I thought this might be simple, but it's not (flood damage diagnosis)
Ok, so you all know I woke to a small flood in my house last week. Well they began tearing into my walls today and found "extensive biologicals in the walls" so two walls are coming down, the master bathroom is being torn apart, and that is just the start....CALGON TAKE ME AWAY!!!!
Pic's to come. |
What exactly does "biologicals" mean??
and why am I creeped out by the thought of something biological inside walls? |
that's terrible earl.
do you have insurance? and who's doing the work? |
earl ... science projects are suppose to be kept in the frig NOT your walls ...
anyone for penicillin ... all jokes aside ... i hope you're able to clean up the mess soon ... is insurance going to cover the cost? |
My poor neighbors are going through this too!
Thing is they just bought this house 5 months ago. The entire master bathroom is being gutted due to "extensive biologicals" in the walls and subflooring. Earl, I hope your project gets done fast without too much stress on you . |
Man, I'd hate for them to culture my bathroom!:eek:
We'd be quarantined for sure! They wouldn't even have to go in the walls! Do you have mold coverage on your homeowners policy? That should cover most of the work ( or at least that is what they told me when it was added to my policy!) Sorry to hear you are living in a construction zone! Hey! Maybe that COLD weather you are having will kill the "biologicals":D |
hope the repairs are quick, Earl what was the reason for the flood, was it a bad shut off value or bad pipes?
|
Bummer, dude! This is beginning to sound like the money pit, let's hope they can round up the little critters quickly and let you get back to... to... get to do... uh... start some... finish... um... whatever the heck you do all day!

Ditto, Earl. But exactly what is it that you do do all day? Wait! I think I just answered my own question.:p |
Earl, sorry to hear this. I hope they get it fixed fast and without too much pocket pulling.
|
I hope they can get this taken care of quickly without too much of a headache!
|
oh yeah, more fun

Today is day 3 of the destruction of the master bathroom and guest room. They removed the vanity and tile floor, and hepa-vacumed it today and wiped all surfaces down, they have a de-humidifier in the guest room and the master bath. They put a plastic barrier up to keep the dust and microbials from the rest of the house, especially my bedroom. Pic's below. The first is the place my vanity USED to be...the second is the plastic the covered my door with, notice it looks like I am in quaranty, the third is the breakthrough from the guest room to the master bath.
AAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! |
Are we all jinxed or what? Seems this bunch has more than our share of bad luck. You'd think once you got MS that would be enough and no more stuff would happen.
So, ok, I like living in my fantasy world. |
I hate it when my house is torn up, even when it's for ''good'' renovations. That's got to be major frustration. I too, want to know what biologicals are? Are we talking mold??
Friends of ours had a new log cabin type home built and after several months, their son kept getting really sick all the time. Found out the house had mold between the walls/rafters. Hope your'e not torn up too long, Sir Earl. What a pain for you. |
