Stun-mode

okay, at the moment, I'm in total "stun-mode"

that's what I call the feeling when I don't think I can move one iota.

don't want to talk to anyone, and I've got an attention span that's positively minuscule.

cataloging the bodily ailments and aches, there's a stabbing pain in my right foot arch, knitting needles jabbing in my upper right jaw, a mid-grade headache, and my lower back is seriously tweaked,

oh, and my neck hurts, it feels like I've got a pencil poke-poke-poking in my left ear, my vision is blurry, and my left shoulder feels OUT... not dislocated, just not quite right, and a bit sore and swollen around the joint.

ahhhhhhhh, me! sniffle-whine-whine

got through all my chores, but couldn't take a nap... too achy-breaky.

HAH !!

I sneer at the doctors who say MS doesn't cause pain.

could be due to the cold front... sleeping badly-positioned, curled up tightly to stay warm, and that's not helpful for spasmodic muscles.

so, I thought... maybe I should start my very own WHINE thread ??

:D

solely for the purpose of garnering sympathy, of course!

:o

That was me the last five days. Even my hair hurt!! My Neuro does agree that MS does cause pain. He wants me on meds again... no thanks.

I don't like the achey breakys but don't want the meds either.

So.... I just whine till I feel better. It's just temporary....

Did you know that they breed featherless chickens?

CayoKay 11-09-2008 11:13 PM

thanks, peoples... all sympathy muchly appreciated!

:Blush2: :icon_redface: :Blush2:

like you, Janie, I try to avoid meds, because I really don't like 'em.

Gazzy, that's the thugliest chicken I ever did see in my entire LIFE.

oh, my eyes, they're burning!

Frank, my hubby just brought me a slice of his latest batch of cheese... mmmmm-mmmm good!

now, can I whine some more?

I forgot to mention the soul-crushing fatigue, laying heavily upon me.

:paperbag: :Sigh: :paperbag:

AND... since we're on water restriction until we reconnect (after the loss of our entire cistern contents, yikes!) the thing I MOST want to so is take a nice warm shower... and I can't.

:Sob: :icon_redface: :Sob:

sniffle, moan, sniffetty-sniff sniffle.

gonna try and get some sleep... after I finish this nice cup of Caribbean Dreams red ginger herbal tea, with honey.

dmplaura 11-10-2008 12:46 AM

Nooooooo Cayo! Not you!! :hissyfit:

I seriously hope you're feeling better soon hun. Megamonstroushugs!

Twinkletoes 11-10-2008 12:52 AM

Knew it would cheer you right up. Don't worry, I'm looking for more hairless creatures for you. :D

Keep cryin', Cayo. You need to refill the water supply!

(my mom used to tell me to keep laughing cuz we needed the eggs)

WTH happened to your reservoir (the water, not your personal internal one)???

That tea sounds yummy! What brand is it? I'm particularly fond of Tension Tamer by Celestial Seasoning and I love Earl Grey (double bergemont if it's available).

DM 11-10-2008 08:48 PM

Hey Kay! So sorry you are feeling so lousy, too! I hope you feel better soon. I can kind of relate to how your'e feeling.

Tomorrow is another day, my friend; let's hope it's a better one.

when the severe floods came last month, the overflow kicked in, and the pressure SHOT the external drainage cap off, which emptied the cistern, (apparently... or something or other...)

confession time, when DH and Amelio start discussing technical or mechanical things, my brain tends to flutter away, on a Soma holiday...

last year, I was paying closer attention to the discussion... it was a broken hose bib... Kevin Bacon knocked something loose during the night, the pump kicked in, and WHOOSH !!

bye-bye 15 thousand gallons of water!

lesson learned, near pig sties, use METAL plumbing fittings, not the cheaper plastic ones.

:o

didn't I say already?

pay ATTENTION, Stotty... it's Caribbean Dreams.

<snark>

our leetle health food store in Mennonite-land carries Celestial Seasonings. Tension Tamer is a fave here too... made with our local village honey.

this is a Libertarian paradise, no rules, no inspections, you're on your own, and one has to take full responsibility for oneself...

and the honey comes in recycled bottles... with new snap-on plastic caps.

it's sooooooo funny to bop over there, and buy the honey in old wine and soy sauce bottles, which we scrub and donate to the beekeeper for his tienda.

so, we get our own bottles back sometimes, lol!

:)

oh, and as to why I'm UP at 10:30 pm?

well, I felt so carppy today, I took TWO naps.

no, no, no, no, and no!

heard a truck pull in this afternoon, crunchetty-crunching down our gravel driveway... and ALL my muscles tightened in anticipatory dread.

was thoroughly *relieved* to see Amelio come to the door, to borrow a ladder... he's driving a truck now, with an engine that sounded JUST like the one on the housepest's 4WD rig.

WHEW !!

next guests are due on Dec 16, and they have plane tickets back to England a week later...

no more long-term "guests" at Chez Kay... I'm giving up aiding the needy, for Lent.

:D

and THESE guests are the ones who are bringing me a new little Nikon digital CoolPix... oh yeah, oh yeah... can't WAIT... I'll be able to do Olivia's Wok-Woks once again!

well, I *do* feel better...

gave DH the "lecture" (politely, despite multiple pains) in regards to regularly tending to the kitty littler tray, and hopefully, our furball will no longer feel a need to take vengeance upon the futon for the dereliction of duty...

so I'm late in hitting NT...again

Do I get credit for feeling badly that you felt like carp? Hope the water gets renewed (I thought I smelled sumtin' funny round here) and you get to feeling up to snuff!!!

