Paul Newman is dead.

And that's a shame. What a loss....

I loved him in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

sad news. He was one of the greats.

FinLady 09-27-2008 09:33 AM

A businessman, a racecar driver, and an actor. He was one of those few that seemed to succeed at whatever he put his mind to. He will be missed.:(

Oh wow. My BIL knew him on the racing circuit, he's here right now, better go tell him about this. Thanks, Caribou. :(

he was a great racer - met him at a small track in NH once. What a great guy he was!

and not to mention the best salad dressing out there!

he will be missed.

Alot of talent and all around great guy. I didn't think he was that old, 83, he always looked good. He will be missed.

Thank you for posting this. I just got home from a rummage sale for M.S. and hadn't checked the news.

Very sad but not unexpected. He contributed a lot to us. God speed.

Awww...he's one of those guys who just got hotter as he got older.

I met him once while fishing on a small pond in CT. He had a kid with him and a baseball cap on and we talked for a few minutes about fishing and I said I loved his movies and he thanked me and we both kept going. ( I thought I was hallucinating! )

A few hours later I was at the drive thru packy and he pulled up behind me in his pickup. I was getting ice and I waved and he smiled and waved back. Someone with me asked who I was making eyes at and I said "Paul Newman".

Everyone laughed at me. Then he pulled up behind me, leaned out, and asked me how I did fishing. We talked for a minute and off he drove. I turned around and the people with me were standing there stock still staring off at his truck...and then turned and looked at me, openmouthed...LMFAO just remembering it!!

Great story, RW. :)

He donated all of the proceeds ($250 million) from his Newman's Own products to different charitible organizations over the years. He was a very good man, besides being a great actor and drop dead handsome. :) RIP Mr. Newman.

It is very sad that he is gone. I had heard a month or two ago that people were whispering cancer. I was hoping it was a rumor but I guess not. RW got closest to saying it....Paul Newman was the most HANDSOME man ever. Actually, I think RW said hot. ;) I could just stare at him all day long, esp. in those early black and white films. I recently watched Hud and Newman just exuded sex and charm like somethin' crazy.
