Frank, when I first saw this post I thought it must be an old one, that some how got bumped up!! Dog-gone it ,Frank, your back in again; you need to break this hospital habit. Hope you are feeling better really soon, and home in no time. |
update ... he's got a room ... it's too hot ... they've had to redo the iv already ... it's too hot ... they have given him ice packs to combat the heat ... shot him up with dalotin(sp) for pain ... worked for all of 30 minutes ... did i mention that it's too hot in his room ... they have a heart monitor on him cause his checks hurts ... duh ... he has pneumonia and he has a nasty cough ... of course his chest hurts ...needless to say, he's already irritated and wanting to get out of the hospital ... oh joy ... he has the laptop with him so he will be online throughout the night as he never does sleep well in the hospitals ... something about having to be woken every hour to check his bp and see if he needs anything ...oh did i mention his room is too hot ... they can get him a fan but have to wait for the doctor to order it ... that can take 24 hours ... meanwhile his temper is rising (anger) ... poor guy ... i wish i could bring him a fan from home but again ... doctor has to order that ... he's in a no win situation ... did i say his room was too hot ... and he wants to come home ....
well ... there you have it ... and still ... his room is too hot |
Frank...stop playing with the nurses and get outta there!
Praying that you get better fast! |
C'mon, Frank, you can kick this thing. Get better fast so you can get home.
It might help to ask for a moist towel and extra ice packs to put at your feet. This is your old camper friend talking, your feet are your thermostat and your head is your vent. Cool your feet and don't wear that hat in there. |
Deb, with this room temp fiasco I'm thinking YOU'RE the one who needs the supportive thoughts & prayers :winky:..
Frank, I hope you're not just in it for the hospital food. That would be a first. Take care of yourself, give 'em he!! and get better soon! |
actually the food here is fantastic, and I am not joking ask deb,
Cindy I use my feet as a temp control all the time, i learned about that from think my nana told me years ago i got my fan and deb was right it was too dang hot in here oh and as i was coding out for resp failure and andy hardy and his gang showed up like 12 people came a running, the room mate had the nerve to complain and say im trying to sleep, well i told him i would try to die quieter, and as i type he is snoring louder than deb. takes all kinds to make the world go round So you all know I wasnt trying to advoid hospital for ego reasons I was trying to kick this with my meds and breathing treatments, I am not that stupid, close but not that bad. i didnt want anyone upset at me, mainly Cindy, I was not trying to be macho dork, I didnt want you upset, ok  |
Well no more MACHO for you!
Do us all a favor, GET WELL SOON!! |
Sorry that Frank isn't doing too well. I read his posts a lot on the MS forum and they always make me laugh!!
Frank --- I hope you feel better real soon!! You are in my thoughts and prayers and am wishing you a speedy recovery! Sandy --- Thank you ever so much for letting us know!! Take care, Alison |
Frankie baybay, get better soon.
|
my BIL was in the hospital and he demanded that the room be cold- he had to get very firm - meaning raised *heck* about it!
after all you & ins are paying for the room & should be -the temp that you are comfortable with.. and if they turned it up he was complaining right away- plus he was forever kicking his sheet off and pulling his gown off...:o |
well its update time again ... when i left he was finally dosing off ... they still are waking him regularly to check his breathing and his oxygen levels ... after last night ... they had better!!! i left the hospital around 9 last night and found out around 10:30 that they nearly coded him last night ... he got too hot ... iv kept going off (beeping loudly and irritating his nerves) ... exhausted and on steroids ... too hot ... so his body took over and decided to show the people at the hospital just how wrong they were ... he started coughing and couldn't stop ... oxygen levels dropped ... bp shot up ... alarms started sounding ... nurse was in the room and saw what was happening and as she is yanking everything off him she is hitting the code button for respiratory failure ... within seconds the little room he was in was packed with 10+ people all trying to help him ... medication goes in ... oxygen that he's breathing is increased to 100% and the respiratory guy is telling him to call down and breath ... then starts telling him that they are fixing to have to tube him if he can't get his breathing under control ... he kept coughing and finally coughed up a ton of junk out of his lungs (they think it was some kind of plug)... once that happened he started taking in air and slowly was able to calm down ... so they didn't have to tube him ... the kicker for last night was his room mate ... he shouts out when all of this was going on "can you keep it down i am trying to sleep here" to which frank promptly shot back between breaths "sorry ... i will try to die quieter next time " and the nurse pokes around the curtain and tells the guy to shut up that they were alittle busy with this emergency " i threw him a curve ball today when he came back to the room (he had surgery on his foot) ... told him i was glad he was ok and that i was praying for him ... not a lie but definitely not what he expected either ... he was polite to us the rest of the evening ... momma always said you can get more flys with honey rather than vinegar .... guess she was right
so thats been his time so far ... that and hes been stuck 20 times in the last 28 hours ... most for trying to get iv's going ... they would start one and it would blow immediately or 2-4 hours after it's started ... he looks like a pin cushion ... i am hanging in there ... worried sick about him ... not sleeping well ... and working ... i just want my husband home ... that's for all the well wishes ... they mean alot to both of us ... more to follow tomorrow |
Coding :eek::eek::eek:
Oh Deb :hug::hug: Ok Frank two years not enough huh....ok I promise my wolverines will lose to ND for um like forevah.....if you promise me to get better and get outta there. Seriously Frank,:hug: and get better real soon cuz football aint as fun when you are sick.:hug::hug: |