DM 11-11-2008 09:08 PM

Hey Kay~ Well, I still feel Carpy, but I'll say it again~ tomorrow is another day. My Dr changed up some meds today, so hoping that will help. Sure hope you feel better tomorrow too. Take care my friend.

PS: I feel just ducky about Gandolf!!! Wish I could strut like him. too cute!

Rest well....

ewizabeth 11-11-2008 09:33 PM

I hope you start feeling better soon Kay! Maybe it's just your body de-stressing following your houseguest leaving? After I go through a lot of stress, my body gets all out of sorts while I get back into my regular (slow) mode.

CayoKay 11-11-2008 10:19 PM

ohhhh, DM... leetle slow on the uptake here... took me a sec...

you saw pix of my charming gander Gandalf, on my site? or in the Wok-Wok thread?

yes, he totally struts... it was truly pathetic when he lost his top-dog status at our farm (he was all head-hanging and mopey), and thus it was really cool when he staged the coup d'etat, and regained his rulership this morning...

actually, I am feeling a little better, still fuzzy around the edges, blurry vision, and achy all over, but the load is lightening, with the help of Tylenol, and vitamin C... and lots of hot tea.

I hope you're on the mend too, Miss Princess !!

Jane, I do not either stink!

MOM !! Jane said I smell bad, make her STOP it!!

:D

DH turned on the "pipe water" at our front gate today, so had a shower, neener-neener! and so there!

Wiz, that might be it, but in addition... a bug has taken hold... I've been coughing, sneezing, and snuffling all day... and figured out (in retrospect) that most of my body aches, and headache are due to the flu, and a sinus infection.

I took my own (oft-unheeded) advice, and took it real easy today, two naps, fed the birds in the "green room" (and skipped the plucking party), AND sent hubby to the dawn market without me.

I can make it through my regular feeding chores no matter what... (it's only 2 or 3 hours a day) I haven't missed but once in two years now... it's when extras are added to the day that I PAY.

so, this week, no extras for me... I don't want to trigger a REAL nasty flare, so far it's all just pseudo-stuff doing its usual re-run.

oh, and DM? I showed hubby your litter-box pic... he grinned and PROMISED to do better !!

Bannet 11-11-2008 10:21 PM

Hi Kay:hug: I'm sorry I'm a little late responding to your thread but I guess I've been having my own little pity party the last couple of days:(

You are right about MS and pain. I have it and luckily my neuro agrees but a lot of them will tell you over and over again that MS doesn't cause pain! Phooey:hug:

Take care!
http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u...etter_soon.gif

yeahbut 11-12-2008 08:46 AM

Kay glad to hear you are feeling a little better as of yesterday, hopefully today is even better!

CayoKay 11-12-2008 09:02 AM

bettah, bettah, bettah!

alas, I've gotta go to town today, need an influx of cash at the ATM machine, and have to mail some stuff and pay the utilities...

but it's a balmy 70 degrees... so I should be okay, if parking isn't too bad, and that'll probably be okay as well.

because... sadly, even though tourist season has begun, there are VERY few coming here... airfares are high, and the economy is lousy, so vacations are one of the first things to get crossed off the list.

Belize is a major eco-tourist destination, as well as some of the best scuba diving in the world, but reservations are down drastically.

when the US suffers, we suffer right along with you.

soxmom 11-12-2008 09:04 AM

Just saw this........glad you are feeling better Kay. May it only get
better.

MS doesn't cause pain? My Neuro seems to think that, too. But he doesn't have MS!! I think the next time he makes such a ridiculous comment I'll tell him that since I don't have "family jewels" as he does then kicking them obviously doesn't hurt....so let's try it! I wonder if that will change his mind?!

CayoKay 11-12-2008 11:06 AM

Kell, you're such a naughty woman!

:D:eek::D

but I must confess, that's almost exactly what I desired to do to the neuro who said he "couldn't detect any weakness" in my legs, when he was perched on a rolling stool, with my FOOT in his lap.

(he was rolling that pinwheel thingie over my skin, testing for numbness)

oh, merciful heavens, I was severely *tempted* to launch him across the room!

the source of my IRE was his previous comment that because I was "reading so much about MS" I was "causing" myself to "have the symptoms"

in other words, I was a hysterical female, and a hypochondriac to boot.

brave man to examine my foot in that position, after such denigrating and insulting commentary...

:D:eek::D

jprinz99 11-12-2008 11:25 AM

kicking unsuspecting neuro/dolts doesn't hurt one bit. Try kicking your neuro next time he says something like that.

I bet 20 M&Ms you won't feel any pain at all:rolleyes:

Gazelle 11-12-2008 02:53 PM

Yep, I'm convinced---I totally LOVE you Cayo. :D

Glad it's only the cruddy flu and not a "real" flare. as if feeling cruddy b/c of being ill and any resultant exacerbation is different than an MS flare.

:icecream: Stay cool. And I"m so glad you're clean now. :p

SallyC 11-13-2008 12:48 PM
