anyone who knows, Maddie and her name sake Madeline!!
hey all who know about my sister we lost in October, and how her daughter and fiance had a wedding blessing done when my sister was near her death. They dressed in the gown and had a pretty brides mom gown on her.
anyhow, this niece of mine is now planning her wedding in Feb. she just called earlier tonight to ask my Maddie to be the flower girl. At first I was like, hey do you recall her age, you did just see her for funeral she is pretty young.(not two till May) she said yes, but she wants her moms namesake, and also was thinking how her mom was in the birth of Maddie with me.. so wants her in her wedding. she plans to have ring bearer pulling maddie in a wagon up the aisle. hehe ahhhhhhhhhhhhh it touched my heart for Lisa to call and ask, hugss all, sarah |
Awww Sarah! That's just beautiful!

That's a great idea Sarah. I hope it works out!

That will be a beautiful tribute to your sister Sarah. I bet you can pull it off with little Maddie, guests will not expect a perfect performance from a 2 year old, so it will be lovely!!! Can't wait to see those pictures.

OH, How very sweet, Sarah. Thank you for sharing....and be sure to share the pics too..:)

My grandaughter was the flower girl and she was about 1. My daughter was a bridesmaid so she carried her down the aisle. During a prayer I slipped up to her and got her and she sat with me for the rest of the ceremony and her Mom picked her up during the recessional.

awwwww, that's so sweet, Sarah !!
Maddie will do well, I'm sure... *picturing a bright RED wagon being pulled up the church aisle* :) funny thing... I no longer cry at funerals, but I DO cry at weddings. guess I'm *empty* of sorrow-tears, but still have plenty of tears of JOY left ?? well, maybe that's what comes of being an old fart... (lol, pushing 52 here, but FEEL 82) to Sarah, and Maddie, and Lisa. |

Sarah, I think that's a wonderful thing to do in remembrance of her Mom and your sister. What a sweet way to keep her a part of the wedding and a part of your lives. I'm looking forward to pics, too! I lost my sister this past January (it'll be a year at the end of the month) so I can empathize with your feelings and how much you must miss her. |
Aw that's so sweet. And I learned a little trick when my DD was flower girl when she was 2. If you have a basket of flowers for her to throw.... We tied a couple of small toys to strings inside of the basket. She was tossing the flower petals out of the basket to get to her toy. We also kept the string short enough that the toy didn't come out of the basket. Worked like a charm.
Of course once she reached the end of the aisle she realized she had gotten petals everywhere and tried to run back and clean them up. But it was cute. And I agree with HJmom no one will expect a flawless performance from a child. |
thats really cool Sarah
