i'm staying clear of any food or personal product made in china. soaps..shampoo's. who the heck knows what they are putting in stuff.

you really have to check the labels. many good ole usa company's have their producta made in china. the lables will say distributed by and then made in china in real small print.

Not too long ago I heard on TV that even some of our 'trusted' meat comes from China & they are soon to put a label on all food products (including all fruits & veggies) saying where it is from, so you can see it without 'studying' the label on the back.

clouds..if you do some searching..see if you can find a website that lists products that made for american companies, that are actially made IN the USA. USA made packaging too.

i doubt there are products that all ingredients and packaging are made in the USA. :(

i'd do the searching, but i'm supposed to be doing something else and not online. :o

plus you are awesome at finding stuff.

First is what tells you exactly the rules are for being labeled Made In The USA

http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/business/adv/bus03.shtm

These sites are a few where you can find or search for products made in the U.S.

(I was thinking I saw a smokestack nearby that said Nabisco. So on that last site Chris gave, I entered "Nabisco" & one of their locations is in Toledo. Looks like they are all in the U.S....lol)

I have noticed some products - food and other things - have started putting a big Made in USA right on the front of the package lately. I'm going right for those items when I shop.

I made sure all the Halloween candy was made in USA except one, which came from Canada. I was shocked how many countries this stuff is coming from these days. I figure China may be shipping tainted ingredients to those other countries. I'm not taking chances.

For Christmas too, I'll buy less and buy American.

Not to worry, I caught your brain, I just don`t know what to do with it! LOL Hey, China, mushrooms in a can. Anybody eaten them? I think I could have in the past and I am still here but I am having a hard time dealing with ANYTHING comming from China! I saw a program where a family bought strictly American for a year, Clothes, shoes, food everything. It unfortunally cost them a bundle! That is what is so sad, many of us can only afford stuff comming from China or outside the US. It is less expensive which is bad as we could use some jobs here! The American public I guess needs to be able to work for less, charge less so we can if we can pay less. I don`t know the answer but I am very aware of where my purchases originate these days.
Have a great day everyone. Hope it`s a good one for you!

Franny - it's bad that american made goods are more expensive, but like I said I'm willing to spend within my means and buy less to have american made products.

The problem is, try finding any.

I'm especially discouraged with Christmas coming up, looking at decorations. I have yet to find one that's made here. I'm thinking construction paper and glue, and the granddaughter can learn to make snowflakes and paper chains this year.

I'd have to take up sewing again to have clothes made in the usa, cuz I sure can't find any.
