Amie is here!!!!!!

and we are home snice yesterday. She was born 11/12/08 at 12:18 pm 9 lbs 13 oz 22.2" long. I went in at 6:45 am on the 12th to be induced they got me all set up with the pit and I was going to hold off on getting the epi untill I really needed it because we afrade that I would not progress. I got checked at 10am and I was still 3cm but I was 100% effaced. I started with hard labor, The doctors came bak at 12pm to check me and I was 4-5 with a buldging sack. They broke that and I went right to 9cm. They told ud that they would not leave the floor. They did not even get half way down the hall when I told the nurse that I had to push. 16 min later Amie was here. There was no time for pain meds. Boy I have much more respect for women who go without pain meds more then once.
hereis the hospital pic. When we get the film back I will post them:hug:

 Sue, she's gorgeous!! She looks like a 3 month old (and probably felt like one, too!). Honestly, she doesn't have that "newborn" look at all.

I'm so happy for you! How exciting! What do your kids think of her? I know they were anxious for her to get here.

Thanks for letting us know ya'll are all okay. You take it easy and accept all the help that's offered to you.

Looking forward to more pictures soon!!

Wow! I have the utmost respect for you. My biggest baby was 8 lb 3 oz and I pushed for hours. I cannot imagine 9 lb 13 oz with no drugs. What a big baby.

She is absolutely beautiful. Congratulations to you and your whole family. What a blessing!

I'm going to go look at the baby pictures of my 16 year olds. I had drugs, but always say I had a 10-pounder. DD was 6pounds, 2 ounces, DS 4 pounds 2 ounces (she was taking his food in the womb). He's bigger than her now.

Babies are great!!!! Congratulations!!!

DM 11-14-2008 10:03 AM

As one of those big babies ( imagine that?) I want to thank all moms who give birth to us naturally! My mom did it and I was 2 lbs larger than the previous baby and 6 lbs larger than the first! Bless her heart, she had two more after me and they were also 2 or more lbs smaller.

She must have just loved me more!:D

The kids love her, Hannah is such a little mama and wants to help in every way. Including the breastfeeding, She hold Amies hands out of the way for me. Robert asked to hold her today and he did for about 5 min. Then he was done and went on playing with his legos.
I am very tired she was up all last night, She was so hungry and wanted to do nothing but eat, I gave in and gave her one oz of a bottle and she went to sleep around 3:30am then Hannah got up to check on Amie at 5am. I am hoping that this will not be repeted again tonight. She is still awake and I am hoping to get a last feeding in around 10 pm then I am going to dive into bed and hopefuly get some sleep.

lady_express_44 11-14-2008 08:19 PM

Congratulations, Turtle. You worked long and hard for this blessing.

Ah, c'mon RW, I think I just ran outta fingers trying to figure out how much you weighed. Just tell us, would ya? (I never could do those story questions).

Wow, Sue! I guess all that extra time in utero went to her beautiful looks! I'll bet she was the prettiest one in the nursery!

I'd say she's definitely a keeper! Congratulations!

YAY!!! Congratulations! So glad she arrived! Hope you are all doing well and you are able to get some rest here and there :hug: {and I'm so glad you were able to go natural, but OUCH, lol....she's a big baby ;) }

She's adorable, and am glad to here she's finally arrived into the world!

Gazelle 11-16-2008 09:37 AM

Look at those CHEEKS!! She's absolutely stunning. Congratulations!

my daughter was 9 lbs 7 oz and 22 1/2 inches long but I had her with meds. My son was natural and he was smaller. My daughter never fit in newborn either, and she was into 6 months old clothes by the time she was 3 months. I called her my little football player!

You'll probably be feeding her a lot more than the little ones. My daughter seemed to eat constantly and I put rice cereal in her night bottle so it would "hold" her longer and I could get some sleep.

Oh enjoy the cuddling! Sleep when you can.

NurseNancy 11-16-2008 10:31 AM

turt,
i hope this is finding you well and a bit rested.
amie is bound to be a hungry girl.
i'm sure you know that the more she nurses the more you milk supply will come in to satisfy her.

and, the fat content in the milk changes so she also will become more satisfied and sleep better. i learned that babies that suck for more than about 10" get what's called the hindmilk and it's higher in fat content.

well, that's my nursing news for the day.
but i'm sure you know this being your 3rd baby.
so i will shut up.

i hope you're both settling in and getting some sleep.
thinking of you.

jprinz99 11-16-2008 10:52 AM

She is simply perfect! The waiting was worth every moment. I am so happy for you. You and your husband do good work, eh?

Happy Birthday Amie!
