Expertise needed
Hi Everyone. I have a huge favor to ask!!!
I have been wanting to learn this for a long time. I have tried every which way possible (in my book) and I still don't get it. I get flustered and end up rolling it end over end in a nice little ball. I may need clear visual step by step instructions.:( How does one fold a fitted sheet? |
Beth - I HATE folding fitted sheets. There are sites on the web that have articles as well as video's on how to do this.
http://www.realsimple.com/realsimple...0166-1,00.html http://www.metacafe.com/watch/384148...uared_corners/ I still struggle with it. Now that they have put elastic around the whole border of the sheet, it makes it even more difficult to fold. Many times, I strip the beds, wash the sheets, and just put them back on the bed instead of having to fold.:D Yeah, I shorty cut. LOL I also "package" my sheets when I fold them. I put the fitted sheet and matching pillow cases in the last "fold" of my top sheet. Then everything is put together and we just pull out the "package" when changing our sheets. |
That is too funny, Bethie~ I just looked and mine are in a neat lil ball in the linen closet. Mostly though, I do like Trish and wash the sheets and put them right back on.
My Mother could fold a set of sheets and make them look like they just came from the store. One talent I did NOT inherit. |
I can make them appear to be folded on the outside, but inside they're really kinda wadded up.
Good enough for who's coming, as we say here. :D Now if you can tell me, how do ya iron without ironing in more wrinkles than ya iron out, I'll give you a cookie. |
My mom has always and still does Iron her sheets.:p:p She will not put wrinkled sheets on the bed. She cracks me up
*she still irons my dad's hankies and boxer shorts too* |

Yes, my fitted sheets may look ok on the outside but like Brain, they are a wrinkle wadded mess on the inside. Once they are on the bed a bit, the wrinkles are gone. Beside does it really matter? Who sees the bottom sheet anyhow. LOL |
BTW - Bannet, maybe I can work something out with your mom. Would she like to come here in the winter? Maybe do some ironing and sheet folding in exchange for rent? LOL Does she cook well too? Hmmmm. Now I'm thinking . . . :D

Ditty bags, baby!
|
To be fair, I wouldn't have the foggiest clue how to fold one myself.
|
I am with Trish - wash them and put them right back on the bed!

roll it in a ball

A Ditty Bag is "rolling it in a ball:confused::confused:
|
I just stuff the fitted sheet, the flat sheet and the extra pillowcase in the other pillowcase and toss them in the closet! That way they are all together and I don't have to pretend I care...:p

My MIL irons her sheets and pillow cases. That's crazy! LOL I take the corners and fold them in, then grab the edges and fold the sheet in half and then half again. If that fails I crumble the stupid thing and fold the outside for looks. lol

Am I weird for doing this. |

I was reading all these posts with a happy face, enjoying every word, all ready to post my comment...and Kelly posted it. Rats.
|
Well I guess the votes are really in and I now realize no one here knows how to fold a fitted sheet:D
I am Just Shocked:eek: I do like the idea of stuffing everything in a pillow case. *I still want to learn how to fold a fitted sheet*:thud: |
OK Beth - Here you go . . .
Here's How: 1. Slip your hand into 2 top corners of the sheet. 2. With one hand inside each of the top 2 corners, fold the sheet (right sides together). Slip each of the top corners into one of the bottom corners. 3. Lay sheet on bed or table. Arrange and fold the corners neatly. Turn in selvage edges enough to make 4 straight sides. 4. Fold in half, then in half again. (All four corners will be stacked together, and sheet will be in a long strip. 5. Then fold the long strip in half, then in half (or thirds, depending on the size of the sheet) again to make a square. 6. Sheet should be a compact, neat square. 7. Smooth and place on shelf. Tips: 1. Learn how to fold sheets consistently so that they remain neat each time. 2. Store sheets in sets (flat, fitted, and cases) if that is how you use them. 3. Mark shelves with sheet sizes, or use different shelves for different size sheets. 4. For patterned sheets, by folding the bottom sheet inside out and the top sheet right side out, you'll be able to easily tell the difference Now, when you are done, let us know how it went.;) |
I played that when I was a kid. Twister, right?

The only way I know how to do it right is with my sissy and since we no longer share a room, I do the solo act of stuff-n-stash.
But, I guess I should mention that my psycho mother was the only person in the world who could fold sheets so perfectly that they would fit back into the original package. She was a maniac. |
wouldnt just putting it on the bed be easier

Thanks a whole heck of a lot Trish. I can't even remember what I ate for lunch and you want me to do a 12 step program:thud: Whaaaaaat! |
Beth,
This is hilarious! :D I watched Martha Stewart show the correct way to do it. I think she is nuts to spend so much time on a sheet that is going to be shut in a cabinet. LOL I fold it anyway I can and put the best side forward so it looks good when I open the linen cabinet. LOL:D:D |

DD, is that you ?? :o *smirks, while gazing over at perfectly folded sheets stacked on shelf* :p |

all shelves are open, to deter infestations of the insect kind. and the house is only two rooms, so, I either *suffer* for a few minutes of folding, or suffer a LOT longer if I gotta see wadded piles on the shelf. there's no dryers here, all clothes go on the line, so they're not wrinkled. I tuck the corners into each other, snap/shake to align, fold in half twice, lengthwise (pant-pant) lay the long strip on the bed (moan about back), and fold, in half, (whimper) and then in thirds. yeah, Missy Nappy-Bye, I'm totally ****, I confess. :p;):p a leetle suffering is good for the soul. :D:o:D |
Kay,
Now that would be another story for me if they were out in the open. Everything has it's place in my home. I'm a neat freak! LOL I may not get to do the down and dirty cleaning often but my house is neat. I fold mine the same way you described along with the pants, whimpering and back hurting. LOL Sometimes they don't look so good so I guess I'm lucky to be able to put them in the linen closet with the good side showing.:p Quote:
|
Guess I'm not the rebel, LOL. :D Becky and Kay, that sounds a little like what I do with mine.

And why does this sound like a 1920's commercial to me? I say you wash 'em, dry 'em and then give 'em to the other person living in the house to fold.
Just say here you go John, Michael or Johnny. Repeat that after me, here you go .... |
