Neuro Appointment Today

Today I have my followup appointment since my last flareup. Since I lost my job I lost my health insurance also. I called this morning to see how much it was going to cost and they told me since it was a followup visit it would be under $85. They told me to come and they would set up a payment schedule and I wouldn't have to pay anything for a month if I had to. The said they would rather see me and not have me pay then go without the appointment. I was impressed to say the least.

I am glad for I wanted to be able let him know what is going on. Not a good time to actually get a dx but I should have insurance by the first of next month. I am just waiting for a call back from my agent.

Good luck, Char. You know, you can negotiate your fee with the doctor's office....you might have to prove you have no income but generally they will work with you.

I'm glad they wanted you to keep the appointment. Please let us know how it went.

Have you applied for unemployment yet?

Just got home a few minuts ago.... I had to wait 1/2 hour - I have never had to do, he is usually right on time. Oh well!

it was actually good cause I got cold.... and those of you who know me know that cold is not good for me. The AC was freezing and by the time I got to see him my right side was a mess! He laughed and did his neuro exam before we talked. He could feel the spasms in my right arm for they were so intense at the time. He then went and got me a blanket to warm up with. After we talked and I warmed up he then felt the same spot on my arm and the spasms had calmed down.

Now, remember me telling you I lost my health insurance? Well, today he wants to talk about putting me on medication!!! I then explained to him I don't have health insurance but it should all be in place by Sept 1st. He uses Avonex (is that how you spell it??) But, said we will talk about other options when I get the health insurance.

Thanks Everyone!

Glad your appt. went well Char. I know that isn't news anybody wants to hear, but it takes away some of the unknowns I suppose. :( Anyway, I hope your insurance will be in place soon and you can start treatment.:hug::hug:

Char
Glad you have a good doc and you now are one of us officially.

We always knew you were. :D

This will give you time to get the medication situation lined up and ready to go next month.

Hope you are feeling better then at the doc office.

You are fortunate to have such a compassionate doctor! Glad your appt. went well, and your doctor has a plan.

I spoke with my insurance company yesterday - I should be able to have insurance all set up by Sept. 1st. He is suppose to call me back today to make sure everything went through ok.

AfterMyNap 08-05-2008 07:58 AM

Yay! Good for you, my little lambchop, one day at a time.

Girlie Girl 08-05-2008 08:14 AM

Good for you Char! I'm so sorry that you are having to go through all of this. If you have questions about Avonex just let me know. I was on it for 2years.

Hugs!!!!

SandyC 08-05-2008 10:46 AM

Char, remember if your insurance gives you a hard time about Avonex, the company has a program for coverage of the med. Becky21 was on it and got her meds from them through the program. If that happens you could ask her about it.

yeahbut 08-05-2008 08:11 PM

I noticed on his shelf in the waiting area with all the "help information" the only MS drug info he had was Avonex.....
