Well I have to have endoscopy...
I have been suffering from severe acid reflux...I am taking a GI Cocktail before I eat and another med to help with the acid. It is some better but I rather not eat...
I couldn't see my usual PCP and this one referred me for blood work, and an endoscopy based on what he heard for my innards.lol I had the blood work yesterday, not sure when I will have the endo. If I get it before Jan 1 Medicare will cover it...otherwise, they do not accept HMOs which is what my insurance plan will be. The GI cocktail has lidocaine as one of the ingredients...I numbed the back of my tongue last night...hot cup of tea...nunb tongue...today sore tongue.:winky: He wants to check the hiatial hernia...and check for some bacteria in the stomach or something. I told him that I have IBS, already been tested...he still wants it done. Rule for acid reflux...if it tastes good spit it out!!:p |
sorry to hear about the need for the procedure. Hope everything works out and you feel better soon.

He'll probably be checking for the H Pylori Bacteria. Three of my friends had endo's and one had the H Pylori Bacteria so she had to do the triple treatment thing. She's fine now. Oh, by the way, the H pylori causes ulcers. So the treatment (I gather) heals it all. One is an antibiotic, one is an antacid and the third is a proton pump inhibitor. I never would have known this if I hadn't accompanied her to the guy who did the endo on her. I learned lots of stuff that day. But you might not even have this, so don't get worked up about it. Hope all works out for you. Melody |
I had it done Momma, it was an easy test. Hopefully it will just be GERD and not a bad case of it.
I have to take Nexium every morning an hour before I can eat or drink anything. I also had to give up my morning coffee (I used to drink three big cups). :Sob: |
Thank you all for the well wishes.
MelodyL...don't worry I don't worry until there's something to worry about and even then I probably shrug and say: It could be worse. lol He is looking for the H pylori which should turn up in the blood work...I haven't had an ulcer in a while, but I wouldn't be surprised...it is more stress from a stepchild's stupidity more than worrying about how stupid he is... I'm really hoping he moves...short version, won't work, won't keep a job if he gets one and expects us to give him a job and pay him more than he's worth. Unfortunately his father believes everything truth or lie he tells him...this kid is close to causing a divorce...oh well, I think I griped enough on this... Now bout that H pylori...I am taking three meds now that will help if that is what it is...the GI coctail is not the most tasty, but it numbs enough I can eat without being in pain and gagging. lol Twink...that's the rule for anything related to food. lol |
Howdy Momma sorry about the procedure, it is easy the prep is the toughest part. Have you mentioned to the doc and hospital or testing site about it being done prior to DEC 31st? any chance you can get you doc to call hospital or make it STAT, just a thought, hoping you feel better:hug:
|
If she has a cancellation she will call...I'm calling tomorrow to let him know I might have to use another facility. Yeah, I always love the prep, like I don't stay in the bathroom or can't eat as it is. lol I just ate a plain hotdog...grilled dog on bun without even a smidengen of anything on it, which is a good thing I like them that way. lol
I just hope it is done before I leave to find that ole rascally JMiller. I am scheduled for a visit with my SIL for two weeks...she has been buggin me for over 6 months. Heck, I just saw her in May...I told her to send me a picture, I could see her that way without having to drive. lol Well, she said, You are gonna see me right? lol |
good luck hun...on the testing...and prep..and all..hugsss,sarah

My doctor has decided I need a gastroscopy as well. I have an appointment in January with the Gastro Eneterologist to discuss it but if I have any say in it, the discussion will be me trying to talk him out of it. Why couldn't I have had it done at the same time as my colonoscopy 3 weeks ago I asked........the answer was that the enterologists here only specialise in one area, so one doc will do the top end, but not the bottom end, and vice versa! Good luck ladies. I hope you both get good verdicts from your procedures. :grouphug: |
Thanks to all of you...
NaeNae...I'm not sure they would let us both near each other...it would cause such a rukus.lol Well, could you imagine if it was three of us. But hey, if you both think you can make it...lol still waiting for a date to get it done. |
I think you could have a GTG at docs office, bet it would be the fastest testing they ever did lol
Good luck again mama nae nae and annie on your upcoming testing:hug: |
Frank... here in this town, they'd just join in! lol People are very friendly here and still ask if you need help even if they don't know who you are. :)
Doctor's offices have nice people working and they are always on the look out for a good time at work. However, their patients do come first...its a good thing. |
Try not to worry about the procedures. They won't be that bad. It is the waiting and worrying that are tough. You certainly don't want to cause more trouble for your stomach and exofagus . Acid reflex can and must be treated. If it is acid reflex, there is medication to treat it. I hope you will be OK very soon.:smileypray:

OTJ...thank you, I'm not that concerned with the procedure or the outcome. Life gives us what it gives us...and I have this cocktail I take to help with the pain for now. I can at least eat once a day as compared to not eating at all. lol
Moi...thank you, I have been through quite a bit on this adventure of life. Through the process, I've learned worrying will kill you quicker than hard work...so I work hard on things so I don't worry. lol I hope I can get in before Jan, but then someone needs to have it done just as bad as I. If no one cancels I will just use one of the other facilities...equipment at this one is supposed to be better according to the dr. A light at the end of a scope is still a light at the end of a scope. lol |
