I am sick......((((TRIGGER))))
It is 5am here and I am still awake.
Last night after a dinner party I got home and about an hour later I was feeling very nauseated. Thought I was going to get sick,,so waited to take my meds for a while thentook them when I thought it was safe, had tried to make myself get rid of what ever was upsetting my tummy. Wrong. came up with full vengence....I have not ev erf been sick like that before... just awful. so waited some more...another hour thought that would calm my stomach...took meds again...threw them up....so here I sit not having slept and wondering what yall do with you get sick? I feel achey all over from wretching...and back aches...i don't get cramps with my period... I have a headache... I think I have the flu....did not get a flu shot this year..... that was dumb.... either that or food posening or something... don't know... I do know that I hate being sick and now will have to stay in bed and miss work. It sucks..... |
I'm so sorry! Wanna chat? Hugs
Couldn't wait any longer...I have to go cook. Hope you feel better soon. I love you. |
((((bizi))))
sure hope you feel better today and that it was a fast moving tummy bug rather than the flu ps my granma's tried and tested remedy for nausea and retching is cup of boiled water with freshly squeezed lemon juice (1/2 lemon)...if needed for sweetener, few teaspoons honey. |
When I have had those bouts with the terrible stomach aches/throwing up, I just tell myself that it WILL have an ending and then I will be able to rest. Eventually, this happens, and then I sleep. The rest of the day, I watch old movies, make sure I at least drink nutrition drinks and water and rest up. Then I get a shower and change my sheets by bedtime.
Hope you feel better very soon. |
thank you ....
I make a terrible patient......
What is really bad about all of this is that my husband has his big concert with a symphony tomorrow night out of town. I will have to drive myself as he is going up this afternoon. I just don't remember ever feeling this bad before.... I had mild food poisening and this is so much worse than that...I HOPE that it is nothing more than a bug. I got rid of so much made me worry that I was stopped up and maybe my stomach was not emptying like it should... stop this worry...... what I can't figure out is why my ab muscles are hard like tight and contracted...like I can't relax them. and my pelvis, hip area, is just throbbing! Of coarse it is almosst noon on friday. It hurts to lay down, stand up do anything can't get comfortable.... and then there is the fact that it justs gives me something to worry about. now I really am whining... think I will run to the store to get some ginger ale if I can...and some more pepto bismal lozengers they were great! Don't like this.... bizi |
((((((bizi)))))
I'm so sorry you are not feeling well. Being sick is awful, and I hope you feel better soon. Your ab and stomach muscles are probably tight and contracted because of the vomiting. Those muscle areas get a big workout when a person is stomach sick, and they can start to feel tired, tight, weak, contracted, pulled, strained, etc... because they were overworked. It is similar to the way a persons leg muscles feel if they normally do not exercise and then spend the whole day walking around at a theme park. Tired, fatigued, tight, spasming, cramped, and just plain painful. Using a heating pad might help your stomach area muscles to relax. I do hope that you start to feel better soon. Take care of you, Liz |
my first thought was food poisoning - when you said it hit so fast after a dinner out.
You might call and ask if anyone else got ill that was at dinner with you? Or call the place you went to and ask if anyone reported feeling ill after eating there. I'm assuming a restaurant here. I always nibble on saltine crackers, drink flat or nearly flat clear soda {sprite or 7 Up} then slowly start back with soft foods poached egg, applesauce, plain toast, bananas, rice, and of course plenty of water to keep hydrated. After the worst is over -a long warm bath soothes the sore muscles. |
walk 10 feet flop in the chair...10 more feet on the couch...
thank you liz and jo,
I think I am going to make myself throw some clothes on and drive a few blocks to pick up some gingerale, saltins and chicken broth... a warm bath sounds so good but it sounds exhausting just getting it ready... I think I should get a heating blanket...we should have one around here.... thanks for you words of support...they mean alot! bizi forgot...the dinner party was at a friends house and they served mexican food, How to ask a host if someone else got ill on their food...I am not brave enough to do that...and the birthday party was for a 90 year old! I sure hope taht I did not give her my flu bug I did hug her and kiss her. |
awww sweety ia, so sorry you are sick. :(
i do agree with others...it does sound like food poisoning. hubby got it about a month ago from eating out. your abs hurt cuz the vomitting was like doing 1000 crunches. keep yourself hydrated with just little sips of water. give your system time to settle down. ginger helps. like ginger tea. or peppermint. and you aren't whining. you need support and we are here for you. i do worry about losing your meds with the vomitting. are you feeling ok in that department? and oh dear...your whole body is out of wack...with just having started your monthly too. lots of hugs and chicken soup Curious no choccy today:o |
WEll I got about a cup of chicken with rice soup down and some crackers and some ginger ale...so that is good.
