Got Gas???
My son just came home and said that all the gas stations he passed were out of gas....had those yellow bags over the pumps and the prices were taken down.
Is this happening anywhere else? I didn't watch the Noon news so I didn't get to hear about any other areas this happening in. Gosh, I hope it resolves itself quickly. Oh, and he said he paid over $5 a gallon for mid-grade gas last night (his car uses the high grade stuff but they were out of it). I'm sorta glad I don't drive much anymore....:o |
Someone told me yesterday that in WI, near by the gas was up to $6. a gallon...but I called someone I know there and it wasnt....but ppl were like quick it is going up..and spazzing out....
It didnt go up..I just got it for 3.94 but today now it is 4.14 so maybe creeping.....hugss,sarah |
I heard a bit on the news today, not sure if I have it correctly, but they are saying there may be a gas shortage because of Ike. President Bush said he just wants to make sure the people won't get ripped off over this.
|
filled up yesterday (southern Wisconsin) for $3.82/gallon ... don't need gas for another week or so ...
heard that gas may jump 50c within minutes ... but, they better not be price-gouging ... or look out! guess, we'll have to get out the chain oil and lube up our bikes! |
I filled up before it went up but can't tell you how much it is since Jim and I haven't been out since Friday. My sister said it was up to $5 in Huntsville and people were complaining about price gouging.
|
Our Governor has issued some sort of statement or something warning against price gouging. I think the store owners could face jail time or a fine or both. I need to familiarize myself on it.
I put $20 worth in Kevin's truck yesterday and it put it up to 1/4 tank...it was $4.29/gal then. Since Kevin drives my car back and forth to work I use the truck every now and then just to run to the store or pharmacy. Both are within a mile of the house so I feel safe doing that. Anything else and I'd be worried. I do hope it evens out and doesn't get back to where it was not too long ago..... |
Well I guess we are on the bottem of the price list, average 3.65. Although is expected to raise around 4.00 by the end of the week.
Darlene:hug: |
We got gas alright..:)
It did go up quite a bit (I thought), but nowhere near "gouging" territory. Friday morning it was 3.38, by afternoon 3.48. Yesterday it was 3.59..Who know's where it's at today..?? |

A friend who owns 3 stations in rural Mississippi, can't get any gas delivered until this week sometime and was told by his distributor that his cost would be $5.80 a gal. He told them he wouldn't buy at that price because if the price dropped the next week, he couldn't compete with stores that move more volume... when they would have lower prices the next week. |
went up around here anywhere from 25-30 cents, i found one station that had not changed over yet and tossed 50 in :Bang-Head:, that should keep me going for a while, paid 4.23 a gallon
|
you guys are lucky..up here way up here....now up to $4.19 and climbing I heard hugsss, sarah
|
Went to BJ's and filled up the van, the car and both gas cans. We paid $3.89 per gallon (usual price for here). There wasn't many cars this morning, wonder how it'll be tomorrow. I hope this will pass quickly and hopefully we won't feel the effect up here, but who knows.
|
gosh, I shouldn't say anything ... but .... last night it was still $3.82 ... will see if it's changed later today!
|
Are the gas stations just sort of boycotting the price hikes down there? In the hurricane footage, I saw at least three different gas stations with their lots empty and no prices on their signs. I thought it was just the high winds forcing them to take them down.
It sure would be great if we could mobilize a united, national front on the gas thing. Even a national law of no-driving-period days once or twice a year would send a pretty powerful statement. Sure, it would be inconvenient for a lot of us, but, ultimately, it would be a tremendous show of market power. |
yeah what ever happen to boycotting, i cant think of a better day to do a boycott of buying gas then election day send two messages that day vote and avoid gas stations
|
Um, what's going on here? I stopped at an Exxon station on the way in to work this morning to fill up. $3.69 a gallon. No lines, but it was 5:30 in the morning. I'd say maybe a fourth of the stations around here have power. The station I went to is very close to the entrance to the Johnson Space Center, which had power restored real quick.
I have no idea how much it was Saturday-Monday. Gas wasn't available the first few days. I'm a little disappointed. It was $3.40/gal last week... On a side note - the space center will re-open next Monday. I better get comp time for being on this stupid damage assessment team! Tom |

Gas here is anywhere from $3.99/gal to $4.19/gal for regular. I don't look at any other prices but my son tells me that premium is $4.69/gal as of yesterday. |
I thought for sure that the prices would go up, but they haven't in my area. I paid 3.15 yesterday (I had .50 off from using my grocery store card) It is usually 3.65 for reg.

I know it makes no difference if I did it at 50 cents twice as often but Im brain damaged so it works for me.:D no price changes here either.:) yet:rolleyes: |

...well, last week ... 3.82/gal ... yesterday 3.99 ... and today ... 3.89/gallon
when will it end? |
OK ya'll.....we're in a crisis here. There is NO GAS to be found!! All the stations are empty, people are getting irritated and fighting and people are running out of gas all over the city.
The governor keeps saying "five days"....we'll have gas in five days. But that was 16 days ago and it's gotten worse not better. Gas is around 4.10 a gallon for regular.....but nobody has any. And forget about premium gas. Matt hasn't been able to put gas in his car in over a week! People are wondering how they'll get to work on Monday. Motorists are following tanker trucks in the hopes that they will be able to get at least 1/2 a tank of gas wherever they stop to replenish the supply at various locations. It's bad.................:( http://www.myfoxatlanta.com/myfox/pa...Y&pageId=1.1.1 |
Kelly, my ex drove thru Georgia last night on his way to SC, he was on I21 I think it is he started looking for gas at exit 80 and finally found some at exit 115. The people went ahead and let him fill up but told the people behind him only 25 bucks worth each because they were almost out! And he paid $4.00 a gallon.
It really pississizles me off and I don't mean to go political but why can we not accept help from Hugo Chavez? Becuase his country isn't a democracy? We've been dependent on middle eastern oil forever and are all of their countries democratic? My gas tank doesn't care where the oil came from!!! |
your making me want to fill up today...as way up here in the north....gas is %3.69....
sorry for the trouble around there for gas...good luck for your family and all in area that need to travel.....wow surprises me that an area can be out...actually makes me more surprised that gas stations havent raised it...with the excuse that some areas are out for days......ugggg hugss, sarah |
kelly ... i hope you all find gas soon ...
i don't know what to say ... are there any small out of the way towns near you? these towns usually have a small gas station and alot of people wont think to try for gas there ... i wish you luck |
Well, both my car and Kevin's truck has 1/2 tank each. I won't be going anywhere and Kevin will just be driving back and forth to work (about 12 miles each way). We did alot of driving today getting my sister to her hotel in downtown Atlanta. There's not a station in our city that has any gas. And there are people parked at the pumps of the empty stations just waiting for the tanker trucks to show up - but there is no promise that any will arrive in the next few days. When we were in downtown Atlanta there was a Chevron station where the line was wrapped around the block and people were out of their cars in the street just standing and talking.
I'm waiting for the Governor to issue a school holiday. It's really scary..... |
Well, we finally found some. I called a Quik Trip and the person answering the phone said they had just gotten a few thousand gallons. He couldn't promise that they'd still have any when we arrived but it wasn't far so Kevin and I hopped in the car and went. Got to fill up the Honda!!
I feel soooooo much better just knowing that we can stretch that for at two weeks. Kevin drives 12 miles each way to work and that will be the only driving we do. The truck has 1/2 tank but that will be reserved for emergencies. OMG...I just thought of something. What in the world will Domino's and Pizza Hut do about pizza delivery? Forget about the election stuff......this crisis is serious!! |
