horrible thunderstorms through here last night about 3 AM. A large sign was completely bent over the roof of a gas station not too far up the road - and the lightning was severe. It looked like someone had turned on my bedroom light when it woke me up. We're due for more storms today, too. I always pray that the electricity doesn't go out!

Curious 07-29-2008 10:37 AM

LOL tom, i was just going to post that tom and i can tell you about texas humidity. :p

mine and lil'monkey's curly hair are clear signs of our humidity. :D

we hit 105 yesterday. that wasn't including the heat index. the kids went swimming for awhile. i had a client to train, but we went no where in the car. i wish that was the case today. blech, i have to take lil'monkey to work at 4pm.

it might sound too warm for most, but i keep the AC no less than 80. the kids and i are used to it. mini blinds and insulatedx curtains help wonders too. we also don't keep anything plugged in when not in use.

:D

Right now, it's only about 82 degrees outside. The dew point is 70 degrees, and the humidity is 71%. It's pretty juicy outside right now. (I'm staying inside today!!!)

This morning, when I had really bad insomnia and was still awake at 6am. I was chatting with my dad before he went to work. Noticed our little weather station clock said that the humidity was 88%!!!

My dad went outside to get the newspapers, and came back inside. He said the air was very heavy feeling to him, and that he's glad he's going to be in an air conditioned hospital all day (he's a nurse anesthetist, works in surgery)

I'm staying inside as much as I can today. With dew points and humidity as high as they are, I dont want to have to grow gills to be able to breathe the air.

Erin524 07-29-2008 12:38 PM

We're having one heck of a thunderstorm right now.

Which, really is not surprising, seeing how high the dew point and humidity was earlier...plus the heat.

I wonder if we're going to be having a tornado soon now? I wouldnt be surprised, the way the weather has been treating us lately.

Maybe the storm will cool things down...hopefully.

AZjanie 07-29-2008 02:15 PM

Heat and humidity; yikes!

Here is Arizona it is a dry heat and you don't perspire as the sweat just evaporates right off!!

We don't need food dehydrators as we just put things out on the patio table and in a few seconds it is done!
:D

jprinz99 07-30-2008 08:13 PM

I just want to know what is wrong with eating the raw cookie dough????

Debbie D 07-30-2008 10:37 PM

It's in the low 90s out here in the western suburbs of Chicago...I don't think I've ever had such trouble with the heat as I have this year. I sweat (it pours) as soon as I go outside, and after a time, I feel so weak and out of it I have to go inside. I feel like such a wimp...

I like it when it's in the low to mid 80s...this heat and humidity stinks.

There is raw egg in raw cookie dough. There's a possibility that you can get salmonella from eating raw egg.