Could not get a heating pad, and neighbors don't have one either. I feel sort of disorriented...very strange. took some advil and some geodon since I did not get my meds last night. I am not feeling any nausea now so that is really good...just really really tired and weak. thanks you guys! bizi |
I think you probably have a really bad bug somehow and the achiness is just from throwing up. You don't know what muscles you have until you use them! I am glad you're feeling better today. Ginger ale is awesome! Yay for getting some real nutrition in despite everything.

I had a bad case of food poisoning once and i remember the worse part of it was the contracting of all my stomach muscles and the muscles in that region...the only thing that made me feel better was when I was scrunched into a tight ball until my doctor made a home visit and gave me a shot of something....afterwards I felt so wasted.
I wonder if you should be driving anywheres for a couple of days...whether it was a flu or food poisoning, your body took a real hit...even if you are forced to disappoint your husband, I am certain he would be more concerned about your welfare.... It is the pits to feel physically rotten...Hope you keep on feeling better by the minute Bobby |
I'm so sorry you are so sick Bizzi. Do you have Sao Crackers where you are? I think it's an Australian food but they have them here in our health food stores.
You've been so kind to me since I joined here and I hate to see you going through this. So I'll send {{hugs}} and prayers your way. |
Thanks you guys...I am feeling a little better but still disoriented...feel like I am crashing from a high.
I really don't see how I could even think about going tomorrow... He is going to be so disappointed...I am angry that I won't be able to go he has worked so hard on this.... I just got off the phone with hima nd told him. He understood completely. I have the best husband. I wish I had not gotten sick. ~sigh bizi |
Dear Bizi,
Sorry you had a bad night. It's good that you were able to keep down some crackers and ginger ale. I feel out of sorts too when I miss my meds and then have to catch back up. I hope that you have a better night. Mari |
Hi, I am so glad you are starting to feel better. That sounded awful.
I hope it was just a stomach bug that ran it's course. Get lots of rest now, your body needs it. Hugs, Nikko |
Dear Bizi,
I was posting at the same time as you. It would have been nice for him and for you for you to go to the concert. But you will stay home and get better and that is more important. Good luck. I hope the rest helps. Mari |
WEll I feel much much better and more grounded today.
My husband is playing classical guitar today with the Rapides symphony out of town this evening. I have the whole day to get there and to the hotel . I rested and slept most of the day yesterday and feel that I can make the trip. I can't believe what one day can do and help. thank you all for your support. He has worked so hard for this concert and I am so proud of him ...and very happy that I will get to watch him perform. Must pack and take a much needed shower, sweating and sickness and such makes me not very arromatic this morning. I will touch base with you guys whan I return. I am sorry that I have not beenable to read your threads and respond...will get "caught up" when I get back. love bizi |

Dear Bizi,
BTW, Wittesea explained to me one time that some meds can be absorbed under the tongue. I was throwing up due to pain meds after a wisdom tooth was pulled. I was worried about taking the Klonopin on time. She suggested putting the Klonopin under my tongue. I didn't have to do that. I waited a few extra hours and took a sip of lemon juice to settle my stomach and then after I saw that that stayed down I took a sip of water with the Klonopin. Not all meds would be as crucial as klonopin for missing a dose of course. My husband likes cola syrup (Emetrol in the pharmacies here) for settling his stomach when he gets the flu. (But that stuff is yucko for me. I guess it depends on the type of stomach problem.) Anyway, check with Witt for info like this to have in the future (I hope you won't need it) . She, like you, is an expert on many things.   Mari |
Dear bizi,
Hope you enjoy your husband's performance. There is some kind of stomach virus going around here in SF as well. I have been ill for the last week, but not incapacitatingly. For future reference, if you ever are affected by vomiting that goes on for days, so that your electrolyte balance may be in danger, there is a staggeringly expensive med named, "Zofran", that is the soverign anodyne for nausea. Have fun! |
My hubby played well.
WE are back.
Just wanted to check in real quick, getting ready to go to the small UU fellowship service today...guest minister speaking. The concert was great. The symphony played well and I wa very proud of my husband. thanks for your support you guys. I do feel so much better...amazing to me...how much better. bizi |
