Who pushed the forward button?

What happened and why didn't I see it coming?

How long ago was it, that I was helping my DD learn her new cheers for basketball?

Did I really play softball at our family reunions?

Was that ME sitting on those rock hard bleachers cheering my children on in sports? It looked like me.

My calendar used to boast dinners out w/friends and movies. Who wrote all those Dr's appts in there????

Didn't I use to get up at the crack of dawn and finally make it back to bed at 1am?? I can't remember!!! :Scratch-Head:

When was the last time that I cleaned my whole house in one day. Seems like it takes me a week now.

Do I really need to rest in the middle of the afternoon? Didn't my kids' used to take naps while I did household chores and prepared dinner??

Pills?? Why so many? They remind me of my grandparent's and their "medication" rituals.

Why can't I just accept all the changes? Is it ME? Heck, I'm only 53. These are my GOLDEN YEARS, right????

Where did I go???

Anyone else feel like someone pushed their " Fast Forward Button" too?

SallyC 09-10-2008 12:24 PM

Mine is more like a slow-mo, rewind/replay button.. :D

SandyC 09-10-2008 12:28 PM

I don't know DM but someone pushed mine too. I may not have ms but I can relate so much. My calender is filled with Dr names and times and appointments. What happened to rejoycing for the weekend? What happened to HUMP day where we only had two more days until freedom? What happened to being able to clean the entire house in one day flat? What happened to being able to have a drink or two or three and not be afraid you'll be drunk? What happened to...?

sabimax 09-10-2008 12:32 PM

DM at age 38...although I work full time..and five kids...yes calendar is WAY TOO FULL....but when I want to do things..like take a long walk with the babies in the stroller...wow home now and sooo warn out..more than I should be for my age:( suppose to go golfing tonight at 6ish with hubby....I am going no matter what...

cause I am tired of at my age, having to not have fun just to save my energy for work...uggggg I fight with this all the time....wish we could afford me at part time...but we cant at all...cant keep up with both of us full time...ugggg

sorry...wow vented ...

anyhow I hear ya, sometimes I feel like a whole different person..not dxed even...but sometimes I miss the old me..and my hubby who is so understanding and loving...I bet misses the old me as well...

sabimax 09-10-2008 12:42 PM

lmao Earl...hehehehee :D glad you beat her at it..hehehee hugss all, sarah

Kitty 09-10-2008 01:13 PM

I know what you mean, DM. Sometimes it feels like I'm on "fast forward".

I don't remember time going so quickly (or seeming to go so quickly) when I was a child. It seemed like to took forever for Christmas to get here. And birthdays.....seemed like a year was just an eternity. Now.....I blink and I'm another year older. Or it's Christmas again.

How does that happen??

weegot5kiz 09-10-2008 01:23 PM

Earl i will go further and say a smack will be involved too:grin:

Aw DM:hug: I know what you mean it sucks, and its scary too at same time, hang in there dont let it get the best of you cause, the best of you is something we all enjoy:hug:

AfterMyNap 09-10-2008 01:36 PM

Gee, DM, I know just how you feel.

DM 09-10-2008 01:43 PM

Sorry to say that it helps knowing I'm not the only one to feel like this. I know what you mean, Kell~ the holidays are just around the corner AGAIN!

And as Sandy said~ I used to pray the weekend would get here; now it's like OH, where did the week go???

I used to pick apart the old me all the time. Did my hair look good? Was I gaining weight? Is THAT a gray hair?? It can't be!!!!

Now, it's "how many saturated fats are in this dish? Do I take this pill w/ or without food???

I'd push the pause button on the remote, but I forget where I put it.

soxmom 09-10-2008 01:47 PM

now, I wouldn't say that, soxy mama...you know the ONLY reason why nappy didn't smack IS cause Earl and Frank predicted it would've happen...and nappy just wanted to prove them wrong and had already smacked DM via PM...(insert smiley here)

I mean...it's too transparent...;)

AfterMyNap 09-10-2008 02:18 PM

That'll get her; she hates anyone to touch her precious MAC!!!

*spitting on fingers and using AMN'S keyboard* hahahahahaha :D:D:D:D

DM 09-10-2008 06:37 PM

Well, back to the original topic~ ahem~~ It is good to know that I am not the only one who feels lost at times and misses the "good ole days". Didn't think they were so good all the time, but I'd sure make a trade now if I could.

Thanks for the responses. It helps. Even w/all the goofing around I do, I still feel the pain of change. Who said "change" is good???

lady_express_44 09-10-2008 06:57 PM

It's all in how you look at it . . .

According to the World Resources Institute, average life expectancy has grown in N America, from 50 yrs old to 70+ yrs . . . just since the 1950's.

So when we were born, people our age were either considered very old or dead.

I think I'm doing pretty good, compared to any generation before me.

SandyC 09-10-2008 07:41 PM

Oh Cherie, go on and tell us how good we have it. LOL I am telling you now, if I live to be 80+ and confined to some cormer in a nursing home, kill me. :p

Seriously, I am grateful for all I have gone thru but time does seem to be going too fast. I haven't finished loving and learning yet. I feel like I am in a timed exam and I don't usually do well with those.

DM 09-10-2008 07:43 PM

Did I ever tell you Cherie, that I think it's outstanding the way you are like a freakin World Book Encyclopedia? You are always looking something up for someone around here and I think it's so cool of you to do that.

So.... 70 is the new 50? 40???

I'll take it! Thanks Cherie.... You rock!

I still say Where did all those crow's feet come from????? *grin*

weegot5kiz 09-10-2008 07:57 PM

you are right about Cherie, DM, she is a wealth of information, and always trying to help others

NurseNancy 09-10-2008 10:01 PM

i'm with you DM.
i saw someone walking fast in the grocery parking lot one day as i was pulling into my handicapped parking space.

i think i walk slower than my poor dad did.
never thought "that" would be me. and i'm only 59. :(

DM 09-11-2008 08:48 AM

I understand Judy~ My dear Mother was 79 and could run circles around me.

Hard to understand how fast things can change. Or have they really changed that fast??

It's like one day ''it'' kind of slaps ya in the face.

Hey, I got out of bed this morning and that's a GOOD thing. (Did I sound like Martha Stewart????)

My prior post had more to do with my 'stinkin' attitude' then it did my researching ability . . . but thanks just the same. :p

Well, I only met dm's mom once and she wasn't feeling well, but she was definitely a whipper-snapper. However, I must contradict dm's claim that she has no energy. I call her "hummingbird" for a reason! The woman can move faster and more than any human should, and does it all within 5 sq. feet. If this is her slow, low-energy mode, I would have feared her at full speed ahead. As it is, I suspected a long time ago that speed was involved!

...and boy oh boy can she talk!...the woman talks faster than anyone I ever met! I was fascinated by the little thang! She was JUST like a hummingbird too! Hands moving every which way, feet moving the whole time! She's a ball of energy! I wanted to bottle her and take her home!

(we're lucky she didn't fall out the window! She'd have flown away!) :p
