American Indians for McCain Coalition debuts at GOP convention ''John McCain has served on the Indian Affairs Committee since the first day he joined the U.S. Senate 22 years ago, twice serving as its chairman,'' said Campbell, himself a former chairman of the committee in a release. ''He serves there not because he has to, but because he chooses to. He doesn't need to be educated on tribal issues, he has been working hard on behalf of Native people for a long time. John McCain is a man of honor and he will be a great President for Indian country, and all Americans.'' |
I have heard this from several from the Penobscot Nation - I hope they all vote in the election !!

Hi guys,
Seriously folks this is getting out of hand again. And its not even productive, informative or educational, its just retaliatory against each other's candidate. Can I remind you all that the name of the forum is Social Chat not Political Chat or Candidate Bash Chat. And what purpose does this bashing each others candidates serve? Other than to eventually ruin it for those that actually want to discuss the actual merits of a topic in this election. Or drive people from a forum where they might come to hang out and socialize like here in "Social Chat." Is it really that important that everyone only believe what you believe? Vote how you vote? Is it really necessary to ridicule people? And seriously do any of you really know the truth about any of these candidates? Or what is in their closets? Do you really believe they are one dimensional - either all good or all bad? And who gives you the right to judge them? And do you actually believe everything that is written or spun or slanted about these candidates? Think of it like television. If you dont like what is on change the channel. Go read in another forum. Or least count to 100 and think before you reply to a political post about what your purpose is in replying? And then if you must reply do it with respect and dignity and keep on topic about the merits of a situation or discussion. Chemar has asked, nicely I might add, that we keep the commentary on topic and that we rise above name calling and snide innuendos about each other's candidate. Is it really that hard?... to remain civil and not sink to the level of the mud slinging in the real campaign or the journalists digging up the dirt and sensationalizing stuff. Do we really need to moderate you to the point of babysitting or do you think you can all behave like proper adults that respect each other and everyone's right to have an opinion without having to crush it? |

This is not personal. It is truly an observation and one I can't come to grips with just yet.
I think it's great that he's trying to do something for our American Indians. I am blood related to the Cherokee, so is Jim. My only wish is that while McCain was in Sturgis he would have done more with the Indians instead of offering up his wife for the Biker Girl beauty contest. He should have researched the contest so he knew what he was subjecting his wife to. Don't ask me for links or verification. My cousin is a biker and was there and saw the whole thing without editing. I felt sorry for Mrs. McCain in that Mr. McCain didn't realize how nasty that contest can get. Maybe he did, I can't judge on that since I don't know him personally. I would like to think he was misinformed. Mainly, I don't understand why he chose to be involved with such behavior if his focus is on our American Indians? I do applaud his involvement and it does make me respect him a little more. But with this respect, I expect to see the changes if he is voted our next President. I have become rather skeptical of promises this election. I am not even sure if what we hear means anything anymore and if the speeches are just highlights to get a vote. That's life I suppose, but we can only hope in the end, we have someone who will follow through with what they say. Something tells me the American Indians wont be a priority for either politician at first. :( That's my honest opinion and I hope it was looked upon as a response and not a negative slap to any politician or anyone. |
