? About "go greens"
Has anyone ever heard of this item?
I jus went to my local GNC and they sell it for $39.95 for 20 packets. Holy Cow. If i had $39.95 I'd probably go for it, but that's not gonna happen right now. I found the same stuff on this website. It's cheaper and you get 24 packets but I gather there is shipping and handling. check this out. http://www.togobrands.com/gogreens/ Let me know what you all think. Thanks Melody |
I've been thinking about trying something like that , but I'd like to try a sample first..
I'm wondering if anyone has a recommendation on brands? for taste, flavor etc ?? here's some similar products in bulk sizes. I just picked iherb.com because it has been mentioned often:) http://www.iherb.com/ProductsList.as...85687662590282 Mel- I'm going to place a copy of this on the Vitamins forum also. |
When you do go to buy something be sure to do a search online for coupons..
example- iherb coupons- http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&n...ns&btnG=Search |
Beware of GNC
They are typically higher in price than just about anyone,
except LEF. |

This is okay for diabetics? I noticed it had only 2 grams of sugar (why do they do this, anyway?) thanks much Mel |
there are natural sugars
present in vegetables. It would impossible to remove those.

So I gather that whatever sugar I am already getting from my vegetables, that if I do this "go greens" packet thing, that it's just negligible, right? I just might turn into Superwoman, with all this Superfoods!!!! lol |
Melody if you look at veggies nutrient facts there is a sugar content like Mrs D said. Some veggies like carrots for example have more but even if you look at a cup of brocolli it has 2 grams of sugar. I am not sure about the tomatoes but I thought they were a superfood for something but that does not mean it doesn't have what you are talking about. Dr Oz always talks about the benefits of tomatoes.

this is a great resource:

broccoli=4 gm sugars /serving/ 280gm red bell pepper raw= 6gm/ in 149 gm carrots = one cup = 6gm tomato red, raw= 2gm/in 91gm |

I don't go NEAR carrots. They are full of sugar. I had read that tomatoes are in the nightshade family so that they are inflammatory. And come to think of it, I stopped tomatoes 2 weeks ago, and just now I tore through my whole house with my Shark Steam Mop, and usually in October, I'm as crippled as a pretzel. So, I'm going to keep testing this tomato theory of mine. Until the weather stabilizes and it's either cold or hot (which it won't be until next July), I'm going to steer clear of any nightshade family veggies. I'm okay when it goes from cold to hot. I am NO OKAY when it goes from warm to freezing. Like it's been doing for the past week in NYC. You get up in the a.m. and it's 40 or so. I have to put on my winter coat to go out in the a.m. when I come out of my breakfast cafe, I have to hold my coat in my hands. This is after about 90 minutes. That's how nutty the weather is. And last night the humidity was 54 in NYC. I was fine. No neuropathy, no nothing. but when the humidity is 90, I'm a cooked goose. The barometer affects me in a total way. They asked this question at the Neuropathy Support Group two months ago. "What greatly affects you Neuropathy?" and I was the first one to shoot up my arm and I said "I LOVE HEAT!!! I COULD LIVE IN THE SAHARA DESERT". Absolutely every one else there at the meeting looked at me (including Alan) and said "oh, no, we love the cold". Isn't that remarkable. Let it be 100 degrees outside and I could go walking. But god forbid it's COLD!!! I'm good for nothing. Right now, (and it was 40 degrees this morning, and I wore my winter coat), right now it's warm outside. I just went to my front door (holding my Steam Mop) and the mailman was putting mail in my mailbox. I exclaimed "oh my god, it's actually warm right now?" and he laughed and said "extremely". I can't wait to go out and sit on the porch with my friends. God only knows, in 5 hours, I will have to put my winter coat on again. Talk about global warming!!!!!! jeez Take care, Melody |
Melody I have missed your responses. I still think you should write a jids story book. You have a way with words. I too am experience the who knows what the day will bring weather back in Mi. Hate it but I hate the all the time cold and snow worse. As for the sugar I have no clue how you do it. I still have my major sweet tooth and the last blood work I had my sugar levels were on the rise not good. Do you eat any fruit? Good luck in your experiment I hope it helps and keep us updated. May I ask what part of Ny you live in? If I ever get well I want to go back for a vacation. I used to live in NJ about 90 min from NY but only visited once.

I live in good old Brooklyn, NY. And what is a jids storybook?? I rarely eat fruit. I "very once in a while", will eat a small can of one of those low-carb canned pears or peaches that have splenda. I will pour out all the juice, rinse the fruit and put some in a little bowl. Haven't done that in a while. If I'm going to go fresh, I'd rather have a pear or a peach. but honestly, I don't eat fruit. I'm a vegetable and fish person. I have been doing good on the "no tomato" diet. I didn't cut them out because of sugar, but because of the supposed inflammation and I do have arthritis so this fall the weather greatly affects this. This morning (it was VERY cold outside). I had my winter coat (with the hood) on and I ran into my landlord (who lives next door and owns both houses). I said very respectfully "do you know when you might turn on the heat". He just said "I don't know". Then he said "you know it's not really cold, it's the wind". GIVE ME A BREAK. It's freezing, and he people upstairs are freezing and the two 82 year olds downstairs are freezing. Every year, around this time, my landlord will come in and say "put the thermostat on 70, and don't touch it'. Then he goes in the basement and flips the switch and the heat will come on. So this morning I politely said: "would you like me to put the thermostat on 70 so WHEN YOU ARE READY, THEN THE THERMOSTAT WILL ALREADY BE ON THE CORRECT DEGREE". He thought on it for a moment and said: "Oh, that's a good idea, that way I don't have to ring your bell and come in and tell you to put it on 70". Then I said "good idea". I know how to talk to landlords. So until the heat is on, I have closed off the living room french doors, I have been cooking, roasting chickens, putting on big pots of water to simmer and my kitchen and the back of the house is nice and toasty. I don't go into the front part of the house because it's like Alaska. but soon, he will eventually flip on that switch downstairs and we shall have heat. I now know that years ago I should have bought my own home. I wasn't ready to do this financially or emotionally. I raised a child and I had to choose "working", or staying at home to raise him". His behavior prevented me from keeping my job anyway so the choice was made for me. So here I am at my age boiling pots of water, and closing the french doors to keep the back of the house warm. Hey, we do what we do, we pay the price down the road. But at least I have a roof over m head and I'm alive and kicking. That's how I look at life. It really is the only way to look at it. You see the glass as half empty or half full. I see it as half full. That's how I like to look at life. I may even get my heat turned on today. Melody |
I am sorry. I should do spell check. I was typing too quick. I meant KID. I think you should write childrens books. No heat I can't even imagine. I thought they had to turn it on. I would be in so much pain. I have the heat on here during the day. This morning it was 32. I also got a space heater at Walmart for cheap. I know NY is different but that is unreal and I am sure you pay a lot for your apt. Stay warm and keep eating those veggies.

He'll turn on the heat eventually. There's a 75 year old man upstairs and the two 82 year olds in the basement. One day, ONE OF THEM, will call up the landlord yelling. But it's not gonna be me. Oh no, I know better. melody |
